Hamilton, Arthur William - Arthur William Hamilton, son of James Elmer and Ethel Louise (Burrett) Hamilton, was born on December 15, 1927, at Elmo, Missouri. He passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, where he had been a resident.
His early life was spent in the Elmo area, where he grew up. Arthur graduated from Westboro High School with the Class of 1946. On December 26, 1948, Arthur was united in marriage to Donna Jean Armstrong at Tarkio, Missouri. Following their marriage they farmed at Elmo for six years before moving to a farm near Northboro, Iowa, in 1955. Arthur continued farming until 1968. At that time they moved to Maryville, Missouri, where Arthur was manager of the Mutz Oil Company until 1980. He last worked as a salesman for Baum Iron Co. in Omaha, Nebraska, until his retirement. Upon Arthur’s retirement they moved to Mound City, Missouri. Arthur later moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, where he lived out his remaining years.
While living in Northboro, Arthur was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shenandoah. When they moved to Maryville, he became a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. Arthur enjoyed farming and raising livestock. He had a special love for raising sheep. He also enjoyed working in his yard and old Farmall Tractors.
Preceding Arthur in death were his parents, Elmer Hamilton, Ethel Louise and stepmother, Delores Edna Hamilton. Survivors include his five children, Donna Hamilton of Omaha, NE, Mary Tuggle and husband Jim of Shenandoah, IA, Mark Hamilton and wife Barb of Winfield, IA, Jim Hamilton of Council Bluffs, IA, and Jay Hamilton and wife Denise of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren, Zachary and Molly Tuggle, Katie and Natalie, Megan, Trevor, Drake and Craig Hamilton; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
“Dad tragically lost his mother at the young age of five. It was something from which he never fully recovered. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1993. Dad gave it a good fight. He was persistent and always had a dream. When it came to his children, he was always there for us. May you be in peace Dad, with your mother ever so present. See you later.”
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the Elmo United Methodist Church in Elmo, Missouri. Words of comfort were given by Pastor Cynthia Dubovich. Musical selelctions were "The Old Rugged Cross", "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Caring for flowers were Iva Hamilton, Joan Hamilton and Izetta Castillo. Attending the memory register were Barbara Hamilton and Denise Hamilton. Honorary bearers were Zach Tuggle, Trevor Hamilton, Drake Hamilton, Craig Hamilton, Phil Morris, Glen Morris, Marlin Tiemann and Don Adams. Casket bearers were Mark Hamilton, Jay Hamilton, Jim Hamilton, Harry Hamilton, Joe Hamilton, Sr., Joe Hamilton, Frank Manes and Keith Finley. Interment was in the High Prairie Cemetery at Elmo. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home of Shenandoah was in charge of the arrangements.

 
Hamilton, Bernice Griffey - Bernice Hamilton, 94, Clearmont, Mo., passed away July 13, 2009 at Village Care Center, Maryville, Mo.
She was born January 30, 1915 in Clearmont, Mo., the daughter of Lee Everett and Emma Elizabeth (Kellogg) Griffey. Bernice graduated from Clearmont High School in the class of 1933. She married Willard “Wid” Hamilton on December 14, 1938 in Maryville, Mo.
Bernice was a homemaker and had worked in the Dietary Department of St. Francis Hospital over twenty-two years. She was a member of the Clearmont United Methodist Church, the Pinochle Club and the Sixty Plus Club, all of Clearmont. Bernice enjoyed traveling on bus tours after she retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Wid on June 21, 1968; her parents; brothers: Kenneth and Emeryl Griffey and sister: Iola Thomas.
Survivors include her daughters and their husbands: Hilah and D.C. Macrander, Clearmont, Mo., and Sue and Ron Davison, Braddyville, Iowa; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a sister: Beatrice Griffey, Maryville.
Visitation was held at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Clearmont, Mo.

Bernice (Hollensbe) Hanna, 101, of Maryville, Missouri died Monday, April 5, 2010 at St Francis Hospital, Maryville.

Mrs. Hanna was born January 1, 1909 in Pickering, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Sharr) Hollensbe. She married Henry Edison Hanna, January 1, 1930 in Savannah, Missouri.

A homemaker, Bernice was also the co-owner of the Hanna Paint and Wallpaper Store and a member of the Bloomfield Club, Maryville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edison (May 17, 1991); daughters: Marilyn and Charlene Hanna; her parents; brothers: Raymond and Lester Hollensbe; sisters: Anna Bell Houston and Maude Morrow and granddaughter: Tamara Joan Hanna.

Survivors include her children: Raymond (Shirley) Hanna, Maryville; David (Vonita) Hanna, St. Joseph, Missouri; and Karen (James) Faris, Gretna, Nebraska; grandchildren: Michael (Cleo)

Hopple, Susie Ellen Wilder - Susie Ellen Hopple was born January 27, 1908 at Ravenwood, Missouri the daughter of Willard Everett Stockton and Mollie Annis Wilder. She passed away July 9, 2008 at age 100 in Bedford, Iowa.
Susie enjoyed quilting her whole life, planted a huge garden, was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and a lifetime member of the Royal Neighbors of America. November 1929, Susie married Charles Wesley Hopple at Maryville, Missouri.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Sharon Brumfield, brother Robert Wilder and wife Opal, grandparents James and Cynthia Wilder, sons-in-law Elgin Brumfield and Parmer Rodgers, and half sister Fern Stockton.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Oney Mae Brumfield of Redding, Iowa; Robert Wesley Hopple and wife Winona of Gravity, Iowa; Helen Joy Galloupe of Neosho, Missouri; grandchildren Rick and Deloris Brumfield, Randy and Lydia Brumfield of Gravity, Karla Brumfield, all of Gravity, Iowa, and Paul Brumfield and wife Sue of Redding, Iowa, Cindy and Chris Copeland of Gravity, Iowa, Judy and Dave Hurley of Dyersville, Iowa, Bob Rodgers of Neosho, Missouri and Janey and Paul Fickbohm of Neosho, Missouri; half siblings Opal Stockton and Everett Stockton; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Services were held at Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel in Bedford, Iowa 5:30 p.m. on July 10, 2008 with Interment at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett, Missouri Monday July 14, 2008.

Hyde, Mildred "Bonnie" Evonne Shell - Mildred (Bonnie) Evonne Hyde, daughter of Fredrick and Clara Kenney Shell, was born June 11, 1921, in Colridge, Nebraska, and departed this life May 13, 2009, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years. A memorial service was held Friday, May 22, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel in Lebanon with Rev. David Scott presiding.
Bonnie grew up in the Wilcox and Maryville, Missouri area. On October 22, 1942, she was united in marriage with Thomas (Gene) Eugene Hyde and to this union was born four children. Gene served in the United States Army from March 1943 to November 1945 and from March 1947 to July 1965 when he retired as a Chief Warrant officer. Gene preceded her in death in January 2008.
Because of Gene’s service in the military, Bonnie, Gene, and their family moved frequently. They lived in Atlanta, Georgia, Killeen, Texas; Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; Pirmasens, Germany; and Niagara Falls, New York. When Gene retired from the Army in 1965, the family moved to Bedford, Iowa, and in 1977, to Lebanon. While living in Bedford, Bonnie was a quality-control inspector at O’Bryan Brothers.
Bonnie was always the definition of “homemaker.” She kept her home running smoothly and with great ease. She treated everyone as part of her family and welcomed them with open arms. At each of her homes, Bonnie grew and tended beautiful flower gardens.
Bonnie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon for many years. A gathering for family and friends was held at the church following her memorial service.
Bonnie is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Hyde, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of North Liberty, Iowa, and Charles Virgil Hyde of Lebanon; one daughter, Celia Warneke of Alamo, Texas; six grandchildren, Aryc, Aaryn, Tanya, Jeannie, Jennifer, and Brittney; and several great-grandchildren. Her nephews include Jesse F. Everhart III of Camanche, Iowa; Donald Everhart of Bedford; William Everhart, Williamsburg, Iowa; Fredrick Everhart of Grandview, Missouri; and Larry Dunning of Creston, Iowa. Ramona Hall Colburn Boatright of Rea, Missouri, is her niece.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Donald Hyde and her five sisters, Eva Everhart and Daphine McMullin, Bedford; Leona Hall Risley, Maryville and Alaska, and Leora Shell and Doris O’Dell, California.
