OBITUARY - THE COLUMBUS GAZETTE, Columbus Junction, Iowa, Thurs. Nov 19, 1928

Gilead H. Stingley, a resident of Davenport for the past two years, died at 11:20 am Wednesday, November 21, at his home, 1122 West Fourth street, Davenport after a lingering illness.

Mr Stingley was born near Winfield, Iowa, May 29, 1864 and received much of his education in the schools of northwestern Missouri. He was married to Clarinda Beauchamp of Wapello, Iowa, July 7, 1887 and after living in that town and at Columbus Junction for many years the family moved to Davenport to live two years ago.
Surviving besides the widow are four sons, Leslie J. and Merle F., Davenport; Harold, Columbus Junction and Roosevelt, Chicago; three daughters, Mrs E.F. Newman, Chicago; Mrs Milo Fulton, Columbus Junction and Mrs Walter Lage, Chicago; 13 grandchildren, three brothers, Leroy, Oklahoma; Charles, Kansas City and Simon, Erie, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs Oletha Dixon and Mrs Flora Rickabaugh, Parnell, Mo.

Short services were held at Davenport conducted by Rev Frank Court after which the body was brought here and funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist church at Columbus City conducted by Rev J.W. Zerbe.

Interment at Beauchamp cemetery.

Stingley of Davenport, Mr and Mrs Walter Lage and Mr and Mrs Edgar Neuman and Roosevelt Stingley of Chicago, Illinois; Mr and Mrs Simon Stingley of Erie, Illinois; Mr and Mrs Roy Stingley and son, Elmo, of Ponca, Oklahoma; Mrs Flora Rickenbaugh and Mrs Oletha Nixon of Parnell, Missouri; Mr and Mrs S.K. Orris and daughters, Mary and Ola; Mrs and Mrs J.B. Orris, Mr and Mrs Arthur Orris, Mr and Mrs Clarence Herring, of Crawfordsville, Iowa; Sylvester Peck and son, Everett of Knoxville, Iowa; Mrs Maggie Shoults and Mrs Eva Figg and daughter of Muscatine; Mr and Mrs W. Walters, Mr Roy Lape, Mr Herbert Meint, Mr and Mrs F.W. Moody of Davenport.
