Noffsinger, James W. - James W. Noffsinger, a well known farmer north of Wray [Colorado], died Wednesday, Sept 26, at the age of 59 years, 9 months and 21 days. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in this city, Saturday, Sept 29, conducted by Rev J.C. Strubel of the Presbyterian church. Burial took place in Grandview cemetery. James Noffsinger was born in Nodaway county, Missouri, Dec 5, 1863. On Jan 18, 1888, he was united in marriage to Miss Lillie M. Thompson, and to this union 12 children were born. One daughter, Mrs Jack Rice, preceded her father in death. Mr Noffsinger and family came to Yuma county [Colorado] in the spring of 1908 and have lived here since that time. He leaves to mourn his departure a wife and 11 children, his mother, Mrs Mary Wheeler, of Liberty, Mo., one sister, Mrs C.C. McGinnis of near Wray, two half-brothers, C.W. Noffsinger of Wray and B.F. Wheeler of Liberty, Mo., one half-sister, Mrs Tom Orr of Collins, Mo., and many other less near relatives. The children are: Mrs Frank Donavan of Harrisburg, Ore., Mrs J.F. Bireley? of Grand Junction, Colo., Mrs Willard Temple of Summersville, Mo., Orville, Charlie, Ray, Tony, Homwer; Hazel and Lulu Noffsinger, all of Wray, also Mrs H.C. Funk of Wray. Ravenwood - Robin Louise Newton, 53, of Ravenwood, passed from this life on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the St. Francis Hospital. Born on September 1, 1954 in Bellefontaine, OH, she was the daughter of the late Paul Russell Ansley and Margaret Pauline (Johnson) Ansley of Joplin, MO. She was employed as a Record Officer with the Maryville Treatment Center, Maryville. She was a member of the Faith Fellowship Church, Oregon, MO. In addition to her mother she is survived by her devoted husband, Tom Newton whom she married on September 4, 1976 in Madison, KS, loving daugther, Jacqueline West, Ravenwood, step-daughter, Kim Cousin, Topeka, KS, loving sisters, Peggy Ewens, Grain Valley, MO, Sandra Berry, Camdenton, MO, brothers, Ken Ansley, Webb City, MO, Larry Ansley, Carthage, MO, Steve Ansley, Milford, MO, grandchildren, Talina West, Alexis West, Rachel West. She was preceded in death by her father. Mrs. Newton has been cremated under the trusted care of the Danfelt Funeral Home. Needels, Mary Catherine, 87, of Ravenwood, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2006. Visitation will take place from 1 pm to 2 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at the Ravenwood United Methodist Church. Services will be held immediately following the visitation with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ravenwood. Mary Catherine was born August 9, 1919 near Parnell, Missouri and attended elementary and secondary school in Ravenwood. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Northwest Missouri State Teacher’s College in 1941. Mary Catherine earned her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Kansas City in 1949. She served in the US Navy WAVE’s during World War II as a Navigation and Link Trainer at Corpus Christi, TX. Following her service, she began her teaching career at the high school level at Dearborn and Grain Valley. From 1947 to 1963, she taught at the intermediate level in Kansas, Illinois and Michigan. She also lived in the Kansas City area for many years and taught at Dobbs Elementary School in the Hickman Mills School District from 1963 until she retired in 1981. Catherine was a member of the Ravenwood Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Association of University Women, Women’s City Club and Alpha Delta Kappa and remained active into her retirement years. She also attended Central United Methodist Church in Kansas City and was active in the women’s program. She loved the Lord and shared His love often with others. She also loved music and both sang and played the piano. Catherine traveled extensively throughout the United States and the world and was involved in cultural activities in the Kansas City area for years. She was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Aletha Needels; three brothers, Homer Needels, Aubert Needels and WA Needels, Jr.; three sisters, Zella Miller, Eileen Rogers and Virginia Winemiller; two infants siblings and two nieces, Karla K. Schmille and Katherine Pitts. She is survived by eight nieces and nephews, Gueynetha Garbe, Maryville; Byron Nowell Miller, Ravenwood; Carolyn Copeland, Carthage, TX; Bill Needels, Olathe, KS; Bert Winemiller, Houston, TX; Wanda Wilson, Prairie Village, KS; Gary Winemiller, Cape Coral, FL and Paul Needels, Belton, all of whom she held close. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Ravenwood United Methodist Church, PO Box 126, Hopkins, MO 64461-0126 in Mary Catherine’s honor. Niewald, Eddie, 91, Maryville, MO, died at home, Monday, August 14, 2006. He was born July 16, 1915, in Useful, MO to Henry and Talitha (Stohlman) Niewald. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps to see the world. His first assignment was at Bagnell Dam, 30 miles from his home. He came to Maryville with the CCC in 1935 and married Mary Amelia Zimmerman on February 18, 1939 in Maryville. They opened the first Eddy’s Market in Maryville in 1947 and later opened Eddy’s #2 and ran the stores until 1983. After retiring from the grocery store Eddie began his second career, gardening. For many years he worked several gardens and was a regular at the Maryville Farmer’s Market, which he started. He enjoyed and thrived on the work of the gardens, but his biggest reward was visiting with people at the Farmer’s Market and sharing his bounty with others. Aside from the stores, Eddie’s main passions were his church, the Maryville Hope Lutheran, which he was instrumental in founding, The Bethesda Group Home, for which he received the 1997 Follower of the Lamb Award for his work with them. Eddie was a Paul Harris Fellow and Honorary Member of Rotary International. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Niewald, May 10, 1997; four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his daughters and spouses: Diane and John Frey, Kansas City, MO and Becky and Mark Carnell, Oklahoma City, OK; son, Eddie Niewald, San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville. Funeral services were held at 10:30 am, Thursday, August 17, 2006, Hope Lutheran Church, Maryville. Survivors are wife, Dolores; sons, Wayne, Max, Marvin and Thomas, Goff; and Glen, Wetmore, Kan.; daughters, Mary Koch, Centralia, Kan.; and Doris Haug, Vermillion, Kan.; two brothers; five sisters; 36 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. Nicholas, Lois Elaine (Booze), daughter of Curtis and Elta Booze, was born August 14, 1916, and passed away July 25, 1939, at the home of her mother, Mrs Elta Booze, the same home in which she was born 22 years, 11 months and 11 days ago. In this community she was educated and grew to womanhood and at about 14 years of age united with the Baptist church of Hopkins. On December 9, 1936, she was united in marriage to Mr Lloyd Nicholas of near Tarkio, Mo. Her life, though brief, was like a beautiful flower, full of beauty and purity, leaving a lasting fragrance of love in the memory of her many friends. During her long illness she was taken to the St Francis hospital at Maryville, Mo, where her relatives and friends freely gave of their own blood to save her life. She was also taken to Iowa University hospital at Iowa City, but all human help failed to save her. Her devoted husband was with her constantly, also her mother and sister as much of the time as posssible, during her suffering which she patiently bore, always trying to smile for the sake of those who loved her. She leaves to mourn her going, her loving husband and mother, two sisters, Mrs Inez Melvin and Miss Virginia Booze of Clearmont, Mo, one brother, Herman Booze of Beardstown, Ill, two nephews, Orville and Billy Melvin, two nieces, Phylis and Evelyn Melvin, besides many relatives and friends, her father and brother, Earl, preceded her in death. Her aged grandmother, Mrs America Booze, who was cared for in the same home, passed away recently. Funeral services were held in the Baptist church at Hopkins and burial in the Hopkins cemetery. Rev Harley T. Busby officiating. Mrs E.H. Ulmer and Miss Frances Traster furnished the music accompanied by Mrs Lester Shell at the piano. The pallbearers were Gerald Browning, Delbert Browning, Robert Chesnut, Harold Ingram, Welton Wallace and George Cheshire.
