James, Vivian L. Parish
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 29,1995, at the United Methodist Church in Elmo, Missouri, for Vivian L. James of Elmo. Reverend Jerry I Geisert officiated. Interment was made in LaMar Cemetery in Elmo under the direction of Price Funeral Home of Maryville, Missouri.
Vivian L. James, age 86, passed away Monday, January 23, 1995, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born September 16, 1908, in Leoti, Kansas, to Mamie (Clark) and D. Owen Parish.
Vivian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies, Mathematics and Vocal Music from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. She did her graduate studies at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville in History. She taught 23 years in Latham and Cunningham, Kansas, and also in Clearmont, Missouri, and West Nodaway High School in Burlington Junction, Missouri. She was a retired teacher at the time of her death.
Vivian married Merlyn W. James June 21, 1934, in Leoti. They moved to a farm in Elmo in 1934. Merlyn preceded Vivian in death May 2, 1980.
Vivian was a member of the United Methodist Church in Elmo, serving as choir director, pianist/organist for many years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and enjoyed being a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers' Association.
Survivors include: a daughter and her husband, Janis (James) and Don McCartney, Tulsa, Oklahoma; a son and his wife, Wayne and Dixie James, Elmo; six granchildren, Reta Massing, Mark and Marvin McCartney, Janene McEnaney, Randy James and Jill Cascone; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Barnum, Garden City, Kansas; and one sister-in-law, Helen James, San Benito, Texas.

Vivian was preceded in death not only by her husband, but also by her parents. Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Elmo or the LaMar Cemetery Association. [Tarkio Avalanche, Tarkio, Missouri, Feb 2, 1995]

James, Beula Pettit - Beula James, 84, Hopkins, died Monday, July 6, 1992 at St Francis Hopsital, Maryville [Missouri].

Born Jun 11, 1908 in Hopkins to Marion Albert and Mable Cowan Pettit, she was a homemaker.

She married Kenneth Isaac James on June 20, 1933 in Hopkins.

Mrs James was a member of the Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson and two sons-in-law.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Ehredt, Maryville, Mary Williams, Hopkins and Ruth Ellingson, St Joseph; one son, Dean James, Hopkins; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and three great-grandchildren [both say great-grandchildren].

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 pm Tuesday at Swanson-Price Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Glenn Owens, John O'Riley, Maurice Riley, Byron Stites, Jim Morrison and Richard Barclay.

Burial will be at Hopkins Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swanson-Price Funeral Home, Hopkins.

Jameson, David “June,” 82, Independence, died Thursday, January 29, 2009, at a Cameron hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 2, at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. Burial was in the Rouse Cemetery, Darlington.

Johnson, Lyllis Ann Chaney, 59, Tarkio, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, NE.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 9, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. Interment was at Home Cemetery, Tarkio, with Pastor Glenn Scott officiating.

Johnson, Nellie Marie Carmichael - Nellie Marie Carmichael Johnson, 91, died May 30, 2009, in Orange County, CA.
A service was held on June 5 at Loma Vista Memorial Park, Fullerton, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to ASPCA or any animal rescue organization.

 

Jonagan, Mary Elizabeth, Maryville, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2009. Born on December 25, 1915, she was the youngest of six children of Walter and Ethelene Scott of Ford City. She married Glenn Jonagan on December 28, 1932, and three children were born to this union.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters and her husband.
Survivors include her children, Jim Jonagan and wife, Joan, Sun City, AZ, Glenn Jonagan Jr. (Joe) and wife, Betty, Maryville, and Jerene Pittsenbarger and husband, Dean, Springfield. Her legacy continues with 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was proud of her children and their families and always delighted in sharing news of their activities and accomplishments with her friends. She was very proud that her parents and relatives were some of the first settlers in Gentry County. She leaves behind many friends and family who will miss her greatly for her sense of humor and big warm smile. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Parkdale Manor Nursing Home in Maryville for their kindness and care throughout her years living there and her illness.
A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 am, Saturday, April 11, and will be followed by a memorial service at 11:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Maryville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Ford City Cemetery or a charity of their choice in honor of Mary Jonagan.

Joy, Gerald "Jerry" - Gerald “Jerry” Joy, 71, Lawson, formerly of Conception Jct., died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City.
He was born November 9, 1937, in Maryville, the son of Stanley and Viola Wilson Joy. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School, Conception Jct.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm, Saturday, June 6, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ravenwood. Visitation is from 12 noon to 1 pm, Saturday, June 6, at Price Funeral Home.

Justus, Harry L. Sr "Bub" - Harry L. “Bub” Justus Sr., 72, Maitland, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at a St. Joseph hospital.
He grew up in St. Joseph and moved to the Graham-Maitland area in 1976.
Services were held Monday, June 15, at the Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Interment was at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham.
