Aley, Kurby J. - Kurby J. Aley 63, Maryville, Missouri died Sunday, March 29, 2015.

He was born August 30, 1951 in Maryville, Missouri.

Kurby owned and operated Aley Repair for over 30 years. He was a gifted mechanic and had the ability to fix just about anything. He also worked at Maryville Forge, D&B, Gary Frear Asphalt and Flores’s Radiator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Beatrice Aley.

He is survived by close and extended family and many loyal friends. Celebration of Life: 3:00 P.M. Saturday, American Legion, Maryville, Missouri. Care provided by Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, St Joseph, Missouri.

 

Allen, Ruth M. Reese -

Ruth M. Allen, 100, of Maryville, MO, and formerly of the Skidmore, MO area, passed from this life on Monday, March 23, 2015, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Ruth was born on February 13, 1915, near Skidmore, MO, to James and Merle (Smith) Reese. She was a high school graduate and had cooked at the Quitman Missouri Elementary School, and later was at CMT at Parkdale Manor and Nodaway Nursing Home. She was a member of the Skidmore Christian Church.

On December 12, 1936, Ruth was united in marriage to Roy Dale Allen, he passed away in 1976. She was also preceded by 2 daughters, Emily Margaret Allen, and Dottie Trimble, in 2013; 2 grandsons, Mark Trimble, and Nicholas Allen; granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Stinnett; 3 sisters, Lydia Yates, Charlotte Twaddle, and Fern Metcalfe; son in law, Jr. Piveral; and daughter in law, Dawn Allen.

Her survivors include her children, Patty Day, Shirley Hoyt, Beth Piveral, James (Judy) Allen, Jerry (Judy) Allen, Jack Allen, Rodney (Reba) Allen; 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 14 great great-grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 3 step great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore, MO. The minister will be Rev, Al Hamon.

 

Allen, Wilma Jean VanHoutan -

Wilma Jean (VanHoutan) Allen 82, of Maryville, MO, entered heaven on Sunday, February 8, 2015, being welcomed by her heavenly family. She had endured many hardships after open heart surgery in September of 2014.

She is survived by two children, Donita (Stanley) Sunderland, St. Joseph, MO, and Terry (Kim) Allen, Lincoln, NE; 8 grandchildren, Damon Bleazard, St. Joseph, TJ (Erin) Allen, Maryville, Tyler (Hollie) Jordan, Craig, MO, Jessica Baumli-Horn, Kansas City, MO, Jodi (Justin) Allen, Skidmore, MO, Michaela Jordan, Kansas City, MO, Logan (Ashley) Allen, Maryville, and Shelly (Steve) Kendall, St. Joseph, MO. She has 11 great grandchildren, Trystan Lyle, Victoria Allen, Leena Allen, Chloie Jordan, Don Allen, Landon Allen, Luke Allen, Lillian Cynthia Jordan, Triniti Marie Allen, Kyle Kendall, and Kelsey Kendall.

She is also survived by her sister, Venita (Paul) Jennings, Grant City, MO, sister in law and special friend, Joyce Cronk, Maryville, and brother in law, Jack Krugh, Wathena, KS; and many nieces and nephews who meant the world to her, and many, many friends. Preceding her in death was the love of her life, Don Allen, in 2004; grandson, Tanner Bleazard, in 1991, daughter Cindy Jordan, in 2011, and son, David Allen, in 2013; as well as her parents, her in laws; her sisters Ina and Rita, and her brothers, Dean, Keith, and JL.

Mrs. Allen has been cremated and the family will receive friends from 4-6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM.

Inurnment will be at a later date in the Weathermon Cemetery, Guilford, MO.

Andrews, [Nelda] Joyce Sharp -

Nelda Joyce Sharp Andrews, 76, of Maryville, MO, and formerly of Barnard and Hopkins, MO, areas, passed from this life on March 25, 2015, at her home in Maryville.

Joyce was born on December 4, 1938, in Barnard, MO, to Harold L. and Velma D. (Hilsabeck) Sharp. She was a lifelong resident of the area, and graduated from the South Nodaway High School in 1956.

Joyce had formerly worked at the St. Joseph Light and Power, and was also a farm wife. She worked for Federal Crop in Savannah, MO, and the Farm Service Agency in Platte City, MO, and retired in 2004 from the Maryville office.

Her memberships included the Barnard Christian Church, and formerly the Hopkins Christian Church. She also had memberships in various clubs in the Barnard and Hopkins areas.

Joyce enjoyed gardening, visiting with friends, and making Rhubarb and Gooseberry pies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, a brother, 2 nephews and a niece.

Her survivors include her 3 sons, Jim (Julie) Andrews, Prosper, TX, Jeff (Sandy) Andrews, Pickering, MO, and Jay Andrews, Omaha, NE; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the Barnard Christian Church, Barnard, MO. The burial will follow in the Barnard American Legion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM, Friday, March 27, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville.

 

Baker, Joseph P. -

Joseph P. Baker, 74, of Graham, MO, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at a nursing home in Mound City, MO.

Joe was born on November 20, 1940, in Lincoln County, MO, to Walter S. and Dora E. Trower, they preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his wife Shirley, and a step daughter, Debbie Casteel.

Joe lived in the area since the early 1980’s, and he spent his younger years in Vandalia, MO, area.

He was an over the road trucker, and later retired from St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, in the environmental services department. Joe was of the Christian faith.

He married his first wife, Pamela, and they later divorced. He then married Shirley Jean Baker, and she passed away in 2005.

Survivors include his step children, Rick (Christa) Baker, Abilene, KS, and Todd (Tina) Baker, Maryville, MO, Darla (Gary) Brown, Lyndon, KS; brother, Kinnaird (Twila) Baker, Kansas City, MO; sister, Nadine Rees, Vandalia, MO; several nieces, nephews, and step grand and great grandchildren.

Mr. Baker has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. A memorial gathering will be held at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Community Center, Graham, MO, refreshments will follow.

Inurnments will be at a later date at the Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville. MO.

Clements, Nada Joetta Crider -

Nada Joetta Clements, 65, of Barnard, MO, passed from this life on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the Mosiac Life Care, St. Joseph, MO.

Nada was born on July 21, 1949, in Eminence, MO, to Austin G. and Rosetta D. (Dorow) Crider. Nada graduated from Eminence High School in 1967.

On July 21, 1967, she was united in marriage to Ronald D. Clements in Eminence. They had resided in St. Joseph, MO, prior to moving to Barnard in 1968.

She loved to hand stitch and quilting was one of her favorite hobbies, as well as bird watching. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She retired as a custodial supervisor for NWMSU in Maryville after 24 years. Her memberships included the Barnard United Methodist Church, and the Missouri Wild Horse League, Eminence. Preceding her in death were her parents; 2 sisters, Rhonda Ely, and Rena Tush, and 2 brothers, Marvin Crider, and Leroy Crider.

Her survivors include her husband, Ron Clements, of the home in Barnard; 3 children, Natalie (Chuck) Walker, Maryville, Jackie Collings, Columbia, MO, and Donald Clements, Maryville; 3 grandchildren, Logan Walker, Maryville, and Kristen and Andrew Collings, Columbia; siblings, Donna Bilbrey, House Springs, MO, Butch (Marilyn) Crider, Imperial, NE, Carol Dizmang, Wauneta, NE, Shirley (Jerry) Trogdon, Mt. Vernon, MO, Marilyn Neal, Jefferson City, MO, Charley (Bev) Crider, House Springs, Keith (Kristie) Crider, Galena, MO, Jerry Lee Crider, Eminence, and Paul (Terri) Crider, Highlandville, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville. The burial will follow at the Barnard Masonic Cemetery, Barnard. The minister will be Rev. Jerry Davidson.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home.

Coker, Verna Mae Lawson

Verna Mae Coker, 95, Grant City, Missouri, formerly of Maryville, died Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Worth County Convalescent Center, Grant City.

Verna was born August 1, 1919, in Ravenwood, Missouri to Everett E. and Katie Mae (Farley) Lawson.

A 1937 graduate of the Ravenwood High School she was a retired retail sales clerk with the Montgomery Ward Company, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Verna Mae was a member of the St. Gregory's Catholic Church, and a former member the Silver Haired Legislature and BPW.

Preceding Verna Mae in death were her parents, husbands Wayne McMahon (married December 17, 1938, died March 26, 1978) and Francis Carroll (married January 21, 1982, died December 4, 1984) and Orel Oakley Coker (married May 3, 1987. died May 15, 2011).

Survivors include her daughter Ardyth Karbowski, Omaha, NE,
sister Margaret Ditamore, Raytown, Missouri,
three grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Visitation will be 1-2:00 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2015, prior to the Funeral Service at 2 PM, at the Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville. Burial will be in Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville.

David, Cecil Wayne - Cecil Wayne David, 85, Maryville, Missouri, died April 8, 2015, at at his home,

Cecil was born August 30, 1929, in Pickering, Missouri to George William and Alma Ten (Swinford) David.

A 1947 graduate of Pickering High School, Cecil was a self employed roofer and painter.

He married Alleta Velma Law May 16, 1953 in Maryville, Missouri

He served his country in the United States Air Force.

Cecil was a member of the Rolla Dicks American Legion Post # 315, Burlington Junction, Missouri and attended the First Christian Church, Maryville.

Preceding in death were his wife Alleta (May 10, 1982); parents; granddaughter: Teresa Eckstein; brother: Leland David, and sisters: Florence Dowden, Doris Wyckoff, and Georgia King.

Survivors include his son: Allen (Melisha) David, Maryville; daughters: Cheryl (David) Cheney, Sidney, Iowa; Beverly (Vincent) Eckstein, Maryville and Sandra (Greg) Finney, Smithville, Missouri; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.


A visitation will be 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the First Christian Church prior to the funeral service at 11 AM.

Burial will be in Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville, Missouri.

Graveside Military Service will be conducted by the Missouri Honors Program and the Rolla Dicks American Legion Post #315, Burlington Junction, Missouri

 

Davis, Carol Elaine Stephens -

Carol Elaine Davis 78, of Skidmore, MO, went on to her eternal life with Jesus on Monday, March 23, 2015, at the Golden Living Center, Maryville, MO.

Carol was born on November 10, 1936, in Barnard, MO. Her parents were William Lloyd and Alma Fern (Campbell) Stephens. With the exception of approximately 3 years in El Paso, TX, Carol lived all her life in the area.

She graduated from Quitman High School, class of 1954, and attended Northwest Missouri State College, Maryville. She was a homemaker and the farm manager of the family farm.

On July 18, 1954, at the First United Methodist Church in Maryville, MO, Carol married Russell Wayne Rosenbohm, he preceded her in death. Later she married Jerry Kent Davis, on April 16, 1965, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her father in 1999, her sister and brother in law, Norma and Ralph McCall, and her brother in law, Orville Hamilton.

Carol was a member of the Graham Union Church, and the former ABC Club, both of Graham. She dedicated her life to women’s Bible studies.

She is survived by her mother, Alma, Kansas City, MO; her children, Stephen Rosenbohm, Albany, MO, Lynda (Doug) Bjorklun, Overland Park, KS, and Alice (Kipp) Meadows, Maitland, MO; 3 siblings, Shirley Hamilton, Ronnie (Rosie)Stephens, and Kathy (Don) Cochran, all of Kansas City, MO; brother in law, Dahlman ”DJ” Davis, Maitland, MO; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Goodwin,

Wichita, KS, Andrea Goodwin, Columbia, MO, Justin (Veronica) Stiens, Maitland, MO, and Eddie (Guthrie) Stiens, Skidmore, MO; 2 great grandchildren, Josie Stiens, and Cooper Stiens; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 30, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The burial will follow in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, MO.

 

Duty, Rose Marie Zbierski -

Rose Marie Duty, 78, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 9, 2015, at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.

Rosie was born on August 9, 1936, in St. Joseph, MO. Her parents were Frank and Margaret (Nurski) Zbierski. She graduated from Benton High School in 1954.

She married Thomas L. Duty in 1956, in St. Joseph. They later divorced.

Rosie attended St. Joseph Junior College and later graduated from NWMSU with a B.S. and M.S. in Secondary Education.

She taught at Jefferson C-123, Conception Junction, MO, and later at the Harlan Community High School in Iowa for 27 years. She also served on the Harlan city council.

After retiring, Rosie relocated to Maryville to be closer to her grandchildren. She actively served her community as a member and officer of AAUW, Maryville Public Library Board, and was a volunteer for Eugene Field and Maryville Middle School.

Rosie was a regular walking on the track at the Maryville Community Center, and all the events involving her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Marilyn Polous.

Survivors include her children, Greg and wife Connie Duty, St. Joseph, MO, Jeff and wife Dixie Duty, Defiance, IA, daughter Stacey and husband Scot Calfee, Maryville, MO; grandchildren include Gregory, Danica, Elizabeth and Jennifer Duty, Ethan, Aidan, and Maggie Calfee; great grandchildren are Ayana Cunningham, and Ashlynn Evans; sister, Patricia Sauer, Rolla, MO, brothers, Frank and wife Meg Zbierski, Sacramento, CA, and Tom Zbierski, Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Rosie's final wish was to donate her body to the University of Iowa for medical research with an emphasis on the disease, Scleroderma.

A celebration of her life will be at a later date.

Ebrecht, James Truman -

James Truman Ebrecht, 63, of Maryville, MO, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, with his family at his side.

James was born in Maryville on August 11, 1951, his parents were James Samuel and Loretta Florence (Wallace) Ebrecht, Jr.

He worked as a metal worker until his retirement. His memberships included the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, where he actively volunteered his time for many causes. He was a avid fisherman, loved to do yard work, participate in family functions, and play cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Loretta "Inez" Doolin, nephew, Gerald Alvin Morlock, Jr., and all his aunts and uncles.

With his wife of 41 yrs, Patricia Ann "Patty" Smith, he raised 2 daughters, Margaret "LeAnne" Jinks, and Daisy Mae Ebrecht; those left to mourn his passing are his sister, Patricia Pauline Morlock, 3 brothers, John Robert Ebrecht, Dennis Dean Ebrecht, and Donald Dean Ebrecht; 21 nieces and nephews; and his pride and joy, one grandchild, Lily Ann Jinks.

Mr. Ebrecht's body was cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Memorial services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Maryville, on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM.

Lyle David Fries, 65, Parnell, Missouri, died Friday, January 9, 2015, at St Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.

Lyle was born December 13, 1949, in Fairfax, Missouri to David and Erma Traster Fries who preceded him in death.

Lyle was a graduate of the Mound City High School, Mound City, Missouri

Survivors include several cousins.

Fuller, Nadene Malone -

Nadene Fuller, 96, of Maryville passed away February 19, 2015 at Parkdale Manor in Maryville. She passed away surrounded by loving family.

Born July 10, 1918 in Burlington Junction, MO. Her parents were Boise Campbell Malone and Myrtie Gertrude (Biggers) Malone. They preceeded her in death. She was also preceeded in death by a brother, James Thomas Malone and his wife Helen. On August 3, 1941 she married Merlin Ross Fuller. He also preceeded her in death.

Nadene graduated from Clearmont High School in 1936. She went on to then Northwest Missouri State Teachers College , and graduated in 1939. She worked on a masters degree. She taught at several area schools, Ravanna,MO, Braddyville, IA, Clearmont, Hopkins, Maryville, and Sheridan, MO.

Nadene was very active in the Burlington Junction Rolla Dicks American Legion Auxillary Unit 315 . She was an active member for 50 years. She was also a member of the Burlington Junction United Methodist Church.

Left to mourn her passing are three children, Nancy (Wayne) Sayler of Princeton, IL, Susan (Gary) Hull of Elmo, MO and James "Jim" (Sheila) Fuller of Burlington Junction, MO. Ten grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Lou Fuller & Beverly Fuller; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services for Nadene Fuller will be Monday, February 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM. The service will be held at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville. Visitation Sunday afternoon February 22, 2015, from 4pm till 6pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be directed to the Rolla Dicks American Legion Auxillary Unit 315 of Burlington Junction.

Rose Mary Funderburk, 72, Maryville, Missouri, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at her residence, Maryville, Missouri.

Rose was born December 28, 1942, in Maryville, Missouri to George Patrick and Marie Josephine (Meyer) Funderburk who preceded her in death

A graduate of Maryville High School Class of 1960, and had been a Merging Clerk for Woodmen of the World.

Rose was a member of the St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville.

Survivors include brother Donald E. Funderburk, Omaha Nebraska , sister Ruth Sullivan, Kansas City, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Funderburks' body has been cremated and services will be at a later date with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Gard, Dean -

Dean Gard, 80, of Savannah, MO, and former long-time resident of the Maryville area, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015, at the Mosiac Life Care, in St. Joseph, MO, after a brief battle with cancer.

Dean was born on September 12, 1934, in Hopkins, MO, to Herbert Lee and Pearl (West) Gard. He graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1952. Dean married Alice L. Collins on October 4, 1953, at the Skidmore Missouri Christian Church, they later divorced. Dean had worked at the former Safeway Grocery store in Maryville for 7 years. He then spent 7 years as a franchise partner with Dempsey-Harden in the Phillips 66 Service Station, Maryville. He retired after 33 years as the owner/manager of Maryville Implement, the local John Deere dealership.

In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his siblings, Curtis, Paul, Darl, and Marilyn VanAusdall.

Dean is survived by his children, Dennis (Lynn) Gard, Green Ridge, MO, Vicki (Terry) Morriss, Lexington, MO, Daniel (Kiet) Gard, Albuquerque, NM, Steven (Amanda) Gard, and Karen (Daniel) Wiederholt, St. Joseph, MO; sisters, Norma Sikes, Texas, Rose Ann (George) Findlen, WI; brother, Wayne (Sandra) Gard, Maryville; grandchildren, Teralyn, Patrick, Brittney (Ben), Joseph (Tyann) Rebecca, Andrew, Kelsey (Andrew); great grandchildren, Katelyn, Aubree, Epiphany, Anthony, Olivia, Lila Kay, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Dean was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Mr. Gard’s body has been cremated. His services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015. The visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM, both at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Pastor Paul McKim will be the minister for the service.

Inurnment will be at a later date in the Wilcox Cemetery, Wilcox, MO.

Gould, Mary Elizabeth Baumli -

Mary Elizabeth Gould, 89, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at the Village Care Center, Maryville.

Mary was born on January 5, 1926, in Maryville, to John Joseph and Elizabeth Victoria (Schwebach) Baumli. She attended grade school at St. Patrick’s and graduated from the Maryville High School. Mary was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, St. Gerard’s Circle, and the Friendly Neighbors Neighborhood Pitch Club. She was former member of the Soroptomist, Business and Professional Women, and the Bell Grove Club.

Mary married Bowdoin J. Gould in San Francisco in 1959, they later divorced. She had lived for 22 years in California and the Maryville area for the remainder of her life. She had been an accountant, was a Real Estate Broker, and later a caseworker for the State of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Catherine Baumli, Theresa Spire, John Baumli, Jr., Joe Baumli, and Gregory Baumli,

Mary is survived by her children, Deborah Gould, (fiancé Jack Limbach) Hilton Head, SC, Karen (Jeff) From, Maryville, MO, and Jeff (Cindy) Gould, Lees Summit, MO; brother, Matt (Betty) Baumli, Maryville, MO; grandchildren, Nicole (Brett) Swope, Joshua Welch, Brian (Kara) Welch, Geoffrey From, Aaron From, Jessica From, Dexton (Amy) Gould, Zachary (Janelle) Gould, and Bradey Gould; 7 great grandchildren, Julian From, Cambre and Brecker Swope, Paisley Gouild, Mason and Harrison Gould, Ellie Welch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 16, 2015, at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. The burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maryville, MO.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church.

Graham, Wilbur Dale "Tobe" -

Wilbur Dale "Tobe" Graham, 84, Burlington Junction, Missouri, died Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.

"Tobe" was born March 15, 1930, in Burlington Junction, Missouri to Forrest and Sylvia Russell Graham. He married Juanita Maye Plymell in 1952, in Rock Port, Missouri. They later divorced.

He was a farmer and had been a bus driver and tansportation supervisor for the West Nodaway School District.

He served his country during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Rolla Dicks American Legion Post #315, and was of the Methodist faith.

Preceding Tobe in death were his parents, son Russell Lee Graham and brothers Forrest Jr, Doug and Russell Graham.

Survivors include children Galen Graham, Burlington Junction and Faye Pierpoint, College Springs, IA, five grandchildren: Natalie Harmon, Jeremy and Nicole Graham, and Dustin and Spencer Pierpoint; six great-grandchildren: Treston and Elijah Sanders, Ian Brodrick, Skylar Cornett and Jake and Jordan Graham; brother: Dean Graham , Savannah, MO; sister: Louise Messbarger, Overland Park, KS and his best friend Scooby.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM Sunday, January 25, 2015 at West Nodaway High School, Burlington Junction. MO.

Celebration of Life is 2:00 PM Sunday, January 25th, also at the school, with burial following at Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction.

Hamilton, James William - James William Hamilton, 57, Maryville, Missouri, died Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Village Care Center, Inc, Maryville.

Jim was born June 14, 1957, in Shenandoah, Iowa to Arthur William and Donna Jean Armstrong Hamilton. They preceded him in death.

A 1975 graduate of Maryville High School, he had held numerous construction and manufacturing jobs.

Jim is survived by special friend Trisha Stiens, Maryville; two brothers: Mark (Barbara) Hamilton, Winfield, IA and Jay (Denise) Hamilton, Omaha, NE and two sisters Donna Hamilton and Mary (Jim) Tuggle, both of Shenandoah, IA.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 23rd, also at Price Funeral Home.

Jim will be cremated after the funeral service, with inurnment at a later date in High Prairie Cemetery, Elmo, Missouri.

Hansen, Joy Lea Griffey -

Joy Lea Hansen, 49, of Hopkins, MO passed away on February 17, 2015 at the home of her mother in rural Hopkins. She passed surrounded by her family.

Joy was born August 29, 1965 in Ft. Riley, Kansas. She is the daughter of Drexel Leroy Griffey and Nancy (Jody) Griffey. She was preceeded in death by her father, both sets of grandparents, and Kirby Hansen her brother-in-law.

On July 2, 1983 she married Ed E. Hansen. They resided in Hopkins. Joy loved to bowl, she also collected stuffed animals.

She is survived by her husband Ed of the home, her mother Nancy (Jody) Griffey. Two sisters, Lora Ann (Mark) Rybolt, and Kathy Lynn (Kenneth) Gladman. She is also survived by her in-laws Lloyd and Donna Hansen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Joy Lea Hansen will be Friday, February 20, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Services will be held at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home , Maryville. No formal visitation is planned. The burial will be in the Hopkins Missouri Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials are directed to the family for Joy's final expenses.

Herrman, Dale Lee - Dale Lee Herrman was born August 25, 1959 in Nebraska City, Nebraska, the son of Darrel Dean and Dixie Jean (O’Neal) Herrman. He passed away on Monday afternoon, February 2, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri at the age of 55 years, 5 months and 8 days.

Dale grew up in the Westboro area and graduated from Tarkio High School in 1977. Following high school he attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri graduating in 1981. He moved to St. Joseph, Missouri and worked for Orscheln’s Farm & Home in Atchison, Kansas where he was store manager for many years.

Dale had been a member and attended Locust Grove United Methodist Church during his younger years. He loved the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing or anything with wildlife. He especially enjoyed teaching and mentoring others in outdoor activities, introducing several friends to hunting, fishing and wildlife identification. He taught himself taxidermy and was a very talented taxidermist, especially with waterfowl. He also enjoyed skiing, visiting Switzerland in the Alps and our Rocky Mountains. Dale also enjoyed going to the Kentucky Derby with a friend. His true love was spending time with his family and very close friends, enjoying meals and good stories.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrel Herrman in 2010.

Survivors include his mother, Jean Herrman of Tabor, Iowa; his brothers, Larry Herrman and his wife Charlotte of Glenwood, Iowa, Les Herrman of Independence, Missouri; nephews, Patrick Herrman and his wife Rose of Glenwood, Iowa (their children Clark, Avery, and Gwen), Matthew Herrman and his wife Marie of Omaha, Nebraska (Son Declan); Kent Herrman of Glenwood, Iowa, Niece Annaleah Moore and her husband Mike of Council Bluffs, Iowa; along with other relatives and many friends

Eldon L. Jenson, 85, Maryville, Missouri, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Parkdale Manor Care Center, Maryville.

Eldon was born February 3, 1930, in rural Maryville to Luther Andrew and Pauline B Thompson Jenson. He married his high school sweeheart Neva Faye Adams on May 14, 1950, at the Wilcox, Missouri Methodist Church.

A 1947 graduate of Horace Mann High School, he served his country as an Army PFC during the Korean War.

He was a farmer and stockman who raised cattle and hogs, and had also operated a dairy farm until 1974.

Eldon was a member of the Wilcox United Methodist Church, Wilcox Cemetery Association and James Edward Gray, American Legion Post #100, Maryville.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Job, Harold Lee - Harold "Jobie" Job, 91, Maryville, Missouri, died Friday, March 6, 2015, at Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron.

Harold was born March 3, 1924, in Maryville to William Lewis and Katie Evelyn (Sallee) Job.

Upon graduating from Maryville High School in 1943 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served during World War II in the South Pacific. He attended Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College, and married Shirley French in Maryville June 16, 1946.

He retired as a Branch Supervisor for Wonder Bread.

Harold was a member of the First United Methodist Church, James Edward Gray American Legion Post #100 for 69 years, a life member of the Elk's Club, and Men's Forum, all in Maryville.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Raymond Job, sister Marjorie Stevens, and granddaughter Alix Altenbern.

Harold is survived by his wife Shirley Job, of their home in Maryville; daughter Cheryl Johnson, Stafford, VA; sons: Larry (Tammie) Job, Schertz, TX; Mike Job, Caldwell, ID and Tim (Betty) Job, Maryville; grandchildren: Liz Johnson, Sean Johnson, Melissa Jones, Sarah Hernandes, Preston Job, Stephanie Job, Sara Heideman, Taylor Job, Parker Job and Rachel Job; eleven great-grandchildren; brother: Kenneth Job, Kansas City, MO; sister Katharine Penisten, Maryville and several nieces and nephews.

Kempf , Rollie Reuben -

Rollie Reuben Kempf, 92, Maryville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Golden Living Center.

Rollie was born August 3, 1922, in Tobias, Nebraska to John and Bethie (Harris) Kempf. He was raised in Burlington Junction, MO, where he met and married his lifelong sweetheart Lois Genevee Moore November 10, 1942. Eight days later he was drafted and shipped out to Camp Claiborne, LA. During World War II he was one of the Blue Devils in the 88th Ranger Division of the Army.

He worked for and on farms most of his life. Then in 1962 he bought his own farm just outside of Maryville, where he lived and worked the rest of his life.

Rollie was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois, (April 10, 2010), son Robert Wayne "Bobby" Kempf, granddaughter Stephanie Lois Kempf. four brothers: Harland, Ralph, Edward and Joseph Kempf, three sisters: Jennie Fern Kempf, Pauline Kempf and Pearl Isgrigg.

Survived and greatly missed by sons: John Rollie (Betty) Kempf, Maryville and Clarence Richard (Thelma) Kempf, Oklahoma City, OK; daughters: Genevee Mae (Larry) Houston, Ozark, MO and Lois Juanita (Rueford) Kennedy, Arkoe, MO; one brother Ernest Kempf; two sisters: Ruth Owens and Geraldine Pierson; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Klaas, Mildred M. Sommerhalder -

Mildred M. Klaas, 92, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Mildred was born on September 12, 1922, in Red Oak, IA, to Simon and Anna (Schmid) Sommerhalder. She graduated from Conception Missouri High School. Her memberships included the St. Gregory's Catholic Church, the St. Gregory's Womens Guild, and the Nodaway County Senior Center.

On June 3, 1947, she married Edward (Derks) Klaas, Sr, he passed away in 2001.

She is survived by her son, Edward T. (Sally) Klaas, Jr., Maryville, daughter, Barbara (Jim) Beatty, Lenexa, KS, step daughter, Rose Marie Esch, Arlington, NE, 6 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 14 step great grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, son, Donald Klaas, step daughter, Elaine DeWulf, and her sister, Margaret Sommerhalder.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 27, 2015, at the St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Maryville, MO. The burial will follow at the St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, MO. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services on Friday at the Church.

Liebing, Fred Johannes -

Fred Johannes Liebing, 70, of Skidmore, MO, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at his home in Skidmore.

Fred was born in New York, NY, on February 14, 1945. His parents were Johannes Gottfried and Evelyn (Neron) Liebing. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his twin sister, Barbara Bily.

Fred resided in the area for the past 25 years and had previously lived in Islip Terrace, NY. His memberships included the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, the Rotary Club, and the Elks Club, all of Maryville, MO, and the Stamp Club of St. Joseph, MO.

Fred was a custom picture framer and owned and operated Classic Picture Framing in Maryville, MO.

On September 17, 1966, Fred was united in marriage to Margot Motzer, and she survives in Maryville.

Other survivors include his son, Eric Alexander Liebing, Portland, OR; 2 brothers, Robert (Linda) Liebing, Claremont, CA, and William Liebing, Maryville, MO; his nephew, Brian (Kim) Bily; great nieces and nephews, Bryant, Julia, Colin, and Kathryn Bily.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville. The burial will be at a later date.

Krome, Willis Alton -

Willis Alton Krome, 78, of Burlington Junction, MO, passed away February 17, 2015, at St Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO, following a short illness.

Willis was born September 29, 1936, in Nodaway County, MO. He was the son of William Frederick Krome and Ruby Virginia (Neff) Krome, they preceeded him in death.

Willis's ocupation was as a carpenter and handy-man. He is survived by his sister Eddice (Marvin) Griffey of Olathe, Kansas. A brother Allen (Kim) Krome of Corydon, Iowa. Three nephews Duane (Toni) Griffey, Kurt (Renee) Griffey and Scott (Kirby) Krome. As well as six great grand nieces and nephews. The family will be at the church one hour before the service to greet friends.

Funeral services for Willis Krome will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the Burlington Junction Christian Church, Burlington Junction, MO.

Thelma Louise Linville, 95, Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Graham, Missouri died Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Newmark Care Center, Kansas City, Missouri.

Thelma was born April 16, 1919, in Skidmore, Missouri to Jesse William and Glenna (Gilmore) Hitchcock.

A 1938 graduate of Graham High School, Thelma was a homemaker and an AVON sales representative for over 40 years.

She married William Alfred "Short" Linville on November 1, 1941, in Maryville. He preceded Thelma in death November 3, 2004.

Thelma was a member of the Graham United Methodist Church and The ABC Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband "Short" Linville, four brothers Howard, Donald, Wayne and Vernon Hitchcock and sister Mary Alloway.

Thelma is survived by her daughters Connie Noblet, Liberty, Missouri and Joyce (Jerry) Kelley, Platte City, Missouri, four grandchildren Kimberly (John) Sanderford, Kevin (Kendra) Noblet, Jeff (Renee) Kelley and Joel (Robin) Kelley; ten great-grandchildren and many friends and relatives.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM, Saturday, March 28th at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM.

Burial will follow the service in Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham.

Jennifer S. Lynch 35, of Maryville, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in Hopkins, MO.

Jennifer was born in St. Joseph, MO, on July 25, 1979, to Rex A. Wolfe and Linda S. (Allen) Wolfe. She lived most all her life in the area. She was a 1997 graduate of the Maryville High School

Jennifer was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Maryville. She had formerly worked at Energizer, and was a self-employed pet groomer with Bow Wow Barber, after graduating from the Petropolis Academy for pet grooming in Chesterfield, MO. Jennifer had married Jon Lynch in Manhattan, KS, and they later divorced.

She is survived by her children, Kelli and Klayton Lynch, Gallatin, MO; her sister, Melissa (Tyler) Wheeler, Savannah, MO, her mother and step father, Linda (Charlie) Phillippe, King City, MO, her father, Rex A. (Janet)Wolfe, Barnard, MO, her companion, Chris Mozingo, of the home in Maryville; half-brother, Weston Wolfe, Barnard, MO, and step siblings, Chris Phillippe, Rebecca Wehmeyer, Sgt. Ryan Phillippe (USMC), and Kristin Rasnic; and maternal grandmother, Shirley Allen, Maryville, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Francis and Norma Wolfe, maternal grandfather, Harold Allen, and uncle Harlan Allen.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville. The burial will follow in the Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville. The minister will be Rev. Paul McKim.

 

McIntyre, Barbara June Neff - Barbara June McIntyre, 84, Maryville, Missouri, formerly of Elmo, Missouri died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Village Care Center, Inc, Maryville, Missouri.
Barbara was born June 2, 1930, in Elmo, Missouri to Galen and Nora Horn Neff.
Barbara married Kenneth McIntyre October 16, 1948, at Blanchard, Iowa. Kenneth preceded her in death October 17, 2010.
A 1948 graduate of Elmo High School, she had been a CNA at Golden Living Care Center, Maryville, and a member of the Elmo United Methodist Church.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, sons John Henry McIntyre and Larry Wayne McIntyre, brothers Richard and Henry Neff and sister Gladys Beckel.
Survivors include: daughters Joyce (James) Smith, Irma Copeland, Carol L. McIntyre, all of Maryville, and Dianna (Les) Linville, Skidmore, Missouri, and son George McIntyre, Kimallton, Iowa, sisters Loeva Brown, Ephrata, Washington and Carolyn Hamm, Yakima, Washington, 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Barbara’s body has been cremated.
A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 9, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville. There will be a luncheon and time of visitation after the service at 622 West Edwards, Maryville.

Vesta Lorraine Medsker, 98, Maryville, Missouri, formerly of Guilford, Missouri, died Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Peachbelt Health and Rehab, Warner Robins, Georgia.

Vesta was born January 1, 1917, in Barnard, Missouri to Frank and Elta (Shields) Helzer.

A graduate of the Graham High School, she earned her teaching certificate from Northwest Missouri State Teachers College, Maryville. She then taught school for two years before marriage. Vesta was a homemaker. She married Paul Tilghman Medsker on May 26, 1939, in Barnard, Missouri.

Vesta was a member of the Guilford United Methodist Church, attended First United Methodist , Maryville, volunteered at Maryville Middle School for many years and spent much time gardening and quilting.

Vesta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul Medsker (June 18, 1987), brothers Glade, Boyde, Doyle, and Byron Helzer.

Survivors include four children:

Milligan, Hazel Louise Hurst

Hazel Louise Milligan, 92, Maryville, Missouri, died December 29, 2014, at Parkdale Manor Care Center, Maryville.

Hazel was born April 18, 1922, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Hiram Ennels and Callie May (Owens) Hurst.

A 1940 graduate of the Graham High School, Hazel was a homemaker.

She married James Francis Kenney June 7, 1945. He passed away March 7, 1964. She then married John E. Milligan June 19, 1965. He passed away July 28, 1999. After his death she resided in Autumn House, prior to living at Parkdale Manor.

Hazel became a charter member of the Church of the Nazarene, Maryville in 1945. She enjoyed her church family and caring for children.

Preceding in death were her first and second husbands, her parents, brother Lincoln Leroy Hurst, sister Marguerite Atkins, and an infant brother.

Several nieces and nephews survive.

Visitation is 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday, December 31, 2014, Church of the Nazarene, Maryville.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday also at the Church, with burial following in Rose Hill Cemetery, Parnell, Missouri.

Mires, Richard Lee -

Richard Lee Mires, 75, Pickering, Missouri, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at his home in Pickering.

Richard was born October 5, 1939, in Maryville, Missouri, the son of Elmer and Mildred Ross Mires. He was a1957 graduate of Maryville High School.

Richard and Sandra Swaney were married February 8, 1964, in Maryville.

After serving his country in the US Army, Richard operated Mires Processing for 20 years, farmed and then retired from the Correctional Center in Maryville.

He was a member of the Maryville Laura Street Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Ronald Mires.

Murphy, Linda Elizabeth Stephenson - Linda Elizabeth Murphy, 62, Maryville, Missouri, died at her home Wednesday, February 18, 2015.

Linda was born May 16, 1952, in Maryville to Fred H and Helen Margaret Shell Stephenson. She and Dennis Murphy were married April 4, 1969, in Maryville. They were later divorced.

She had her LPN license and had worked in die casting production at Kawasaki for many years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother Bob Stephenson and sister Patty Risser.

Linda is survived three sons: Tommy Murphy, Wiota, Iowa; Fred Murphy, Skidmore, Missouri, and Louis Murphy, Maitland, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and a brother Bill Stephenson, Ravenwood, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Murphy has been cremated.

Mutz, Helen Louise Fisher -

Helen Louise Mutz passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the age of 87 years old in Maryville, Missouri. She was born March 8, 1928 in Altus, Oklahoma, daughter of Charles and Vella (Booth) Fisher. On March 1, 1950 she married the love of her life, Harrison (Harry) Hall Mutz Jr. in Maryville at the Methodist Church.

Harry and Helen had three sons, Harrison Hall Mutz III and his wife Marcia of Macomb, Il. Walter Booth Mutz and his wife Debra of Sedalia, Mo. and John Kennedy Mutz of Maryville, all of whom survive her. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Angela Mutz, Columbia, Mo., Dr. Allisun Mutz DVM, Wyoming, Il. Shasta Mutz, Columbia, Mo., one grandson, Andrew Mutz, Olathe, Ks., two step grandsons, Jeremy Ives, Cole Camp, Mo, Vincent Merys and his wife Margaret, Blue Springs, Mo. and four step great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Shirley Fisher of Raymore, Missouri and eleven nephews and a niece. She is predeceased by her brother Charles (Buddy) Fisher Jr., her husband Harry, and her parents.

Helen was raised and educated in St. Joseph, Missouri. She graduated from Central High School, St. Joseph, Missouri in May 1946. She graduated from Northwest State University in 1950 with an English Degree. She held a Life-Time Teaching Certificate. She was a member of the Tri Sigma Sorority, First United Methodist Church, was a Fifth Grade Sunday School Teacher, Bridge Club, PTA in the Maryville School District, she was the Northwest Missouri State University Tower Queen in 1948, Chapter HT PEO, she served on the Northwest Missouri State University Foundation Board from 2003 to 2008, she was employed by the Northwest Missouri State University in the B.D. Owens University Library in Government Documents from 1984 to 1995, and was a homemaker and wonderful mother. She received the Golden Violet from Tri Sigma Sorority for 50 years membership. She chose to be a stay at home mother so she could care for her sons. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Along with her family she traveled abroad, and to many states in the U.S. Helen loved traveling, reading, history, family and spending time with her friends. Education was very important to her and she encouraged her family to obtain as much education as possible. She and her husband, Harry owned and operated a farm in Burlington Junction, Missouri; which has been operated by their son John for the past twelve years. They also owned and operated the Five Mile Corner in Maryville as well as several gasoline stations.

The visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, April 4, 2015, at the Maryville First United Methodist Church. It will be followed by the Funeral Services at 11:00 AM, also at the church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville

Nancy M. O'Riley, 75, Maryville, MO, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

She was born on March 29, 1939, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Tom and Genia Merrick. She married Ralph L. O'Riley in 1962. Survivors include: Ralph O'Riley, Meghan (Mike) Jenkins, Maggie (Bob) Willis; 4 grandchildren, Logan and Kobe Jenkins, and Riley and Blayne Willis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters, Lisa and Molly.

Judith Kay Parshall, 72, of Clearmont, MO, passed from this life on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at her home in Clearmont.

Judy was born in Baxter Springs, KS, on March 5, 1943, to Louis and Julia (Mitchell) Shanks. She graduated from Cherokee County Rural High School before moving to Kansas City, MO. She worked for Milgrams Food Store and an insurance business.

She met and married Gary M. Parshall on December 15, 1963, in Kansas City, MO. Together they moved to Clearmont, MO, where Judy worked many years before retiring from the U.S. Postal Service.

She will be remembered for her sense of humor; love of quilting, and taking care of her postal employees and customers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Rex, Richard, Lloyd, and Cloyd, and her sister, Joy.

She is survived by her husband, Gary, of the home, Clearmont; 2 sons, Shane, and wife Sheryl Parshall, and their children, Kylie, Zach, and Madison, Plattsmouth, NE, and Scott, and wife Kelly Parshall, Skidmore, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Parshall has been cremated. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville. Casual dress, farmer and ranch caps are welcome. The inurnment will be later in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Clearmont, MO.

 

Pugh, Mary Ethel Oliver - Mary Ethel Pugh, 104, Maryville, MO., died January 8, 2015 at Village Care Center, Maryville.

She was born November 29, 1910 in Guilford, MO to the late Marion and Eliza (Martin) Oliver.

She married Ernest Vincent Pugh, October 28, 1941.

Mary Ethel was a 1929 graduate of Guilford High School. She then graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. After that she received her Masters Degree in Primary Education from the University of Missouri.

Mrs. Pugh was a retired elementary school teacher for the Maryville School District and had also taught in rural Nodaway County schools. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Maryville. She was also a member of the Missouri Retired Teacher's Association, Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and Chapter HT of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

She was preceded in death by husband Ernest Pugh on November 24, 1975, parents, sister Lillian Beggs, brothers Glen, Lee, Afton, James "Virgil", Harold, and Carl "Loyd" Oliver.

She is survived by her brother Dale Oliver of Stanberry, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM Monday, January 12, 2014 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville. It will be followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM.

Reardon, Mary Louise Palmer -

Mary Louise Reardon, 92, Maryville died February 3, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.

Mary was born in St. Joseph, MO , February 1, 1923, to Theodore F. and Esther (Neidel) Palmer. They preceded her in death. She married David M. Reardon January 18, 1955. David passed away in 1984.

Mary was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a degree in Education. She taught in Filmore, MO. She also worked at the J. C. Penny’s store in St. Joseph as well as Meyers Decorating, Leroy’s Store of Colors and the Nodaway Packing Plant. Mary was also a master seamstress and quilt maker.

She was a 70 year member of Beta Sigma Phi. Mary was an Alumni of Northwest MO State. Mary was active at the Nodaway Senior Center and a member of the Red Hat Ladies. Her hobbies included sewing, playing cards, bingo, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Left to mourn her passing are her son Steven and wife Melinda Reardon of Liberty, MO. Two granddaughters Allison, and Bailey Reardon of Liberty, MO. Brothers, Marvin Palmer of Minneapolis, MN, Wendel (Irene) Palmer of Barnard, MO and Don (Marilyn) Palmer of Hannibal, MO. Sister, Jeri Patterson of Maryville. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and one great great nephew.

A Funeral Mass for Mary Louise Reardon will be held Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church at 11 AM. Visitation will be 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM at the church.

Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Maryville following the service.

Ferman Dean Reed, 90, Maryville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Mosaic Life Care, Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Ferman was born December 16, 1924, in Quitman, Missouri to William Jennings and Mabel Percy (Lowe) Reed. He married Betty Culver Reed August 31, 1947, in Burlington Junction, Missouri.

Ferman served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.

He had worked at the Co-op Elevator and was a retired farmer.

A member and Deacon of Laura Street Baptist Church in Maryville, he also belonged to the Rolla Dicks American Legion Post #315, Burlington Junction, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Culver) Reed (September 19, 2014) and brothers Vernon, Emmett, William, and Lloyd Reed.

Ferman is survived by four children: Janet (Terry) Root, Saint Joseph, MO; Leon (Marilyn) Reed, Fairfax, MO; Leisa (Stan) Archer, Clarinda, IA; and Teresa (Al) Chavez, Kissee Mills, MO; five grandchildren: Corey (Sara) Root, Colin (Amanda) Root, Cody (Rachel) Root; Angela Keirsey, and Alex Archer; nine great-grandchildren; sister: Kathryn Benson, Fort Worth, TX; two sisters-in-law: Wanda Reed, Burlington Junction, MO and Josephine Reed, Maryville; and several nieces and nephews.

Tanya Lynn Reno-Hendrix, 58, of Maryville, MO, and formerly of Pickering, MO, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at her home in Maryville.

Tanya was born on October 4, 1956, in St. Joseph, MO. Her parents were Robert Lee Reno and Dorla D. (Vansickle) Taylor. She had lived for a while in south Missouri and moved back to this area in 1969.

Tanya had an Associate Degree in Business. She worked as a Level I Certified Med Aid at area nursing homes. She had also worked in the bakery at Casey’s. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Maryville, MO.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Reno; her grandparents; an aunt, niece, and her sister, Fawnla Jen.

Her survivors include her daughter, Malinda (Klye) Martin, Maryville, son Nekoma Hendrix, Maryville, her mother, Dorla D. Rosecrans, Marian B. King -

Marian B. Rosecrans, 94, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at St. Luke’s North Hospital, Kansas City, MO, on Saturday, March 29, 2015.
Born on January 19, 1921, in Hopkins, Missouri, to Roy W. and Neva Shearer King, Marian grew up on the family farm near Hopkins. She was graduated from Hopkins High School in 1939 and received her Associate Degree in Elementary Education from Northwest Missouri Teachers’ College.
In 1936, Marian met Earl Rosecrans, also of Hopkins, when he was Superintendent of Sunday School for the Wray Memorial Methodist Church, and she was the Secretary/Treasurer. On June 2, 1942, (the 25th anniversary of her parents), they were married in Hopkins.
Marian and Earl lived on a farm west of Hopkins. Earl farmed until 1946 when they moved into town while starting Rosecrans Construction Company. After having two daughters, Karen and Janet, Earl and Marian established Rosecrans Chevrolet in May of 1951, continuing the dealership in Hopkins, Missouri for 37 years.
In Hopkins, Marian was a member of the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Chapter K, PEO, Hopkins Community Club, the Art Club and Bridge Club. In 1993, Marian and Earl moved to Kansas City to make their home.
Marian became a member of the Avondale United Methodist Church, Avondale United Methodist Women, the Elizabeth Guild, Chapter JC, PEO, and the North Kansas City Hospital Auxiliary. She also continued to be a member of the Maryville alumni chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority.
Helping care for and attending the activities of grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a source of great joy. Marian also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending music and theater events, and recording stories for her family.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Earl Rosecrans, and by her son-in-law, Ted Garcia.
Marian is survived by her daughter Karen and husband, Stephen Mathews of Gladstone, MO; daughter, Janet Rosecrans-Garcia, and grandson, Jerrod Garcia of Yorba Linda CA; grandchildren Stephanie and Matt Hashagen of Shawnee KS; Drew and Angela Mathews of Kansas City, MO and great-grandchildren Samuel and Kate Hashagen and Avery, Aleah and Aiden Mathews.
Marian had incredible inner strength and leaves a legacy of one who always strived to have a positive attitude.
Visitation will be held at Price’s Funeral Home in Maryville, Wednesday, April 1, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Private family burial will be at the Hopkins Cemetery.
A service honoring her life will be held Saturday, April 11, at McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff (the retirement community where Marian resided) at 2 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Center on the 2nd floor followed by social time in the City Lights on the 4th floor. Rudicel, Doris E. Shields Riley

Doris E. Riley-Rudicel, 97, of Papillion, NE, and formerly of the Maitland and Maryville, MO, areas, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2015, at a health care facility in Papillion.

Doris was born in Maitland, MO, on August 22, 1917, to Elmer Guy and Lillian Belle (Weller) Shields. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her first husband, Ray Lewis Riley, whom she married in 1941. He passed in 1994, after 53 1/4 years of marriage. She married her 2nd husband, Donald Rudicel in 1995, and he passed in 2003, after 8 1/3 years of marriage; also preceding her was her brother and sister in law, Lester W. and Pauline (Caton) Shields, her brother in law, Maurice D. Wyman, and her grandson, Brent L. Riley, and great granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Riley.

Doris was a graduate of the Maitland High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education and later her Master's in Education from NWMSU, in 1978. She taught school for 32 years, the first years in the Gordon and Lincoln country schools, then 8th grade in Graham, MO, the 3rd grade in Maitland, and retired in 1981, after 17 years teaching English in the Mound City School District.

Her memberships included the Maitland Methodist Church; Delta Kappa Gamma, DAR of Nodaway County; PEO Chapter AL; Rosanna Chapter 262, of O.E.S. Maryville, MO; Retired Teacher of Holt County; and the Maitland Town and Country Extension Club.

Her survivors include her 2 sons, Philip L. (Marjorie) Riley, Kansas City, MO, and W. Eric Riley, Papillion, NE; sister, Eileen Wyman, St. Joseph, MO; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Guy (Mary) Riley, Oakview, MO, Victoria M. (Jerry) Steele, Kansas City, MO, Austin H. Riley, and partner, Ryan McKeel, San Francisco, CA, and Audra D.(Brandon) Bettis, Anchorage, AK; 9 great grandchildren, Gavin and Allie Steele, Aurora, Bethany, and Johnny Riley, Jackston and Olivia Bettis, Nick and Zach Kerns; Step Son, Don (Mary) Rudicel, Simpsonville, KY, 2 Step daughters, Carla Voran, Paola, KS, and Joni (Ed) Cornelius, Littleton, CO; 7 step grandchildren, 17 step great grandchildren, 3 step great great grandchildren; a step brother in law and sister in law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Martha Nadine Saxton-Gaukel, 80, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015, at the Golden Living Center, Maryville.

Martha was born on July 19, 1934. Her parents were Adiie B. and Thelma G. (Taylor) Schank, and preceded her in death. She married Homer Lee Saxton in 1952. He passed away on January 12, 1970. Martha married James E. Gaukel on June 20, 1980, and he passed away on September 14, 2008. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Kenneth, Orland, and Cordell Schank, and a great grandson, Liam Saxton.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Larry) Heck, Maitland, MO, Dan (Cathy) Saxton, Bolckow, MO, Cindy (Phil) Morris, Oregon, MO, and a step son Scott (D'Ann) Gaukel, Wilcox, MO. Robert Alessandro Sears, 59, Clearmont, Missouri, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at his residence, Clearmont, Missouri.

Robert was born, September 22, 1955, in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Robert Lee and Josephine (Balano) Sears.

He married Jennifer Robyn Root, September 27, 2011, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Robert graduated from Lafayette high School, 1974 in St. Joseph, Missouri
and then played Triple A Baseball, with the Memphis Redbirds, an affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Robert attended the Clearmont Baptist Church.

Preceding in death were his parents and sister Victoria Sears.

Survivors include his wife Jennifer Sears of the home, sister Elizabeth Rider, Buchanan, Michigan, and brother Mark Sears, St, Joseph.

Kathleen Louise Sexson, 80, Barnard, Missouri, died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Kathleen was born June 24, 1934, in Barnard to William Wayne and Mary Lula (Sell) McBride.

A 1952 graduate of Barnard High School, she was a retired secretary for Mead Products. She married Eugene Kenneth Sexson November, 1983, in Barnard.

Kathleen attended Freeman Chapel Church, Stewartsville, Missouri, O'Howell-Strader American Legion Auxiliary and Mead Products 25 year club.

Preceding her in death were her parents, 1st husband Emmett Mattox, son William Wayne Mattox and brother Darrell McBride,

Kathleen is survived by her husband Eugene Sexson, of the home in Barnard; daughter Kathy Contreras, St. Joseph; grandchildren: Kristin (Caleb) White and Katelyn Contreras; five foster grandchildren; sister Marilyn Hilsabeck, Barnard; Brother George McBride, Maysville, Missouri and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Stephens, Thomas Joseph

Thomas Joseph Stephens, 74, of Maryville, MO., passed away on February 7th, 2015. Tom was born on November 20, 1940, in Kansas City, MO to James Douglas Stephens and Mary Elizabeth Falk.

Tom was a 1958 graduate of Southeast High School in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1968 with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and he was an active member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. Tom received his Master’s in Guidance & Counseling from Northwest in 1973.

Tom married the love of his life, Linda Klemme, on July 27, 1968, at the United Methodist Church in Maryville, MO. Tom and Linda remained in Maryville where they both dedicated their careers to education. Tom was the Vocational Guidance Counselor and Placement Coordinator for the Northwest Technical School for over 30 years. Tom also dedicated his time and talents coaching football at Maryville High School. In 2000, he was awarded Post-Secondary Counselor of the Year by the Missouri School Counselor Association.

Tom loved all things out-of-doors: hunting, fishing, gardening, tubing, taking care of his animals, and anything else that gave him a reason to be outside when the weather was nice. Above all, he loved the relationships he had with his family, friends, and students. Tom had the natural ability to light up a room with his sense of humor. To his grandchildren, “Papa” was always there with a hug and a smile. He gave to them a true sense of family, friendship, trust and love. He will be missed by all.

Tom is survived by wife, Linda Stephens; sons Brett (Kristi), Parkville, MO, Bryce (Charity), Liberty, MO and Todd, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brothers, Jim (Mary Anna), Prosper, TX and Joe (Beverly), Belton, MO; and five grandchildren; Julia, Madelyn, Noah, McKenna and Kierra and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and Aunt Eleanor Falk.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:30 PM Wednesday, February 11th, at First United Methodist Church, Maryville.

Edith L. Strauch, 96, of Maryville, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 2, 2015, at the St. Francis Hospital ER, Maryville.

Edith was born on August 5, 1918, in Robinson, KS, to Jesse and Vivian (Honer) Smith. The family moved to this area when Edith was very young and she lived in the area all her life. She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.

On February 3, 1940, she was united in marriage to Leland Strauch in Hiawatha, KS. Leland passed away in 1990. She was also preceded by her parents; her son, Roger Strauch, in 1973; her daughter, Sharla Sill in 2013; her son in laws, David Carter, and Cleo Sill; and her brother Ross Smith, and his wife Evelyn.

Edith is survived by her children, Kenneth (Sharon) Strauch, Skidmore, MO, Richard (Susie) Strauch, Barnard, MO, Donald (Carol) Strauch, Skidmore, MO, and her daughter, Wanda Sue Carter, St. Joseph, MO; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; her sister in law, Gladys Strauch, Maryville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and burial will be at 10:30 AM, on Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville. Rev. Bill Gazaway will be the minister.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM, on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville.

Stuart, Francis -

Fr. Francis Stuart OSB, 88, of Conception, Missouri, died Monday, March 30, 2015 at Pine View Manor, Stanberry, Missouri.

Fr. Francis was born August 14, 1926 in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Dr. Francis and Minnie (McLaughlin) Stuart.

A 1950 graduate of Rockhurst College, Kansas City, Missouri, Fr. Frances professed as a Benedictine Monk on September 3, 1957 and ordained a priest on May 27, 1961.

He served an an Assistant Pastor in many parishes, including St. Aloysius in Kansas City and St. John in Rapid City, North Dakota. Among the many parishes he served as Pastor were St. Bonaventure, McIntosh, South Dakota, St. Peter in Stanberry, Holy Ghost in Sharon Springs, Kansas and St. Lawrence Parish in St. Elizabeth, Missouri. He returned to the Health Care Center at Conception Abbey in 2009 and moved to Pine View Manor in 2013.

His parents preceded him in death.

In addition to his monastic community, Fr. Francis is survived by sisters: Helen Wingate, Edwards, Missouri and Mary Frances (Robert) Barr, Overland Park, Kansas; brother: John (Susan) Stuart, Shawnee, Kansas; nieces and nephews.

Visitation is in the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Conception, Missouri from 6pm Tuesday, March 31, 2015, with Vespers of the Dead at 7:15 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in the Basilica with burial following in St Columba, Cemetery, Conception.

Tompkins, Michael Steven - Funeral Services for Michael Steven Tompkins, age 65, of Clearmont, Missouri, who passed away March 12, 2015 in Chamberlain, South Dakota will be Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at The Ritchie Funeral Home in Clarinda, Iowa at 10 AM. Visitation will be Monday, March 16, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Ritchie Funeral Home. Interment will be at Hazel Dell Cemetery in Clearmont following services on Tuesday.

Michael Steven Tompkins was born, December 17, 1949, the son of James Tompkins and Peggy (Nichols) Tompkins. Mike grew up in the College Springs area and graduated from South Page High School in 1968. He farmed with his father in his younger years and often regaled family with stories of families and farms that he either ground feed on or worked the fields. In 1972 Mike married Naomi Derry and 2 days later he started work for Morton Buildings in Clarinda. He remained employed at Morton’s for the next 28 years. He enjoyed the challenges and his crew was consecutively in the top 10 of the company. His bonus included multiple yearly trips that he and Naomi enjoyed and looked forward too.

In 1974 Mike and Naomi relocated to Newhall, Iowa so that she could attend college for her nursing degree in Cedar Rapids. In 1998 Mike purchased his first Volvo semi tractor. For the first 2 years he drove nationwide, teaming with his daughter, Erica for West Side Transport in Cedar Rapids then later continuing to drive solo. Mike worked for Unigroup/United Van Lines for the past 10 years, first as a nationwide driver and then with a dedicated route, which he enjoyed most because he could be home part of the week. In 2008 Mike and Naomi relocated from Newhall, Iowa to Clearmont, Missouri where they purchased a farm.

Mike loved his family as well as his many friends. While driving long distances he would often be on the phone for hours. Mike was a giving husband, father, grandfather and friend who would help anyone out when needed. He was a good sounding board as well as very handy with suggestions. Although away from the farm, for years before returning to the Clearmont area, he was always a farmer at heart and that was reflected in the “equipment” that he kept. He looked forward to retirement when he would be able to completely focus on farming.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, James Tompkins as well as his grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife, Naomi as well as daughters, Erica (Jim) Young of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Sarah (Paul) Jarrett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and son James (Whitney Stoddard) of Clearmont, Missouri. Mike was proud of his grandchildren including grandsons Jackson and Charles Young and his granddaughter Hope Ann Cavin. He is also survived by his mother Peggy Nichols of Tucson, Arizona, sisters Susan (Rick) Reilly of Phoenix, Arizona and Jane (Mike) Lungren of Fairway, Kansas, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Helen and Dean Derry of Clarinda, Iowa

 

Trueblood, Reta Louise Spratt

Reta Louise Trueblood, 78, Grand Prairie, Texas, formerly of Burlington Junction, Missouri died Thursday January 15, 2015 at a Dallas hospital after a courageous battle against cancer.

She was born November 23, 1936 in Maryville, Missouri to Eugene and Neva Bice Spratt. She married Rex Trueblood on June 9, 1957 at the United Methodist Church in Burlington Junction.

Reta grew up in Burlington Junction and was a graduate of Burlington Junction High School. She was employed with JC Penney Company before becoming a homemaker in 1960.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ronnie Spratt and her husband Rex. Reta was a 15 year breast cancer survivor before succumbing to pneumonia aggravated by stage IV lung cancer.

She is survived by three children: Martha Tracy and her husband Kevin of Merriam, Kansas, Sam Trueblood and wife Cheryl of Westminister, Colorado, and Shawn Trueblood and his wife Jennie of Grand Prairie, Texas, and five grandchildren, Tracy Kelley and husband Alex, Logan and Hudson Trueblood, Beth Ann Tracy, Daniel Tracy and a brother Dennis Spratt.

Visitation will be at Price Funeral Home in Maryville, Missouri on Friday,January 23, 2015 from 6:00-8:00PM.

Services will be at United Methodist Church in Burlington Junction, Missouri on Saturday, January 24,2015 at 10:00 AM.

Wade, Stanley Lee -

Stanley Lee Wade, 82, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on March 4, 2015, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Stan was born on April 6, 1932, in Sterling, CO, to Lester and Lucille (Givens) Wade. He was a 1950 graduate of the Independence Kansas High School, then graduated from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS, and then earned his Doctorate in Education from the University of Kansas.

He held various coaching, teaching and school administration positions throughout the years, and he retired in 1990, as a Professor of School Administration at NWMSU, in Maryville. Stan served his country in the US Army and then the Missouri National Guard, retiring as a Colonel in 1987. He was called to active duty during peacetime Germany and Vietnam.

He married Peggy Sue Oesch in 1953, and she preceded him in death. He later married Dorothy Jean Waite. They lived in Clarinda, IA, and Florida for several years and returned to Maryville in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Peggy; brother Don Wade and sister Betty Hancock.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Maryville; daughters, Pamela (Tom) Rubel, Ankeny, IA, Terri (Jim) Milbank, Cicero, IL, Linda (Tom) Warman, West Des Moines, IA; 7 grandchildren, Christi (Sylvester) Tapia Scott (Natalie) Bantz, Wade Warman, Brad Warman, Jay D. Milbank, Tayler Milbank, and Reed Warman; great granddaughter, Ellie Mae Bantz; two step daughters, Heather (Steve) Griffith, Heidi (Darin) Orme; six step-grandchildren, Matthew, Sam, Max, Natalie, Evan, and Riley.

Stan loved family, football, and was an avid golfer. He was of the Methodist faith.

Mr. Wade has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home. A family service will be held at a later date.

Lt. Colonel Lowell Dean West, retired, 77, Maryville, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, Missouri.

Lowell Dean was born October 20, 1937, in Maryville, Missouri, the son of Truman Earl and Madeline (Fine) West.

A graduate of Horace Mann High School, Maryville, Lowell Dean made the US Military his career. He attended OCS at Ft Sill, Oklahoma graduating as a 2nd Lieutenant and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel with 30 years service.

He married Linda Jameson on November 28, 1992, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Lowell Dean was a member of the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers: Rick and Gale West.

Survivors include his wife: Linda West, of their home in Maryville, his son: Larry Dean West, Glenwood, IA, his children Casey (Jenna) West and Logan West, Omaha, Nebraska; great-grandsons: Jaxson and Layne West; daughter: Suzi Piveral, Westboro, Missouri; her children: Ethan and Evan Piveral, 2 stepsons: Kent (Betty) Tadlock, Rapid City, South Dakota; their children: Tara and Kristin Tadlock; Timothy Lee (Tiffany) Tadlock, Gallatin, MO, their daughter: Johnna; step- daughter: Missy (Chris) Clement, Barnard Missouri; her children: Libby and Brandon Bailey and step-children Hunter and Parker Clement; brothers: Jim (Diane) West, Florence, Colorado; Jerry West, Brownsville, Texas; sister: Sharon (Bill) Robison, Savannah, Missouri; sister-in-law: Candy West, Branson, Missouri.

Corbin was born on April 15, 2014, in Omaha, NE, he had lived in Clarinda, IA, before the family moved to Almont in July 2014.

He is survived by his parents, Bradley M. and Alexis R. (Porter) Wiederholt, 3 siblings, Tucker, Braxton, and Gauge Wiederholt, all of the home; paternal grandmother, Teresa (Chris) Davison, Braddyville, IA; paternal grandfather, Dennis Wiederholt, Conception, MO; paternal step grandfather, Mike Sullivan, Braddyville, IA; maternal grandmother, Traci (Carl) Shipley, Red Oak, IA; maternal grandfather, William Porter, Elmo, MO; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Georgia Maurine “Corky” Wiederholt, 85, of Conception, MO, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Golden Living Center with her family at her side.

Corky was born on April 19, 1929, in Clyde, MO, to Clarence and Genevieve (McLaughlin) Merrigan, they preceded her in death. She attended grade school and graduated from the former St. Benedict’s School, Clyde, MO.

She married Gerald George “Jerry” Wiederholt on September 2, 1950, at St. Benedict’s Church, Clyde, MO. Corky was a homemaker, and had been a cook for 20 years at the Conception Abbey, in Conception, MO.

Corky was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sons, Patrick, Mark, Steve, and David Wiederholt, great grandson, Corbin Wiederholt; son in law Daniel From; sister Catherine Alice Sheehan, Kansas City, MO.

Her survivors include her children, Norbert (Barbara) Wiederholt, Lawson, MO, Cheryl (Rob) Downen, Holt, MO, Dennis Wiederholt, and Keith Wiederholt, Conception, MO, and Sheila (Darrell) Schieber, Conception, MO; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sisters, Mary Mahoney, Viola Fowler, Monica Nelson, and brother, Terry Merrigan, all of Kansas City, MO, and Dee Elkins Ruby, Chandler, AZ; 2 daughter in laws, Kimberly Wiederholt, Conception, MO, and Teresa Wiederholt, Maryville, MO.

Willis, Clifford E. - Clifford E. Willis, 89, of Inwood, Iowa, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Fellowship Village in Inwood, Iowa.

Abiding by his wishes, he will be cremated and inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maryville, Missouri. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church in Maryville on Saturday, January 17 at 10:00 A.M.

Clifford Eugene Willis was born December 4, 1925 near Cainsville, Missouri to Vincent and Laura (Higdon) Willis. Clifford grew up in the Cainsville and Nodaway areas. He attended St. Benedict’s High School, Clyde, Missouri graduating in 1943. He served his country with the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific from 1944 to 1946. Following his honorable discharge from the Marines, Clifford attended Iowa State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education in 1950. Cliff taught Vocational Agriculture from 1950 to 1951 and then was recalled to the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Following his discharge from the Korean Conflict, Cliff continued to teach Vocational Agriculture for sixteen years to Veterans on the GI bill.

For the majority of his life Cliff worked with agricultural products, designing liquid feed programs and designing additives for feed. He also worked with crop foliar sprays, soil amendments, and grain roasters. He would work independently and then market his programs and products to larger firms. Cliff lived in Le Mars for several years prior to moving to Inwood, Iowa. Cliff was very much an entrepreneur who always enjoyed a challenge. He was a true student of the soil, and his lifelong journey into the health of the soil left a benchmark for agricultural products as we know today and an everlasting impression on agronomy.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Farnan of Cameron, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Willis of King City, Missouri; and twelve nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Laura (Higdon) Willis; and five siblings: Dolores Cummins of Maryville, Missouri; Donald Willis of King City, Missouri; Dorothy Willis of Omaha, Nebraska; an infant brother Raymond; and an infant sister Agnes Loretta.

Mary Louella Wilmes, 68, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Mosiac Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Mary Lou was born in Maryville, MO, on December 6, 1946, to Vilas Earl and Marie Luella (Sturm) Pope. She was a graduate of the former St. Patrick’s Grade School, and the former Mount Alverno High School, both of Maryville. Mary Lou was a lifelong resident of the Maryville area.

She was a Realtor with the Remax/Priority One Realty, Maryville, MO. She attended St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville. Preceding her in death were her parents; brother in law, Gerald Foster, and sister in law, Marcella Pope.

On September 24, 1966, she was united in marriage to Carlos Francis Wilmes at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville. He survives of the home.

Mark was born in Maryville on May 29, 1959, to Don and Dolly (Rodriguez) Wyatt. He graduated from Maryville High School in 1977, and held various jobs in the Red Oak and Braddyville areas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Dolly Wyatt, and his companion, Kathy Gearhart, in 2008.

Mark is survived by his brother, Mike (Pat) Wyatt, Maryville, his sister, Cindy Adams, Braddyville, nephew Jesse Adams, Braddyville, nieces, Tracy (Shad) Brown and their children, Saige and Tadyn, Clarinda, Renee (Tim) McMahon, and son Cian, Dubuque, IA, Brianne (Gus) Catalano, Overland Park, KS; stepson Justin (Laura) Gearhart, and their children, Michael Allen, Owen Robert, Ellie Kristine and Grady Wyatt Gearhart; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Vilas Earl Young, 92, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, surrounded by family. He was born the middle of three sons on November 16, 1922, near Ridgeway, MO, to Earl Caleb and Leona Fay (Smith) Young.

He attended the White Oak country school near their home and graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1940. He received his bachelors in 1946 from the University of Missouri, following his military service in WW II. He received his Master of Science degree from the University of Missouri in 1974. He was stationed in Guam with the US Marine Corps during the war. He was later in Germany with the Missouri National Guard during the Korean Conflict.

He married Marguerite Gutekunst on September 12, 1948, in Moberly, MO, and they lived in Moberly, Ridgeway, Gallatin and in Maryville since 1964.

From 1957 to 1982, he worked in Missouri Extension Service in Gallatin and Maryville, MO. He later worked as an agriculture advisor for Bank Midwest. His was a member of the Host Lions Club, Men’s Forum, and the First Christian Church, all of Maryville. He served as a member and past president of the Maryville R-II School Board, was a council member and past Mayor of the city of Maryville. He was a long-time supporter of Mozingo Lake project and the NW Technical School. He was also a volunteer with the Meals on Wheel program and the Ministry Center, all of Maryville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marguerite in 2014, and his son, Jeffrey; his brothers Gerald and Vern Young; and a cousin who was raised in their home, Darryl Francis.

Mr. Young is survived by his children and their spouses: Anita (Jerry) Dew, Maryville, Janice (Jim) Meyer, Ankeny, IA, Nina (Paul) Nickerson, Maryville, Ellen (Bob) Ferguson, Maryville, Nancy (Paul) Costello, Kansas City, MO, and Dr. Eric (Nanette) Young, Ft. Collins, CO; grandchildren, Jennifer (Doug) Salvo, Jon (Lisa) Nickerson, Jeff Nickerson (Casey Abington), Rob (Amy) Ferguson, Dan Ferguson, and fiancée Elaine Angerer, Brian (Miranda) Ferguson, Lauren (John) Springli, Elizabeth Young, Matthew Young, Becky (Nate) Crosby, Allison (Kevin) Punch, and 1st Lt. James Costello; great grandchildren, Katie Salvo, Claire and Ava Nickerson, Sam, Madeline, and Noah Ferguson, Conner and Joel Ferguson, Keaton Crosby, and Elliot Punch; cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mr. Young has been cremated and his memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2015, at the First Christian Church, 201 W. 3rd, Maryville, MO 64468. The committal service will follow at the Miriam Cemetery, also of Maryville. Military Rites at the cemetery will be conducted by the Missouri Military Honors Detail, and members of the James Edward Gray American Legion Post 100, Maryville.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at the First Christian Church, Maryville. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church, the Maryville Host Lions Club, or the Nodaway County Office of the University of Missouri Extension. They can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
