Lauretta Jean Hagey was born October 18, 1930, near Burlington Junction,
Missouri, to Harold and Marcella (Lyle) Hackett. She graduated from
Burlington Junction High School. She was united in marriage January
4, 1951 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Burlington Junction to Donald
Hagey.
Lauretta was a homemaker
and wife and raised her five children and then she started a new career
as a certified nurses' aide. She has been employed at Beverly Healthcare
Center for twenty-eight years where she was devoted to the care of the
residents and a good friend to her co-workers. Her family and her occupation
were her main interests. She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic
Church.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Hagey of the home; five children,
Greg Hagey of St. Joseph, Missouri, Beth Sybert and husband Dewayne
of Mound City, Missouri, Janelle Frueh and husband David of Maryville,
Missouri, Lisa Conley and husband Terry of Gentry, Missouri, and Michael
Hagey and wife Jessica of Platte City, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren
and sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Culver and husband
Loren of Westboro, Missouri, Linda Davenport and husband Randy of Burlington
Junction, Missouri and brother, Bill Hackett and wife Teresa of Cedar
Rapids, Iowa and a sister-in-law, Mae Hackett of St. Joseph, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob Hackett.

[103] Hamilton, Arthur William,
son of James Elmer and Ethel Louise (Burrett) Hamilton, was born on
December 15, 1927, at Elmo, Missouri. He passed away on Tuesday, May
23, 2006, at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, where he had
been a resident.
His early life was spent in the Elmo area, where he grew up. Arthur
graduated from Westboro High School with the Class of 1946. On December
26, 1948, Arthur was united in marriage to Donna Jean Armstrong at Tarkio,
Missouri. Following their marriage they farmed at Elmo for six years
before moving to a farm near Northboro, Iowa, in 1955. Arthur continued
farming until 1968. At that time they moved to Maryville, Missouri,
where Arthur was manager of the Mutz Oil Company until 1980. He last
worked as a salesman for Baum Iron Co. in Omaha, Nebraska, until his
retirement. Upon Arthur’s retirement they moved to Mound City,
Missouri. Arthur later moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, where he lived out
his remaining years.
While living in Northboro, Arthur was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church in Shenandoah. When they moved to Maryville, he became a member
of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. Arthur enjoyed farming and raising
livestock. He had a special love for raising sheep. He also enjoyed
working in his yard and old Farmall Tractors.
Preceding Arthur in death were his parents, Elmer Hamilton, Ethel Louise
and stepmother, Delores Edna Hamilton. Survivors include his five children,
Donna Hamilton of Omaha, NE, Mary Tuggle and husband Jim of Shenandoah,
IA, Mark Hamilton and wife Barb of Winfield, IA, Jim Hamilton of Council
Bluffs, IA, and Jay Hamilton and wife Denise of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren,
Zachary and Molly Tuggle, Katie and Natalie, Megan, Trevor, Drake and
Craig Hamilton; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
“Dad tragically lost his mother at the young age of five. It was
something from which he never fully recovered. He was diagnosed with
prostate cancer in 1993. Dad gave it a good fight. He was persistent
and always had a dream. When it came to his children, he was always
there for us. May you be in peace Dad, with your mother ever so present.
See you later.”
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at 10:00 a.m.
at the Elmo United Methodist Church in Elmo, Missouri. Words of comfort
were given by Pastor Cynthia Dubovich. Musical selelctions were "The
Old Rugged Cross", "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing
Grace". Caring for flowers were Iva Hamilton, Joan Hamilton and
Izetta Castillo. Attending the memory register were Barbara Hamilton
and Denise Hamilton. Honorary bearers were Zach Tuggle, Trevor Hamilton,
Drake Hamilton, Craig Hamilton, Phil Morris, Glen Morris, Marlin Tiemann
and Don Adams. Casket bearers were Mark Hamilton, Jay Hamilton, Jim
Hamilton, Harry Hamilton, Joe Hamilton, Sr., Joe Hamilton, Frank Manes
and Keith Finley. Interment was in the High Prairie Cemetery at Elmo.
The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home of Shenandoah was in charge of the
arrangements.

[104] Hanes, Egbert George, 71, Ravenwood,
died Monday (Nov 17, 1986) at his home.
He was born Dec 10, 1914 to George Ellis Hanes and Mary Metta Reese.
He married Thelma Rose Cornett July 12, 1939, in Topeka, Kans.
Mr Hanes was a retired farmer and a member of the Ravenwood United
Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Weekend Wanderer's and
Good Joe's camping clubs.
He was preceded in death by a brother in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Rose Hanes, of the home; two sons,
J.R. (Janice) Hanes, Wellington, Colo and Eldon (Dannie) Hanes, Brookfield,
Mo; two daughters, Marifaye (Stephen) Wisemore, Kansas City, and Kathy
(Joe) Dennis, Kansas City; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren;
two sisters, Zenna Drake, San Jascinto, Calif and Myrtle Herde, Ravenwood
and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is anytime at the Price Funeral Home, maryville.
Funeral services are set for 10:30 am Thursday (Nov 20, 1986) at the
Price Funeral Home, Maryville. The Rev Sandra Monsees Davis will officiate.
Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ravenwood.

of her life in Burlington Junction. She was a member of the United Methodist
Church and the United Methodist Women's Society. She married William
I "Bill" Hann, March 15, 1952 at Kansas City, Missouri and
they have shared nearly fifty-three years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Bill of the home; her five children,
Beth and Mike Walker of Burlington Junction; Johnny and Connie Hann
of Greenwood, Indiana; Kathy and Jon Engstrand of Braddyville, Iowa;
Billy Richard and Shelly Hann of Corinth, Texas; and Jane and Steve
Nauman of The Colony, Texas; a sister, Judy Carroll of Omaha, Arkansas;
fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a number of
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two
infant brothers, Larry and Lanny Egbert.

Earl Hale, 83, Maryville, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007
in St. Joseph at Heartland Hospital.
Earl was born August 26, 1923 in Grant City, Missouri to Milo and Floy
(Coverdell) Hardy. Earl married Madge Ileana Bunker on July 18, 1945
in Troy, KS.
Survivors include his wife, Madge of 61 years; his children, David (Carolyn)
Hardy, Grant City; Barbara (Jim) Matteson, Bartlesville, OK; Karen (Frank)
Ross, Ames, IA; Nancy (Cliff) Penserum, Columbia; Mike (Carolyn) Hardy,
Maryville; Pat (Sue) Hardy, Grant City; Janice (Chuck) Borey, Grant
City; Darla Runyon, Steve Runyon, Maryville and James (Peggy) Hardy,
Afton, IA. Twenty-four grandchildren: Julia Moore, Jane Gabriel, Susan
Newman, Cynthia Studer, Brian Hardy, Joe Matteson, Zachary Ross, Jacob
Ross, Brandon Ross, Jerome Starke, Jonathan Starke, Tonya Hardy, Tony
Hardy, Tylor Hardy, Brett Hardy, Bart Hardy, Brad Hardy, Jared Harding,
Jana Harding, Jessica Borey, Levi Runyon, Jaque Runyon, Joshua Hardy
and Elizabeth Hardy; nineteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Gene
Hardy of Grant City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Milo Marion.
Earl enlisted in the United States Army November 12, 1942. He took basic
training at Camp McQuaide in Watsonville, CA; six months at Los Angeles
City College and Stanford University; three months at Camp Carson, CO
in the 89th Chemical Mortar Battalion and three months at Camp Gruber,
OK. Earl shipped overseas from Camp Shanks, NY in November 1944. He
landed in England and crossed the channel to LeHavre, France and moved
through Holland. Earl proudly served his country in the European Battle
of the Rhine and was also involved in the liberation of the Dachau Concentration
Camp in Germany. He returned home on the USS George Washington and landed
at New York Harbor on July 4, 1945 and was honorably discharged on December
15, 1945 at Camp Gordan, GA. Corporal Earl Hardy was awarded the Bronze
Star Medal by direction of President Harry S. Truman on June 2, 1945.
After discharging from the United States Army, Earl returned home to
Grant City, where he lived with his wife, Madge and family and farmed
for many years. Earl and Madge retired to Maryville in 1990, where they
enjoyed visiting with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Earl was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He took great pleasure in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren
and their many accomplishments. Earl was a member of the Grant City
Baptist Church since his baptism at the age of 14. He was a member of
the American Legion John Edgar Barnes Post #92 and the Veterans of Foreign
Wars.
Pallbearers will be Brian Hardy, Zachary Ross, Jacob Ross, Jerome Starke,
Tony Hardy, Brett Hardy, Bart Hardy, Jared Harding, and Levi Runyon.
Honorary pallbearers include Joe Matteson, Brandon Ross, Jonathan Starke,
Tylor Hardy, Brad Hardy and Joshua Hardy. Flower girls are Julia Moore,
Jane Gabriel, Susan Newman, Cynthia Studer, Tonya Hardy, Jana Harding,
Jessica Borey, Jaque Runyon and Elizabeth Hardy.
Visitation was Wednesday evening, January 17, at Andrews Funeral Home
in Grant City from 7-9 pm. Funeral services were set for Thursday, January
18 at 2 pm at the Grant City Baptist Church. Dr. Leland May officiated.
Burial was in the Grant City Cemetery.
Flower arrangements and plants may be sent to Andrews Funeral Home in
Grant City. Memorial gifts may be made payable to the Worth County Education
Foundation to be designated for the Earl and Madge Hardy Education Scholarship;

that has been instilled in this family by their loving and supportive

Kenneth Lee Hazleton was born January 26, 1913, in Page County Iowa,
to Arra Madison Hazleton and Maude (Bennett) Hazleton. He was a 1933
graduate of Clearmont High School.
On December 25, 1934, he was united in marriage to M. Allene Pence at
Clearmont, Missouri. Kenneth was a shipping clerk for Lisle Corporation
for thirty years, retiring in 1975. In his retirement he was an avid
gardener, a beekeeper and a woodworker.
He also enjoyed fishing and traveling. Kenneth was a member of the Shambaugh
Methodist Church. Kenneth was also a member of the I00F Oddfellows Lodge
of Clarinda.
Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents; wife, Allene (07/22/1999);
son, Kenneth Hazelton (03/21/2003); brother, Alva Hazleton and sister,
Fern Hasbrouck.
Survivors include his daughter, Kay Williams and husband Charles of
Ankeny, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Deborah Hazelton and friend Jim Woods
of Sidney, Iowa; grandchildren: John Hazelton and wife Melinda of Wichita,
Kansas, James Hazelton of Brookings, South Dakota, Joe Hazelton and
wife Stacey of Havre, Montana, Kristina Williams of Windsor Heights,

Born in Mercer County, Mo., Mrs. Heck was a teacher in rural schools
in Mercer and Sullivan Counties, Mo.
Surviving: adopted son, Allen, Kansas City; and grandchildren, Skylr,
Marcus and Heather Heck.

Maitland - Gladys Katharine Hefner, 93, formerly of Maitland, Missouri
passed away Saturday, July 21st in Loveland, Colorado at a health care
facility.
She was born in Eagleville, Missouri on August 27, 1913, the daughter
of Emery and Maggie Susan (Mumma) Wiley. Her parents and two brothers,
Leo and Ray Wiley, precede her in death. She attended elementary school
in Eagleville. She then moved to Maitland and graduated from high school
while living with her brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Lela Wiley.
In 1935, she married Floyd Hefner, also from Eagleville. They resided
in Maitland for most of their 52 years until his death in 1988. Gladys
continued to live in Maitland until 2005 before entering assisted living
in Maryville. She then moved to Loveland, Colorado. Music was a large
part of her life. She taught piano and organ lessons for many years,
sharing her love of music with hundreds, possibly thousands of adults
and children. Gladys had a teaching studio in Maryville. At the height
of her teaching career, she had over 50 students per week. Gladys was
also a professional musician and performed with her group for over 12
years. The Gladys Hefner Trio, fronted by her husband, Floyd Hefner,
played all over the region, for all kinds of events. The group often
headlined local supper clubs and was a popular choice for weddings,
anniversaries, and family reunions. Gladys was a member of the Maitland
United Methodist Church for most of her life. She started as a 16-year-old
assistant pianist and remained a part of the church family as either
the organist or pianist for almost 70 years. Gladys also parlayed her
love of music into a successful sales career, working for Bowman Music
in St. Joseph, as an outside salesperson. Although she battled health
concerns late in life, these challenges never changed Gladys's optimistic
and joyful view of life. She relished her time with friends and family
and was known for putting out one terrific meal after another at her
home in Maitland. She is survived by her children and their spouses:
Jim and Peggy Hefner of Maryville, and Sharon and John VanOrman of Loveland,
Colorado. Five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous members
of her extended family and a tremendous group of friends also survive
her. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26,
2007 at the Maitland United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the
Maitland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Maitland United Methodist Church
on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial

An operation was performed upon Mrs N.F. Hopper Sunday afternoon, by
Dr Killingsworth, assisted by Doctors English and Enfield, for rupture.
Mrs Hopper had been suffering for years from rupture, and on Sunday
became very much worse. The operation performed at the hospital was
successful, as far as surgical aid could go, but the trouble had gone
so far that the patient could not recover, and she died at four o’clock
this morning. The body was taken to Elmo, Mo, this morning on the eleven
o’clock train, for burial.

CARLSBORO, Okla. — Billy George Horn, 82, Carlsboro, formerly
Trenton, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005.
Born at Princeton, Mo., Mr. Horn was a retired machinist from the Navy
and civilian life.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving: wife, Wilma (Austin); daughter, Kathryn (Donald) Hatcher,
Carlsboro; son, Billy (Peggy), South Carolina; six grandchildren; and
nine great-grandchildren.

Born on April 30, 1946 in Maryville, MO, she was the daughter of the
late Oral & Obra (Merriett) Brown.
She was a graduate of West Nodaway High School. She had worked in the
retail business for 40 years as a sales clerk. Her retail career started
at D & S Western Sales and was employed with Ben Franklin/Easters
after its opening in Maryville. She also had worked for Wal-Mart for
the last 5 years. She loved working in the fabric and craft department.
She developed many lifelong friendships with her customers.
She had been a member of the Eagles Auxiliary #3669 since 1978 and
had served in various offices including President for 2 years. She was
an active bowler for many years and was a part of the Bearcat League.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Brenda Wren and husband Sam,
Mansfield, TX, granddaughters, Lauren and Samantha Wren, brother, Joseph
Brown, Box Elder, SD, Aunt & Uncle Charles and Joyce Drennen, Yorktown,
IA, Aunt Mary Jane Merriett, Burlington Junction, MO, many cousins and
friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Junction, Missouri, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital,
Maryville.
He was born February 16, 1910, in Stockton, Missouri, the son of Jacob
Clarence and Isabelle Maude (Caldwell) Hunt.
On October 26, 1935, Lester married Alice Marie Deaver, in Shenandoah,
Iowa. A farmer, Lester also worked in construction, having helped build
the St. Francis Hospital. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.
His family is very proud of his ability to have stayed in his own home
until his death.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, on April 21, 1993; his
parents; brothers, sisters and four grandchildren: Brian Stiens, Brenton
Wilmes, Derek Wilmes and Jennifer Reeves.
Survivors include his daughters and their spouses: Tanis and Jack Colwell,
St. Joseph, Missouri; Connie Wilmes and Bonnie Swalley, both of Maryville;
Jeanne and Gerald Jackson, Independence, Missouri; Gayla and Bob Reeves,
Bonner Springs, Kansas; Carole and David Middleton, Maryville and Joy
and Barry Harms, Franklin, Tennessee; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren
and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation was 6-7 pm, Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Price Funeral Home,
