Services for Zella [Hamilton] Beery, 89, Clearmont, were held Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1994, at Clearmont Christian Church, Clearmont, with Alvin Reed officiating.

Ms. Beery died Oct. 2, 1994, in Maryville.

Pallbearers were Rod Poole, Tracy Koger, Jake Humphrey, Charles Cruth, Billy Humphrey and Kelly Glassgow. Honorary Pallbearer was Wayne Cruth.

Donna Wilmes was the organist and Karen Koger was the vocalist.

Sandra Hayes was at the guest register.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Clearmont.

Services were under the direction of Price Funeral Home, Inc., Maryville.

Mrs. Carla Hickman’s father dies

Leslie Carl Boyd, 47, of O’Fallon, Neb., father of Mrs. Carla Hickman, Maryville, died Sunday morning at Furman DeLoge Hospital, St. Louis.

He is survived by his wife, Jettye, of the home, two sons, on other daughter and three grandchildren, including Heather and Laura Hickman, Maryville.

Services will be held at 11 a. m. Wednesday in O’Fallon. Burial will be in St. James, Mo.

Mrs. Sinkbernger Dies

Resident of Graham Dies at Age of 82 Years

Mrs. Rosine [Wertz] Sinkbernger [Finkbeiner], 82 years of age and a long time resident of Graham, died at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon [December 22, 1940] at her home in Graham. She had been in good health.

She was born [November 27, 1858] in Wertenburg [Wurttemberg], Germany, and came with her husband [Johannes] to this country when she was 26 years of age. She and her husband settled northeast of Graham and after living there five years returned to Germany, where they spent a year. They then came back to Graham and bought a farm south of town and lived there until her husband died in 1913. Since that time Mrs. Sinkbernger [Finkbeiner] has been living in Graham.

She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Steven Duey [Charlotte] of Lenox, Ia., Mrs. Anna Yount of Mullen, Neb., Mrs. Rose Dodd, Yuma, Colo., Mrs. Louise Steel, Onaway, Mich., and Mrs. Lena Wright, Akron, Colo., and Mrs. Sotha [Sophia] Sticken of the home; two sons, Fred Sinkbernger [Finkbeiner] of Yuma, Colo., and Christian Sinkbernger [Finkbeiner] Ingomar, Mont.; twenty-six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and one nephew, Reinhold Sinkbernger [Finkbeiner] of St. Joseph.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Finkbeiner Funeral to Be Held Christmas Morning

Funeral services for Mrs. Rosine [Wertz] Finkbeiner who died Sunday afternoon at her home in Graham will be held at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning at the Presbyterian Church in Graham, with Dr. W. S. Insley officiating. Burial will be in the Graham cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Gever, Clyde Goodpasture, Harlan Swank, James Decker, Orville Lorrance and Lee Wright.

Mrs. Finkbeiner is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Steven Duey [Charlotte] of Lenox, Ia., Mrs. Anna Yount of Mullen, Neb., Mrs. Rose Dodd of Yuma, Colo., Mrs. Louise Steele of Onaway, Mich., Mrs. Lena Wright of Akron, Colo., and Mrs. Sophia Sticken of the home; two sons, Fred Finkbeiner of Yuma, Colo. and Christian Finkbeiner of Ingomar, Mont.; twenty-six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and one nephew, Reinhold Finkbeiner, of St. Joseph.

Mrs. Henrietta Nell Martin, 45, McFall, formerly of Stanberry, died Sunday at a hospital in Albany.

She was born March 5, 1933, in Stanberry, and was the daughter of Myles and Virta Motzkus Kier, Stanberry. On Dec. 4, 1953, in Olathe, Kan., she married Elba D. Martin, who survives.

Mrs. Martin was a 1951 graduate of the Stanberry High School and a member of the Stanberry United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Stanberry. The Rev. George Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry.

Visitation will be held from 7-8 p. m. today at the funeral home.

Services for H. [enry] Dale Neese, 72, Albany, Texas, were held Friday, Aug. 25, 1994, in the Albany, Texas, First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Clevenger and the Rev. Tom Anthony, officiating.

Mr. Neese died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1994, in an Abilene, Texas, hospital.

Born in Missouri, March 13,1922, he owned and operated several beauty and barber shops and ranched in northern Nebraska, then moving to Albany.

He married [Sarah] Louise Honaker Neese, who preceded him in death. He married Alma E. Godfrey, in 1982, in Albany, and together they owned Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.

Mr. Neese served with the U. S. Army's 34th Infantry in the Pacific during World War II. He was a charter member of The Blue Sky Shrine, York Rite Ivey Leaf Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star; a life member of the VFW; a member of the American Legion; and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Alma Neese of Albany; one son, Lanny D. Neese of Glendale, Ariz.; two daughters, Sharon Witt of Security, Colo., and Jeanie Sedivy of Alliance, Neb.; one stepdaughter, Paula Kay Matson of Arlington, Texas; two stepsons, James E. Godfrey of Albany, and William Lynn Godfrey of Cleburne, Texas; two sisters, Helen Adams of Omaha, Neb., and Myrtle Wills of Sherman Oaks, Calif; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Burial was in Albany Cemetery, Albany, Texas.  

Services were under the direction of Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.

[Weatha] Marie C. [arr] Allee Roberts, 89, Sheridan, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 1994, in Sheridan.

Born April 8, 1905, in Isadora, to DeRoy S. [choonover] and [Weatha] Rosetta Wake Carr, she had been an elementary school teacher for 26 years, before retiring.

She married Guy [Edmund] Allee in 1925, who preceded her in death. She married Edwin Roberts in 1977, who also preceded her in death.

Ms. Allee Roberts had been a resident of the Sheridan area for most of his life. She was a 1923 graduate of Sheridan High School and a 1962 graduate of Northwest Missouri State College. She was a member of the Sheridan Christian Church and Christian Women's Fellowship; the American Legion Auxiliary of Sheridan; the Federated Club of Sheridan; Order of Eastern Star of Sheridan; the Sheridan Plus Club; the 20th Century Club of Sheridan; and the Nodaway Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, JoAnne [Marie] Allee Davis; two brothers, Glenn Carr and Doy Carr; three sisters, Esther Rowe, Della Adle and Ruby Gilland; two grandsons, Allen Davis and Cody Rush; one granddaughter, Brandi Rush; one great-grandson, Travis Allee; and two sons-in-law, J. D. Asher and Ted Rush.

Survivors include two sons, Guy L. Allee of Sheridan, and Doy Allee of Sheridan; three daughters, Maryon Asher of Sheridan, Martha Rush of Sheridan, and Beverly Mayes of Maryville; one stepson, Edwin Roberts of Harrisonville; one stepdaughter, Anna Smith of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Edna Burke of Castro Valley, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and three step great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., today, at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, Grant City.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Sheridan Christian Church, with the Rev. Scott Driscoll officiating.

Burial will be in Isadora Cemetery, Isadora.

Arrangements are under the direction of Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, Grant City.

Richard Sawyers

Richard Lynn "Tom" Sawyers, 55, St. Joseph, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 1994, at a St. Joseph hospital.

Born in Maryville, to Henry Lawson and Wilma Cook Sawyers, he had retired in 1994 as senior highway designer with the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department.

Mr. Sawyers was a 1957 graduate of Central High School and the former St. Joseph Junior College in 1959. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri - Columbia in 1962.  

He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a deacon; was involved in the session; taught Sunday school class; and was involved in church activities for over 40 years. He had been a Missouri State High School Registered Official since 1963; a member of the Midland Empire Basketball Officials Association; the St. Joseph Softball Umpires and Scorers Association; and was inducted into the St. Joseph Softball Association Hall of Fame in 1994; a member of the Missouri Highway and Transportation Employees Association; and had served as a board member of Creative Arts Productions.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, of the home; relatives and friends; and others who have known him.

Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today and Thursday, at Meierhoffer-Fleeman Funeral Home, St. Joseph. The body will be moved to Westminster Presbyterian Church, one hour prior to the service.

Services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow the service.

Graveside Services and burial will be held at 10a.m., Saturday, at Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.

Memorials may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Capital Improvement Fund, Missouri Highway and Transportation Department Benefit Fund, the Robert Rocha Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Bishop LeBlond High School, or a charity of the donor's choice.

John Stafford

John Ivan Stafford, 77, Fontana, Calif., died Sunday, Oct. 2, 1994 at St. Bernadine' s Medical Center, Fontana.

Born in Burlington Junction, he was an independent automotive businessman in Lynwood, Calif., for 16 years.

Mr. Stafford retired CWO-4 with 30 years of service in the United States Army, serving under George S. Patton during World War II. He was a 42-year member of the American Legion Post 335 in South Gate, Calif., and past post commander.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth J. Stafford; four sons, John F. Stafford of Pensacola, Fla., William F. Stafford of Whittier, Calif., David W. Stafford of Whittier, Calif., and Daniel S. Gray of Tehachapi, Calif.; one daughter, Nancy A. Crumpler of Lakewood, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., today, at McNearney Family Mortuary, Rialto, Calif.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at McNearney Family Mortuary, Rialto, Calif.

Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park Cemetery, Bloomington, Calif.

Services for Mrs. Gladys M. [arie Alloway] Treese, 73, St. Joseph, formerly of Nodaway County, who died Friday, were held Monday afternoon at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville. The Rev. Gary Williams officiated. Burial was in the Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.

Mrs. Jerry Dew, organist, accompanied Vilas Young, who sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “Should You Go First.”

Pallbearers were Rocky Treese, Charles Pritchett, Jr., Ricky Treese, Terry Burton, Glen W. Allen and Joe Taylor.

Doris Lee Vaughn, 64, Maryville, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 1994, at the family home in Maryville.

Born Jan. 13, 1930, in Isadora, to Willie C. and Caroline Ray Walker, she was a homemaker.

She married Joseph Vaughn, Oct. 20, 1951, in Maryville.

Ms. Vaughn was a 1949 graduate of Horace Mann High School, Maryville. She was a charter member of Countryside Christian Church, Maryville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Wilma McClure; and three brothers, Arthur Walker, Duane Walker and Joe Walker.

Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Ted Vaughn of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Terry Vaughn of Maryville; two brothers, L. B. Walker of Ravenwood, and Don Walker of Ravenwood; seven sisters, Sylvia Merekling of Raymondville, Rosella Lewis of Ravenwood, Virginia Eckery of Ravenwood, Jean Brown of Ravenwood, Jenetta Parker of Glenwood, Iowa, Pauline Gross of Maryville, and Darlene Holaday of Maryville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is currently under way at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at Countryside Christian Church, Maryville, with   Delbert Biehle and Merrill Ferguson officiating.

Mrs. Vaughn's casket will lie-in-state at the church for one hour before services.

Burial will be in Isadora Cemetery, Isadora.

Memorials may be made to Countryside Christian Church, Maryville.

Mr. Worley died Oct. 9, 1994, in Lee's Summit.

Burial was in Home Cemetery, Tarkio.

John O. Worley, 56, Lee's Summit, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 1994, at Lee's Summit Hospital, Lee's Summit.

Born Sept. 15, 1938, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Claude Aldin and Ruth Geraldine Muchler Worley, he was a mechanic and member of the Teamsters Union.

He married Nancy Kay Kidd, Dec. 10,1959, in Sparks, Nev.

Mr. Worley served in the U.S. Marine Corp.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, John Carl Worley of Parkville; two daughters, Pamela Baranski of California, and Deborah Sue Worley of Kansas City; two brothers, George Worley of Atchison, Kan., and Floyd Worley of San Jose, Calif.; three sisters, Maxine Denton of Darlington; Mabel Baker of Grand Island, Neb., and Geraldine Odom of Iowa; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., today, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, with Dr. Dan Evans officiating.

Burial will be in Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
