Musick, Marvin Lee - Graveside funeral services for Marvin Musick, age 78 of Lenox, formerly of Hopkins, Missouri, who died Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Lenox Care Center were held Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lutson Cemetery north of Sheridan, Missouri. Visitation was held Wednesday morning from 9 until 10:30 at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Bedford. Memorials can be given in his name. Memories can be shared with the family on our website at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.
Marvin Lee Musick was born November 7, 1929, in Sheridan, Missouri the son of Archie E. Musick and Velva Musick. He grew up in the Sheridan area, graduating from high school with the Class of 1948. After graduation he farmed with his father in the Sheridan, Missouri and Bedford, Iowa areas. He was united in marriage to Joann Morehouse and the couple had two children, Chuck and Melody. The couple later divorced and the children moved to Arizona.
Marvin later began working for Northwest Missouri State University in the Maintenance Department, a position he held for many years. After his eyesight began failing, he moved to Bedford and later to Taylor Ridge Estates in Lenox. When his health began to fail he moved into the Lenox Care Center. At both facilities, Marvin was known as a ‘true gentleman’, always being very courteous to everyone he came in contact with. Since his eyesight diminished his view of the world, Marvin always knew who was coming into his room by the ‘sound of your footsteps’. Always a happy man, Marvin made sure the entire staff had candy each holiday season, although he never ate any. His favorite colors were orange and pink and he would enjoy listening to people read the stories from Doc Lucas’ books “Birth In A Chickenhouse”. As a younger man, he enjoyed being outdoors and the lifestyle of farming.
Marvin is survived by his two children, Chuck and Melody, both of Arizona; a half-brother, Larry Musick and wife Pat of Hopkins, Missouri; a sister, Jean Cordell and husband Eldon of St. Joseph, Missouri; several grandchildren and a community of friends from the Lenox area.
Preceding Marvin in death were his parents and step-mother; a sister, Edith Ware and a half-sister, Marjorie McNeese.
