Guardians named in the next few years were William Campbell, Geon Brown, Joseph Blakeley and John Blakeley.

1/ The Blaggs came from Anderson County TN via Putnam Co IND in 1841 and settled near Barnard. They seemed to have traveled with another Anderson Co family, the Lamars, and with a Putnam Co IND family, the Brodericks. My direct ancestor was Joseph Blagg, b. 1795 in TN, married to Mary Dick in TN. He is the one who brought the Blagg family to Nodoway Co.
2/ A big clan of Nodoway Co Moore's seem to have been from Knox Co TN and were related by marriage to the Blakelys, also from Knox. There were also Knox Co Moores married into the Lamars.
3/ According to the history of Nodaway Co, a William H. Moore was in the 1840 census of Platte Co MO, the 'parent' county of Nodaway, and was appointed allotting justice for White Cloud Twp, Nodaway Co MO (Hist of Nod Co, p 132). (Isn't Barnard in White Cloud Twp?) This man seems to disappear from records and I suspect him as the father of Cynthia and her orphaned siblings. Both of Cynthia's parents were dead before 1850 when she and her siblings were reported by the US Census as living with presumed relatives as orphans. The fact that parents died when the children were young is proved by John Hall Moore's 1899 Nodaway Democrat obituary which states this was so.
4/ There are some discrepancies in dates of the birth of the Moore children but I think Cynthia was oldest. She first married Joseph Blakely, son of Joseph Martin Blakley, but he went to the Gold Rush leaving her to raise her first child, Joseph T. 'Little Charlie' Blakely. His nickname seems to have derived from his grandfather Charles Blakely - perhaps he resembled him. In 1850, Cynthia and her sister Martha (b. MO 1841) were in the household of Margaret Brown, wife of Judge Thomas A. Brown, and Joseph T. Blakely's sister. Both husbands had run off to the Gold Rush but Thomas did finally return - Cynthia's first husband was never heard of again and I don't know whether he died out west or just abandoned his wife and family.
5/ On the 1850 MO census, John Hall Moore, Cynthia's brother, was in the household of Joseph Martin & Jency Devine Browning Blakely, parents of Cynthia Moore's first husband and possibly a blood relation. In 1854, William Blagg (by then husband of Cynthia Moore Blakely) was appointed guardian of John Hall Moore; two years later, John's brother William was placed under guardianship of J. C. Blakely - probably John Calloway Blakely, another son of Joseph Martin Blakely and brother of Cynthia's first husband.
6/ NOTE: 'Guardianship' might be for some other reason than being under age. It could do with being 'simple minded', blind, handicapped in some way. It might do with having had a brush with the law and having someone vouch for your good behavior. It could have to do with management of inheritance, etc. A look at J. C. Blakely's census return in 1860 might indicate something of this nature. And to find the actual court document would settle everything as it must state why these guardianships were necessary. Whoever wrote the history of Nodaway Co must have seen these entries so they must exist somewhere.
7/ John Hall Moore married Cloey Arminda Broderick, daughter of Issac Walter and Nancy Hall Broderick, and I believe William Moore married Cloey's sister Elizabeth Jane Broderick. These Brodericks came from Putnam Co IND with the Blaggs and were their neighbors in Barnard. They were also guardians of Nannie Lucas after her father (George W. Lucas) died by being thrown from his horse in 1872. She was eventually my great grandfather U. S. Wright's first wife.
You can see why I think the court records would solve a great deal. Now, where are they?? Whoever wrote the history of Nodaway County must have had access to them. If someone could find them, all would probably be answered. Can you help locate them??
