Margaret Abigail Cadle Barrett Weable (1858-1941)

 

Mrs. James Weable of Burlington Jct. Dies – Mrs. James Weable, 82 years of age, died at 1 o’clock this morning at her home in Burlington Junction.  She had been bedfast about a month, but had been in poor health several months previous to that time.

            She was born September 10, 1858, at Grant City and spent her early life in that community.  She was married Sepember 11, 1881, to William Barrett at Grant City.  Following his death she married James Weable.  She was a member of the Christian church.

            She is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Burten Barrett, Parker, Colo., and Orrlee Barrett, Quitman; fourteen grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon at the Christian church in Burlington Junction with Rev. Charles Carrico officiating.  Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery.  (The Maryville Daily Forum, February 11, 1941)

 

 

Orrlee Barrett (1882-1978)

 

            Orrlee Barrett, 95, Burlington Jct., died Thursday morning at St. Francis Hospital.

            He was born July 7, 1882, in Grant City, and was the son of the late, Frank and Margaret Wygart Barrett.

            Barrett had lived in Burlington Jct. For many years and had resided at the home of Mrs. Hildred Helms.  He was a retired railroad employee.

            Survivors included three daughters, Mrs. Lucile Earwood, Mrs. Viva Pearson and Mrs. Bessie Linke, all of Clarinda, Iowa, and 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

            He was preceded in death by three sons, Brice, Virgil and Orval Barrett.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Barr-Merrick Funeral Home, Burlington Jct.  The Rev. John Shipley will officiate.  Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery, there.  The family will meet friends from 7:30-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Born Janary 4, 1886, father Charles Preston Shroyer, mother Lavina Bell West.

 

Orval Barrett (1901-1975)

 

Born July 4, 1901, Gaynor, Nodaway, Missouri, father Orrlee Barrett, mother Pearl Shroyer Barrett.  Died June 11, 1975, Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri.

 

Bessie Marie Barrett Fesenmeyer Linke (1903-1983)

 

Mrs. Bessie Marie Linke, 80 of rural Clarinda died Friday afternoon at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha following a long illness.

            She was born Sept. 9, 1903, at Burlington Junction, Mo., the daughter of Orrlee and Pearl Shroyer Barrett.

            In April 1923 she was married to Lester Guy Fesenmeyer who preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1958.

            On March 20, 1964 she married Reinold G. Linke who survives.

            Besides her husband of the home she is survived by six children: Dale Fesenmeyer of Kansas City, Mo., Gene Fesenmeyer of Guadalahara, Mexicao, Fred Fesenmeyer of Eldon, Mo., Jerry Fesenmeyer of Longmont, Co., Mrs. Harry (Leona) Rubin of Clarinda, Mrs. Roy (Joan) Hughes of Clarinda; two step children, Roger Linke of Clarinda and Mrs. Jack (Luwana) Scribner of Framington, N.M.  There are 14 grandchildren and three step grandchildren.  Sisters are Viva Pearson and Lucille Earwood of Clarinda.

            Funeral services were held this Monday afternoon at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Kamprath officiating.

            Burial was in Clarinda Cemetery.

Brice Barrett (1906-1972)

 

Born July 24, 1906, Burlington Junction, Nodaway, Mo.  Parents Orrlee Barrett and Pearl Shroyer Barrett.  Married Viola McCleery, April 3, 1931 at Claremont, Missouri.  Divorced November 1934.  Married Edna M. Morgan August 1938.  The couple had five daughters.  Died April 7, 1972, buried Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction, Missouri.

 

Viva Mae Barrett Vermule Pearson (1908-2003)

 

Viva Mae Pearson, age 95, of Clarinda, Iowa, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at the Westridge Care & Rehab Center, Clarinda, Iowa.  Funeral Services were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Rev. John Clark officiating.  Open visitation was held at the funeral home.  Burial was in the Clarinda Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church, Clarinda, Iowa 51632.  Walker-Merrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

            Viva Mae Pearson was born January 24, 1908, to Orrlee Barrett and Pearl (Shroyer) Barrett at Burlington Junction, Missouri.  Viva was married September 4, 1924 at Bedford, Iowa, to Mike Vermule.  To this union two daughters were born: Delores and Bette. Viva was united in marriage to Ernest Pearson August 15, 1959 at the First Christian Church, Clarinda, Iowa.  Ernest preceded Viva in death January 5, 1978.  Viva loved to work on crafts.  She was well known for her doll collection.  Viva also like flowers and plants.  She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Viva was a member of the First Christian Church, Clarinda, Iowa and was very active when her health permitted.  Viva was very close to her sister Lucille and they enjoyed doing crafts together.  Viva and Lucille spent a lot of time together and enjoyed being a part of one another’s lives.

            Viva was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Bette Henderson; brothers: Orval, Brice and Virgil; and sister, Bessie (Fesenmeyer) Linke.  Survivors include daughter, Delores Rice of Phoenix, Arizona; son-in-law, Harry Henderson of Potosi, Wisconsin; step son, Jack Pearson and wife Darleen of Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren: Randy Henderson and wife Mary of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jeffrey Henderson and wife Nancy of Platteville, Wisconsin; Lonnie Henderson and wife LeLonne of Cassville, Wisconsin; Laurie Archambult of Phoenix, Arizona; Nikki Stern and husband Alan of Lecanto, Florida; Annette Herron and husband Ron of Omaha, Nebraska; great grandchildren: Johliah Henderson; Menzie Henderson; Carlie Henderson; Scott Henderson; Melissa: Jessica; Amy Herron; Justin Herron; Mason; Amy Stern; Kali Stern; sister, Lucille Earwood of Clarinda, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Johan Hughes and husband Roy of Clarinda, Iowa; Leona Rubin and husband Harry of Clarinda, Iowa; Dale Fesenmeyer and wife Etta of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; Gene Fesenmeyer of Rio Hondo, Texas; Fred Fesenmeyer and wife Marian of Eldon, Missouri; and Jerry Fesenmeyer and wife Beverly of Rio Hondo, Texas.

Lucile Elma Barrett Earwood (1910-2004)

 

            Lucile Elma Earwood was born May 19, 1910 to Orrlee Barrett and Pearl (Shroyer) Barrett at Burlington Junction, Missouri.  She passed away, October 7, 2004 at Westridge Care and Rehab Center in Clarinda Iowa.

            She married Dale Earwood December 2,1934 at Maryville, Missouri.  They lived most of their married life in Coin, Iowa.  Lucile later moved to Clarinda, Iowa to be near her sister Viva.  They did not have ay children, so Lucile mothered all the children in Coin as well as nieces and nephews.  She was a favorite of all of them.

            She loved flowers and plants and raised a beautiful garden every place she lived.  She and her sister Viva spent a lot of time together making crafts for friends and church bazaars.

            Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, brothers Brice, Orval and Virgil; sisters Bessie Linke and Viva Pearson; and niece Bette Henderson.  Survivors include nieces, nephews and their families, Leona Rubin and husband Harry of Clarinda, IA; Joan Hughes and husband Roy of Clarinda, IA; Delores Rice of Phoenix, AZ; Dale Fesenmeyer and wife Etta of Excelsior Springs, MO; Gene Fesenmeyer of Rio Hondo, TX; Fred Fesenmeyer and wife Marian of Eldon, Missouri, Jerry Fesenmeyer and wife Beverly of Rio Hondo, Texas; and many eat nieces and nephews and good friends.

            Memorial contributions in Lucile’s name may be directed to the Westridge Care & Rehabilitation Center in Clarinda, Iowa.
