Born Jan 20, 1928 in Maryville to Harry R. Tilson and Lois Esther Carter, she was employed by Social Services, Division of Family Services.

She married Charles L. Baird Sept 6, 1947 in Maryville.

Mrs Baird was a 1945 graudate of Maryville High School and attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College, Maryville. She was a member of the Rock Port Christian church.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Survivors include two sons, David Baird, Maryville and James Baird, North kansas City; two daughters, Mary jane Miller, Maryville and Betsy A. baird, Liberty; one brother, Bill Tilson, Topeka,Kas; six grandchildren; one nephew and numerous nieces.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 pm Sunday at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Services will be held at 10 am Monday at the First Christian Church, Rock Port. The Rev Daniel Price will officiate.

Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Monday in the Nodaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Maryville and will be conducted by Abbott James Jones OSB.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bland, John W.S. was born in Liberty, Union Co, [state?] Apr 24, 1843 and died in Hopkins, Missouri Feb 18, 1908. He left Indiana when he was 12 years old with his parents and came to Iowa, remained until 1869 then to Nodaway County, Missouri. In 1867 he married to Mary Chadwick and to them was born one daughter, Daisy Mattern of San Francisco, California. His wife died and in 1870 he married to Mary Hutchison. To them was born one daughter, Nora Davidson. He was a veteran of the Civil War being in the 36th Iowa Vol Infantry. He had three sisters and two brothers. Two sisters and one brother had made their home with him this winter, Mrs Candace Gregory, Miss Mary M. Bland, and E. Bland. Another brother, W.B. Bland is of Idaho and a sister, Mrs Abrenith Faulkner of Red Rock, Oklahoma. He joined the Church of Christ 19 years ago. Brown, Howard 94, of Sheridan, died Thursday, March 29, 2007, at the Village Care Center, Maryville, Mo.
He was born Dec. 6, 1912, the son of Lee and Flora (Stutesman) Brown. He was a graduate of Sheridan High School.
Howard married Penny Zelda Hicks on Sept. 28, 1948, in the State of Washington.
A farmer, he was a member of the Sheridan Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mavis Palmer and Ina Nally; and a brother, Orville Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Penny Brown, Maryville; two stepsons, Aaron Mosley, El Paso, Texas; and Homer Arnold Mosley, Upland, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Wanda Hallman, Ben Lomond, Ark.; a half brother, Orren Lester, St Louis, Mo.; two stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Hopkins, Mo. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at the funeral home.

Ruth Eileen Blackford was born February 28, 1915, at Clarinda, Iowa. She was a 1933 graduate of Clearmont High School. On December 25, 1935, Ruth was united in marriage to Lee Blackford. They farmed in the Clearmont and Burlington Jun ction area. Ruth moved to Atlantic in 1982 after the death of her husband to be near her daughter.

She loved the Lord and was an active member of her church; she enjoyed her church work. Ruth also enjoyed crocheting, cooking and gardening. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding Ruth in death were her parents; husband, Lee Blackford (10/26/1982); son-in-law, Richard Ferguson. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Ferguson of Atlantic, Iowa; grandchildren, Tammie Cass and husband Mike of Fountanelle, Iowa; Kevin Ferguson and wife Cyndi of Atlantic, Iowa; great grandchildren, Kelsie Ruth Cass, Christopher Cass, Shelbie Ferguson, Andrew Lee Ferguson and Jenna Ferguson.

Blackford, Ruth Eileen, 90, Atlantic, IA, formerly of Clearmont and Burlington Jct. areas, died Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at the Heritage House, Atlantic. [137] Boyer, Gilbert, 93, Barnard, Missouri, passed away at home Tuesday, February 12, 2008.
He was born January 1, 1915, in Burlington Junction, Missouri, to Ray Herman and Elma (Nicholas) Boyer.
He graduated from Burlington Junction High School in the class of 1933. Gilbert was a loving husband to Mary Alice Helzer who preceded him in death on August 15, 2003.
He was a member of the Graham Masonic Lodge AF & AM which joined the Savannah Lodge where he received a 50-year pin. He was a successful farmer and trucker, first in Burlington Junction and Graham, Missouri, before settling on his farm in the Barnard area in the early 1950’s.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy McKain; his parents and five brothers, Ralph Boyer, Ernest Boyer, Donald Boyer, Robert Boyer and David Boyer.
Gilbert was the father of seven children, six of whom survive him with their spouses: Carolyn Wells, Lake Worth, Texas; Patricia and Thomas Brost, St. Joseph, Missouri; son-in-law, Larry McKain, Gladstone, Missouri; Mike and Marcia Evans, Rock Port, Missouri; Ken and Barb Evans, Overland Park, Kansas; Mark and Jeaneen Boyer, Faucett, Missouri and Barbara Cowan, Barnard; grandchildren: Scott and Sandy Rasco, Michelle Herring, Shannon and Caitlin McKain, Annah Pettlon, Tricia, Karley and Joshua Evans, Alicen Boyer, Tim and Laura Cowan; great-grandchildren: Chris, Ashley, Mark and Karen Rasco, Hannah Herring, Keyton, Jaxon and Anastyn Pettlon; great-great-grandchildren: Kaleb and Caitlin Rasco; nieces and nephews.
Gilbert’s small country home overflowed with family and love at each holiday and family occasion. He appreciated the community and good neighbors that added to his enjoyment of life.

[138] Bragg, Darlene L., age 80, of Burlington Junction, Missouri, passed away Thursday evening, April 7, 2005, at the St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri. She was born July 27, 1924, at Wilcox, Missouri, to Charles and Elva (Hosteter) Harden.
She graduated from the Burlington Junction High School in 1942. Ruby was a member of the First Christian Church, Burlington Junction and a member of the NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees).
She married Robert Bragg, August 4, 1955, at Tarkio, Missouri and they have shared forty-nine years of marriage. They have lived their entire married life in Burlington Junction.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Robert of the home in Burlington Junction, Missouri; two daughters, Darla Burson and husband Ron of College Springs, Iowa and Sally Farley and husband Glenn of Elmo, Missouri; two sons, Robert Bragg, Jr. and wife Norma of Elmo, Missouri and Stephen Bragg and wife Margaret of Minneapolis, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wilford Harden and a sister, Donna Jean Harden.
Funeral services are Monday, April 11, 2005, at 2:00 P.M., at the First Christian Church, Burlington Junction, Missouri. Burial will be at the Wilcox Cemetery, Wilcox, Missouri. Visitation will be from 7-8 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the First Christian Church or to the West Nodaway Rescue Unit. Maryville - Robert J. "Bob" Brown, 80, died September 17, 2007 at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Born on November 3, 1926 to Rollie J. and Mildred Brown in Albia, Iowa. He graduated from Albia High School where he was an All-Star basketball player. Bob married Irene Mumford in 1950. To this union two daughters were born. They later divorced and he married JoAnn (Havet) Grasty in 1974. Bob and JoAnn co-owned and operated Bob's Janitorial Service where they proudly served Eveready Battery Company for 17 years. Bob had previously been a member of the Elk's Club. Bob is survived by his loving wife of the home, two daughters, Janet Myers, Laguna Vista, TX and Marcia Jordan, Maryville, a sister, Margaret Peterson, Turlock, CA, two step daughters, Sharon Leslie, Savannah, MO, Shirley Carver, St. Joseph, MO, two step-sons, Gary Grasty, Clarinda, IA, and Albert Grasty of St. Joseph, MO. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-dad, sister, Barbara Blew and grandson, Clayton Myers.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville. Following the services, Final Resting Place will be at 4:00 P.M. in the Forest City Union Cemetery, Forest City, MO. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. [144] Brown, Roberta N. Brown, age 95, of McKinney, Texas, formerly of Burlington Junction, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2005, at the home of her daughter.
She was born November 1, 1909, to William E. and Chloe Taylor Nicholas, Jr. near Burlington Junction, Missouri. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Elmo, Missouri.
She married John D. Brown, May 2, 1934, at Leavenworth, Kansas and he preceded her in death in 1985.
She had a B.S. in Education and taught for thirty-seven years before her retirement in 1972.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Robert Nicholas.
She is survived by a daughter, Cherye Rodgers, McKinney, Texas; a granddaughter, Michelle Rodgers-Babin and her husband, David, McKinney, Texas, a sister-in-law, Neva Nicholas, Burlington Junction, Missouri; a nephew and a great nephew.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at the Barr-Merrick Funeral Chapel, Burlington Junction, Missouri. A private burial will be at a later time.

Rites Held Here Saturday For Mrs. Delia Baldwin, 80

Mrs. Delia Baldwin, 80, died at 2:08 p.m. Thursday March 30, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, where she had been a patient over two weeks. Although Mrs. Baldwin had been in failing health, in recent years, she was able to care for her own home and attended church and community affairs until her last illness.

Delia Catherine King, daughter of the late William F. and Syntha Emannd Buzzard King was born May 30, 1886, near Pickering. She atttended Mount Pleasant rural school and later moved with her family to a farm near Hopkins.

She was married August 9, 1903 to Bert Baldwin. The couple spent their married life on a farm in the White Cloud community, southwest of Hopkins. After the death of her husband in 1938, Mrs. Baldwin remained on the farm until 1945. Then she moved to Hopkins, where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church, Hopkins. She was a charter member of the White Cloud Social Neighbors Club and the 60-Plus-Club.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Champ Rice, (Sylvia), Pickering, Mrs. Vernon Colville (Ruby, Maryville, Mrs. Calvin Inman (Louise), Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Ellis Fine ( Jessie), Mrs. Eldon Clayton (Lorena) and Mrs. Erville Allison (Helen) all of Hopkins, two sons, C.T. Baldwin, Maryville, and Harold Baldwin, Hopkins, one brother, Harry King, Maryville, one sister-in-law Mrs. Allie Cleman, Hopkins, 27 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant sister and a brother Edgar.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church, Rev. Loyd Means, Gower, Missouri formerly of Hopkins, assisted by Rev. Fred Paxton, Savannah district minister officiated.

Mrs. Wayne White sand "Abide with Me" and "Beyond the Sunset, Sunrise", accompanied by Mrs. L. R. Wiley organist.

Serving as flower ladies were, Mrs. S. E. Jones, Mrs. Henry Brown, Mrs. Howard Null, Mrs. Edwin Burch, Mrs. Galen Ulmer, and Mrs. Edward Morehouse.

Pallbearers were Galen Ulmer, Albert P. Morehouse, Harold Ringold, Howard Ringold, Edwin Burch and George Lowry. Burial was in the Hopkins Cemetery.

Swanson Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements. The family met friends at the funeral home Friday evening at 7:30.

Relatives who came from a distance to attend the services were Mrs. Calvin Inman, Los Angeles, California, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Fine, Stuart, Iowa, Mrs. Duane Quinn and daughters, Debbie, Sharon and Sandy of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, Mrs. Phil Davis, Fort Collins, Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Foster, Glenwood, Iowa.
