[104] Olson, Douglas A. Olson, age 79, of Elmo,
Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005, at Clarinda Regional Health
Center, Clarinda, Iowa.
He was born November 27, 1925, at Goodrich, Michigan, to Elinor E. and May
Annette Carolyne (Nelson) Olson. He moved to northwest Missouri as a child
and graduated from Amity High School, College Springs, Iowa.
He was a farmer and served with the United States Army during World War
II. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Elmo, Missouri, the
Bradley Carver American Legion Post of Elmo, a member of NRA (National Rifle
Association), and NFO (National Farmers Organization), and an EMT with the
local Rescue Unit. He loved to hunt and fish.
He married Betty Jo McIntyre, January 25, 1947, at the Methodist Parsonage
in Elmo.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo of the home, seven children: Jackie
and Gary McIntyre, Maryville, Missouri, Betty Lou and Richard Clements,
Hopkins, Missouri, Darrel and Laurie Olson, Cedar Edge, Colorado, Donald
"Skip" and Sharlys Olson, St. Joseph, Missouri, Kay and Gary Haith, Tarkio,
Missouri, May and Don Anciaux, Iowa City, Iowa, Nancy and Tom Patton, Craig,
Colorado; a sister, Onalea and Robert Huff, Bedford, Iowa; a step sister,
Ruth Peterson; step brother, Kenneth Peterson; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen
great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are planned for 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2005, at
the United Methodist Church, Elmo, Missouri. Burial will be at the High
Prairie Cemetery, near Elmo, Missouri. Visitation with the family will be
held Sunday afternoon 3-4 p.m. at Barr-Merrick Funeral Chapel. Memorials
may be directed to the United Methodist Church, Elmo, Missouri.

[107] Owens, Dale V., 73, Barnard, died Thursday,
December 27, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital and Health Services, Maryville.
A celebration of life was held Monday, December 31, at the Bram Funeral
Home Chapel, Maryville. Burial was in the Barnard Masonic Cemetery, Barnard.
The family suggests memorials to the St. Francis Hospital Foundation.

Dale V. Owens, 73, of Barnard, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville. Dale was born in Barnard on August 5, 1934 and lived most of his life in the area. He was a graduate of the South Nodaway R-IV High School, he was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of St. Gregory‘s Barbarigo Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Missouri Realtors Association.
Dale retired in 1988 as a USDA Meat Inspector. In 1993, Dale started the A Plus Realty Company in Maryville and operated that business until his death. Dale was also active in his cattle operation in northwest Missouri.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Orbin and Mary Beattie Owens; two brothers, Bob and Tommy Owens, and a sister, Lucinda Owens.
He is survived by daughter Kim and husband, Mark Stiens, Maryville; son Doug Owens, Parkville, MO; daughter Cindy and husband Paul Palmer, Maryville; daughter Jennifer and husband Chuck Abel, Winterset, IA; daughter Merv and husband Troy Hayes, Maryville; and two step-children Cindy and husband Phil Kenkel, Maryville; Chad and wife, Marilyn Platt, Kansas City, MO. Two sisters, Norma and husband Willis Sherry, Platte City, MO; and Carol and husband Gene Hale, Eucha, OK; a brother Gary and wife Kim Owens, Grain Valley, MO. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life in Dale‘s honor will be held on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. The service will held at the Bram Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, MO. Burial will be in the Barnard Masonic Cemetery, Barnard, MO. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007, at the funeral home. [108] Owens, Donald Le Roy, 77, went to his
mansion of rest and peace with our Lord on Friday, April 11, 2008 at his
residence in Columbia. He was born the eldest son and child of Lester Dale
and Doris Wilson Owens near Clearmont and raised on farms in the rural Hopkins
community. Don graduated from the Hopkins High School in 1947. He was born
into the body of Christ in the waters of baptism on October 29, 1944 at
the Unity Church of Christ.
Don did many chores from an early age, beginning field work at the age of
14. He became responsible for much of the upkeep of the machinery, fences
and buildings, as well as the livestock welfare as he matured. He enjoyed
singing as he worked and reading a world-wide variety of subjects for his
leisure.
Don married June Ellen Davidson on August 26, 1951, just before being drafted
into the United States Army. He served as acting supply sergeant for the
81st Reconnaissance Battalion of the First Armored Division during the Korean
War. June went with him to Kansas and Texas during his service years. Their
sons, David and Deric, were born at the Fort Hood Army Hospital.
After the army experience, Don farmed with his dad for three years before
moving his family to Columbia to attend the University of Missouri. There
Don and June bought and operated the Lee Street Shop. Their daughter Julea
was born there. Don graduated from the UMC School of Veterinary Medicine
in 1964.
Dr. Owens enjoyed his veterinary practice for 30 years. Most of his career
was spent in the Parnell area where he was a member of the Lions Club, the
American Legion, the Town Park Board and served as an Independence Township
Trustee. He enjoyed family activities, teaching his children life skills,
participating in church and the CB Radio Club meetings, square dancing,
hunting and vacation tours of the United States.
Don and June retired to Columbia to be near their children and old friends.
There, he enjoyed being with his grandchildren, gardening and other backyard
activities and local cultural events. He loved his family, his neighbors,
the family of God and new friends at the senior meal site—telling stories,
singing, teasing and sometimes sharing hugs.
Survivors include his wife, June; two sons: David and Deric and daughter
Julea Owens Gerhard and her husband, Art Gerhard; granddaughters: Bretta
Gerhard, Niall and Tatum Owens; grandsons: Drew Owens and Jacob Gerhard,
all of Columbia; two sisters: Shirley Stevenson, Burlington, IA and Betty
Dowden and husband, Weldon, Bartlesville, OK; two brothers: Wayne Owens
and wife, Ruth and Terry Owens and wife, Melodee, all of Hopkins; as well
as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special family friends, Linda Ighoyivwi
and Gary Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry
Dale Owens and a brother-in-law, Robert Stevenson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the Ravenwood Christian
Church. The final resting place was in the Hopkins Cemetery.

Maryville, died Friday, March 16, 2007, in a traffic accident in Maryville.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 19, 2007, at Community of Faith
Church. Burial was in Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.

education.
