Bram, Philip Edward, 69, Maryville, died Saturday, January 7, 2006, at Beverly Healthcare, Maryville. He suffered a stroke in 1997 and encountered further complications through the years.

Mr. Bram was born February 20, 1936, in Denver. His parents were Kermit Andrew and Mary Deane Eaton Bram. He married Norma Long in 1958. He married Lynn West in 1997.

He was a graduate of Grant City High School, Grant City. Mr. Bram served in the Air Guard from 1961 to 1967. He received a degree in biology and chemistry in 1960 from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. He then graduated from Dallas Mortuary School, Dallas, TX, in 1961.

Mr. Bram came from a family of morticians. His great-grandfather, grandfather, uncle and cousins owned and operated funeral homes. He was in the funeral business for 38 years, starting out at the Bram Funeral home in Macon. He later moved to Maryville, where he worked for Price Funeral Home and eventually became part owner and president of the company. In 1999, he sold his interest in the business and retired, due to his disabilities caused by the stroke.

Phil was active in community organizations serving as president of the Maryville Jaycees, president of the Maryville Rotary Club, served on the Maryville Park Board and the Maryville Country Club Board. He served one term as president of the Northwest Missouri District Funeral Directors. He continued to belong to the Missouri Funeral Directors Association and was still a fully licensed embalmer and funeral director.

Mr. Bram was an avid hunter. He hunted quail, pheasant, ducks, turkey and deer. He was quite talented at telling hunting and dog stories. He had a way of making them very entertaining and comical. He was a past member of Quail Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited. Mr. Bram was also a devout racing fan. He loved NASCAR and attended the races at Kansas Speedway, where he had season tickets.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Maryville. He knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He also was a member of Nodaway Lodge No. 470 AF and AM and Maryville Elks Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Lynn, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Dan Lang, Overland Park, KS; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kim Bram, Barnard; step-son, Vince Twaddle, Clarinda, IA; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Lea and Ron Marriott, Clearmont; sister, Mary Lynn McClellan, Kansas City; five grandchildren, Adrian Bram, Jessica Bram, Jackson Bram, Hannah Lang, Teddy Lang; and one step-grandchild, Cole Phillips. He is also survived by two aunts, Katherine Ridge, Grant City and Isabelle Bram, Maysville. He is also survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Norma L. Clark, Maryville.

Phil's body was cared for by his cousin and wife, Pete and Jane Bram of Bram Funeral Home, Maysville. Services were Monday, January 9, 2006, at the First Baptist Church, Maryville, with the Rev. Joe Munshaw and Rev. Rick Haggett officiating. Burial was in Prairie Chapel, Grant City. Memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church Building Fund, the First Baptist Church Building Fund, or to the Maryville Country Club Tree Fund.

Brooke, Ruth Irene Ripley, 90, died Thursday, December 29, 2005, in a Polk City, IA nursing home. Graveside service and burial were held Sunday, December 31, at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph.

Brown, Everett Winfield, 93, Maryville, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City. Memorial services were held Tuesday, July 19, at the First Christian Church, Maryville. Military honors concluded the memorial service at the church. There was a "celebration" of his life at the Maryville Country Club following the memorial service. Cordello, Verdell Elaine, 84, formerly of Ravenwood, died Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Pineview Manor Convalescent Center, Stanberry, where she had been a resident since 2005. Dalbey, Evaline, 93, Burlington Jct., died Sunday, November 27, 2005, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville. She was born September 8, 1912, near Quitman, to Alton and Gladys Hackett Logan. She graduated form Burlington Jct. High School, in 1931. On October 9, 1935, she married Fletcher S. Dalbey Jr., in Maryville. They lived on a farm southwest of Burlington Jct. until his death, in 1974. She moved to Burlington Jct. in 1975. Mrs. Dalbey was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Burlington Jct., the Christian Women's Fellowship, the Bridge Club, the Star Club and T and C Extension Club. She served as a 4-H leader for many years.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Geraldine Otte; brother, Willis Logan.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris Hagey and husband, Bobby, Burlington Jct.; three grandchildren, Ronnie and Angela Hagey, Curt Hagey, all of Burlington Jct. and Joy and Kim Jones, Elmo; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Wednesday, November 30, at the First Christian Church, Burlington Jct. Burial was in the Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Jct.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.

Davidson, Flavia Marie, 98, Columbia, formerly of Bedford, IA, died Sunday, July 17, 2005.Services were held Saturday, July 23, at Ritchie Funeral Home, Bedford, with Pastor Ted DeHass officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Bedford. Arrangements were under the direction of Ritchie Funeral Home.

DeWar, Rueben Dewitt, Jr., 85, Maryville, died Sunday, December 4, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare, Maryville. He was born October 11, 1920, in Kidder, to Dewitt and Lilley May Borden DeWar. He lived in St. Joseph most of his life and moved to Maryville, in 1999.

On April 20, 1946, he married Thelma Jean Antrim. She preceded him in death, July 1, 1993.

Mr. DeWar was employed as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local #110.

He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Wampler; brother, Harlan DeWar.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Green, Albany and Pam Euler, Maryville; three sons, Jerry DeWar, Larry DeWar and Terry DeWar, all of St. Joseph; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and interment were held Wednesday, December 7, at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Missouri Chapter, Tenth and Faraon, St. Joseph, MO 64501.

Ferguson, Myrtle Loretta Monia, 88, Savannah, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005 in Carriage Square Health Care Center, St. Joseph. Finch, Vianna, 65, Sheridan, died Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. She was born December 6, 1939, in Page County, IA, to Oscar and Ethel Robberts Herzberg.

On June 6, 1957, she married Robert Finch, in Clarinda, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, LaVonne Herzberg, Virgil Herzberg and Donnie Herzberg. Survivors include her husband, Robert Finch, Sheridan; two sons, Duane Finch and wife, Jana, Rogersville and Brian Finch and wife, Jenny, Maryville; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Daniel, Jacob and Jessica; two brothers, Darwin Herzberg, Clarinda and Dale Herzberg, Waterloo, IA; one sister, Joyce Meyers, Villisca, IA.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 25, at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, Grant City. Memorials may be made to Sheridan Cemetery, in care of Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home.

Fincham, Genevieve N., 84, Graham, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the Autumn House, Maryville. Memorial services will be held at 4 pm, Saturday, June 18, at Meierhoffer Funeral Home and Crematory.
