After her 20 day fight against Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, Elli earned her angel wings in the early morning hours of Monday, September 9, 2008. Her strength and fight amazed all those who followed her difficult journey and she has been an inspiration to her family and friends.
Elli is survived by her parents, Brian Emmett and Cassi Erin Reed. Paternal grandparents, David and Shirley Reed. Maternal grandparents, Aaron and Teri Vorthmann. Paternal great-grandparents, Emmett and Phebe Reed and Dale and Darlene Florea. Maternal great-grandparents Dorsey and Patty Pope. Aunts and uncles include: Charles and Heather Linhart, Nathan Reed, Corey and Annie Vorthmann and Staci Vorthmann. Elli is also survived by many extended family members and countless friends.
Elli is proceeded in death by maternal great-grandparents Alfred and Bonny Vorthmann and paternal great-great-aunt and uncle Doyle and Arcile Payton. We are certain that they were all there welcoming Elli into their arms as she joined them in heaven.
We will be celebrating the life and journey of Elli with a visitation which will be held at Price Funeral Home in Maryville, from 6-8 pm, Friday, September 12, 2008. Elli will be laid to rest at a graveside service to be held in Treynor, IA, at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at 11 am, Saturday, September 13, 2008.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made in Memorial of Elli or to The Ronald McDonald House in memory of Elli.

Here Saturday For Henry Roush

Henry Clifford Roush, 79, died at 4 a.m Thursday April 13, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, where he had been a patient for 13 days, Mr. Roush suffered a stroke, at his home on March 31.

Mr. Roush was born December 14, 1887, near Siam, Taylor County, Iowa, and was the son of the late Charles Dodd and Margaret Jane Clayton Roush. He grew up in the Siam community and attended the Hardy rural schools.

He was married January 9, 1911 in Bedford, Taylor County, Iowa to Carrie Mabel Sheley, who survives. Following their marriage the couple starts housekeeping on a farm, west of Siam where they resided until 1916, when they moved to the Hopkins community.

For almost 50 years Mr. Roush operated farms in this community. In 1965, the couple sold their home and acreage west of Hopkins, and moved to a residence in town.

In addition to his wife of home, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Clifford Roush of Hopkins, two grandchildren, Wayne Roush, Liberty, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Brason ( Norma Faye), Seattle Washington, three sisters, Mrs. George Gray, Hopkins, Mrs. Harry Blessman, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Mrs. Grace Blessman, Clearfield, Iowa, two brothers, Lester Roush, Pickering, and Ernest Roush, Des Moines, and six greatgrandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Roush was preceded in death by a brother Theodore Roush, who died in early childhood.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Swanson Funeral Home, Rev. Gerald Sapplington, was the officiating minister.

Mrs. L. R. Wiley, was the pianist, and accompanied Mrs. Wayne White, she sang " Abide With Me," and "Near To The Heart Of God."

Miss Ruth Ann Roush and Mrs Homer Horning, Mrs. Willis Wurster, Mrs. Oren Perry and Mrs. Harley Sheley, were the flower ladies.

Pallbearers were, Homer Horning, Charles Roush, Alvin Gray, Kenneth Gray, Harley Sheley, and Lester Roush Jr. Burial was in the Hopkins Cemetery.

ENID, Okla. – Carmen Wayne Rivers, 54, Enid, formerly Atchison, Kan., died Feb. 15, 2005.

Mr. Rivers worked for Pillsbury Milling.

Surviving: wife, Linda; sons, Jeff, Jason and Jeremy; daughter, Jodi Wall; mother, Frances Cripe; sisters, Linda Grable, Patty Bomberger and Carol Wentz; brothers, Edwin and Robert; nine grandchildren.

Robinson, Charles L.

1917-2005

TROY, Kan. – Charles L. Robinson, 87, of Troy, Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at his home.

Charles was born March 7, 1917, in Bristol, Colo., to Phillip and Marguerite (Vagher) Robinson. He was raised in Colorado and worked as a carpenter, traveling to and working on several grain elevators. Charles and his family moved to Troy in 1967 from Cottonwood Falls, Kan.

Additional survivors: four sons, Chris, Cottonwood Falls; and Robert, Kenton and Phillip, all of Troy; daughter, Tina Robinson, Troy; two brothers, George, Wellington, Kan.; and Robert, Troy; two sisters, Louise Neill, Holly, Colo.; and Phyllis Robinson, Troy; 13 grandchildren; and a stepgrandson.

Service: Monday, Feb. 21, 2 p.m., at United Methodist Church, Troy. Burial: Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy, where there will be a full military committal service under the auspices of the American Legion Post No. 55. TROY, Kan. — Charles L. Robinson, 87, of Troy, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at his home.

Rouse, Blanche Madeline Rouse was born April 6, 1917 at Hastings, Iowa, to Dobson Amos and Lois Amanda (Monosmith) Wood. She passed away Thursday morning, October 6, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri. Blanche graduated Hastings High School in the class of 1936. She worked during World War II at the Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha as a Rosie the Riveter for the fuel tanks in the B17 bomber. She also decorated cakes in the Omaha area, was a Brownie Scout leader and seamstress. She was always a helping hand to those in need. Blanche was married to John “Jack” Rouse on September 14, 1946 at Omaha, Nebraska. The couple made their home throughout the United States with the last being in Clearmont, Missouri. Jack passed away February 15, 2001. Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons David and Robert, daughter-in-law Ruth Potter, brothers Cecil Wood, Homer Wood, Cashus Wood , and infant brother, sisters Frances Chapin and Geneva Allison. She is survived by her children: Douglas Potter, Westminster, CA, Patricia Talbot, Clearmont, MO, James Rouse, Longview, TX, Thomas Rouse and his wife Janet of Santa Teresa, NM, Barbara Root and her husband Galen of Clovis, NM; daughter-in-law Janet Rouse of Massachusetts; grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held October 10, 2005 at 10:30 with Pastor Scott Denham officiating at the Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel. Burial at the Clearmont Cemetery. Memorials were made to the Local Cancer Society and American Heart Association.

Rickard, Charles Edward - Amercian Falls, Idaho -- Charles Edward "Chully" Rickard, formerly of Pickering [Missouri], died Thursday [Dec 1982] of a heart atack.

Born Aug 25, 1911, he was the son of Maine and Maggie Tracy Rickard. He attended the Mowery grade school and was an all-star basketball player at Pickering High School. He married Mildred Hogue in 1933 and was a grain elevator manager for many years in Ririe, Idaho.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Sandra Durfee, Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Wayne Rickard, Pocatello, Idaho; three sisters, Helen, Margie and Maysel; and four grandchildren, Mrs Lane Ulmer, Maryville, is an aunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Sidney Dawn Durfee, in 1982.

Services will be Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in American Falls.

Mrs Sie Ralston Dies; Plan Rites at Ravenwood
 
Mrs Myrtle M. Ralston, 63 years of age, wife of Sie Ralston of Ravenwood, died at 9:30 o'clock Sunday evening at the Missouri Methodist hospital in St Joseph [Missouri] following an illness of one month.
 
She was married to Mr Ralston August 11, 1900, in Maitland, Mo., and had been a resident of Ravenwood the last 38 years.
 
Mrs Ralston was born June 25, 1883, at Onawa, Ia, the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Benjamin Van Horn.
 
She is survived by her husband and two sons, B.B. Ralston, Tampa, Fla, and H.B. Ralston, Ravenwood; five daughters, Mrs O.E. Ziegler, St Joseph; Mrs John From, Ravenwood; Mrs Clarence Young, San Diego, Calif; Mrs Owen Goss, Kansas City, Mo; and Mrs E.S. Roberts, Ravenwood; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
 
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church in Ravenwood pending arrival of the children.

Funeral services for Mrs Myrtle M. Ralston were held Thursday afternoon at the Ravenwood Methodist church. Mrs Ralston died Sunday in a St Joseph hospital. The services were conducted by John W. Ward, jr., pastor, and Elder J.W. Powell of Ravenwood.

[116] Rowe, Anna May -Anna May Rowe, daughter of Eldridge S. and Mary Ann Rowe, was born in Jackson township, Taylor county, Iowa, November 22, 1872 and died in Bedford, Thursday, February 13, 1938 [sic, 1958], at the age of 85 years, two months, 21 days.

She lived on the family farm in Jackson township until she became an invalid several years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Isaac and Eldridge; one sister, Mrs Minerva Risser. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

[118] Rowe, Isaac - Isaac Rowe, 71, died at the home of Mr and Mrs Roy Spurgeon, Saturday, March 23, 1935. The funeral services were held at the home of Mr and Mrs E.S. Rowe, Jr., Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev Clark M. Crowell. Burial was in the Luteston cemetery.

Isaac Rowe, son of E.S. Rowe, Sr and Mary A. Rowe, was born in Nodaway county, Mo., Nov. 27, 1863, and moved with his parents to Iowa when a small child. He resided on a farm in Jackson township until he was brought to the Spurgeon home in January 1934, to receive medical care.

Surviving relatives are one brother and one sister, E.S. Rowe, Jr of Sheridan, Mo., and Anna May Rowe of Clarinda. His parents and one sister, Mrs Minerva Risser, preceded him in death.

[119] Rowe, Mary Ann Dowis - Funeral services for Mrs Mary Ann Rowe, 89, who died at the home of her son Eldridge Rowe, Thursday, Jan 4, were held at the son's home Saturday morning, conducted by Rev Clark M. Crowell. Burial was in the Luteston cemetery.

Mrs Rowe, whose maiden name was Dowis, was born near Savannah, Mo, Feb 8, 1844. In early childrhood she moved to Taylor county, which place had been her home since that time.

She was married to Eldridge Smith Rowe, Dec 27, 1862. To them were born four children, Isaac, Minerva, Eldridge, and Anna May. Her husband died in May, 1913, and one daughter, Minerva Risser, Dec 20, 1928.

Surviving relatives are three children, eleven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Also one brother, Jasper Dowis of Blockton, and two sisters, Judy Tharp of Benton and Sirilda Gardner of Oakland, Calif.

[120] Eldridge S. Rowe - Eldridge S. Rowe was born September 18, 1840 in West Virginia. He moved with his parents to Missouri at the age of 12 years and has resided from that time in either Nodaway county, Mo., or Taylor county, Ia. He died at his home 7 miles northwest of Sheridan [Missouri] May 16, 1913, at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 8 days.

Mr Rowe was married to Mary Ann Dowis in 1862 who with her four children survive him. The children are: Isaac, Eldridge jr., Minerva Rissor and Anna May Rowe, all who live in this vicinity.

Mr Rowe has been a resident of Jackson township for more than half a century, and he had the respect and confidence of all who knew him.

[121] Risser, Ulysis Senator - Funeral services for Senator Risser, 81, were held at the Wetmore Funeral Home, Thursday afternoon, July 15, conducted by Rev U.E. Burroughs of Mount Ayr. Burial was in the Luteson [Luteston] cemetery near Sheridan, Missouri.

Ulysis Senator Risser, son of J.J. and Jane Ann Risser, was born December 17, 1866 at Florence, Colorado, and died at the St Francis Hospital in Maryville [Missouri], Tuesday, July 13 after a long illness, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 25 days.

Mr Risser moved with his parents to Nodaway county, Missouri, when 15 years of age. In 1902 he moved with his own family to the Risser farm in Jackson township, Taylor county, Iowa, where he resided until his death.

He was married to Minerva Rowe on February 24, 1891. To them five children were born: Mrs Hattie Kemery, who preceded her father in death; Mrs Anna Cubbage, Abbott Risser and Lelan Risser, all of Bedford. Also one son, who passed away in infancy. Mrs Risser died Dec 20, 1928.

Surviving with his children are two sisters and one brother: Mrs Edith Rowe and Otto Risser of Sheridan, Missouri, and Mrs Lula Brown of Thermopolis, Wyoming; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

D. Wendell Rasco, 90, Barnard, died Sunday, November 30, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital and Health Services, Maryville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 2, at the Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville.
Final resting place is in the Barnard Cemetery.

Frank Wesley Rash, 94, Maryville, died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Golden LivingCenter, Maryville.

Blanche Madeline Rouse, 88, Clearmont, died Thursday, October 6, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 10, 2005, at Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel, Clarinda, with burial at Clearmont Cemetery, Clearmont.

Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

Rhoades, Ronald Gene Rhoades, 64, of Maryville, died on Friday, March 27, 2009, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Missouri.
Born October 20, 1944, in Bigelow, he was the son of Everett and Kathleen (McKenzie) Rhoades. He was a 1962 graduate of the Mound City High School, Mound City, and a 1967 graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a degree in farm management.
Ron married his wife of forty years, Della Jane Scarbrough, on November 24, 1968, in Fortescue.
A farmer and construction engineer, Ron retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation in December of 2008.
He was a member of the Fortescue Methodist Church, a Benefactor Member of the National Rifle Association and member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association. Ron shot more than 10,000 registered targets during the year he battled cancer.
Surviving are his parents, Jack and Kathleen Rhoades, Craig; wife, Della, of the home; daughters, Stephanie Dolan and her husband, Tim, Ashland, NE, and Rebecca (Becki) Rhoades, Topeka, KS, and granddaughter Katie Dolan.
Ron loved his four girls, farming, trapshooting and enjoying life. No one loved a good story more than Ron.
The family received friends Monday, March 30, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 31, 2009, also at Price Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City, with military services provided by the Story-Hardin American Legion Post #164, Craig.

Ruggles, Velda - Velda Mitchell Ruggles, 73, Flemingsburg, Ky., was born Oct 1, 1922, in Corning [Iowa] to James A. and Letha Bailiff Mitchell. She died Dec 14, 1995, at her home.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Tollesboro United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Charline Ruggles Petticrew May 15, 1993; and a brother-in-law John Campbell April 20, 1994.

She is survived by her husband Burton Ruggles; a son William James Ruggles of Flemingsburg; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister Mrs John (Velma) Campbell of Prescott.

Services were held Dec 17 at Barbour Funeral Home with Rev Donald Tipton officiating. Burial was in Canoar Cemetery in Tollesboro.
