The Burlington Junction Post, Thursday, December 24, 1936 JOHN R. ARNOLD, FORMER RESIDENT, DIED SUNDAY, DEATH CAME TO HIM SUDDENLY AS THE RESULT OF A HEART ATTACK. John. R. Arnold, past 76 years of age, and for many years, a resident of this vicinity, died about 5 o'clock last Sunday afternoon at his home in St. Joseph, Death was a result of heart attack. Mr. Arnold's death came quite unexpectedly to members of his family, although he had been i decliing health for several years. he had gone to do the eening's chores for a neighbor and was stricken with the heart attack while so engaged. He was taken home where death followed in a very short time. He was born in Galesburg Ill, on May 29, 1860. AT the age of 21 years he moved with his paretns to Nodaway county, and made his home in Burlington Junction vicinity until about eight years ago, when he moved to St. Joseph, remaining there until his death Sunday. On January 1st, 1882, he was married to Miss Theora J. McAtee, and to this union were born two sons, Charles Elmer, Rosendale;p and Delath H. of Atchison, Kans.; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11:30 o'clock yesterday morning a the Heaton-Begole-Bowman funeral home in St. Joseph. The body was brought to Burlington Junction for burial. The Burlington Junction Post, Thursday, June 4, 1936 DEATH OF MRS. ED GRIFFEY OCCURS MONDAY MORNING Mrs. Martha E. Griffey, aged 67 years, and the wife of Ed Griffey of northeast of Burlington Junction died early Monday morning at her home, death being a result of a heart attack. Mrs. Griffey was born in Iowa, March 15, 1869, but moved with her parents to Missouri when a child, and had made her home in this vicinity during the remaining years of her life. She was married to Ed Griffey in the fall of 1888. She was a member of the Clearmont Christian church and belonged to the Burlington Junction Royal Neighbors. Surviving are the husband, Ed Griffey, a son, Everett Griffey of Northeast of Burlington Junction, Jas Nicholas, Norfolk Nebr, and Thos. Nicholas, Burlington Junction; and three sisters, Mrs. Jay Meek, Burlington Junction; Mrs. Frank Hackett, Burlington Junction and Mrs. Zepha Johnson, Morrison Colo. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from the Clearmont Christian church, and burial was in the Clearmont Cemetery.
