I have an interest in the Gentrys; Ellis';and the Brittains in Nodaway early history They came from the Carolina supposedly together and should be descendents of Allen Gentry and Sarah (Sally) Brittain.
Also on the other side of my line I have a Heddrick connection moving from the Carolinas to Illinois about 1835. A Thomas Hampton Davis Married Nancy Evoline Heddrick. Some of the Heddricks moved to Missouri supposedly. The original Mr.Heddrick is said to have lived to be 103.
Does any of this fit any of your names?
regards and thank you for any feedback.

| From Pat: These people have written about
burials in the Cain Cemetery. I have a copy of the Cain cemetery that I
did and one that the county group did later, both of us list only the
one tombstone in Cain cemetery for Cordill. James D. son of J. & V.
Cordill, died Jan 18, 1868 11 months and 10days. Isom Cordill and a
couple of his daughters are on the county list as buried without
tombstones. Can anyone produce obits or any evidence about whether
these people are buried in the Cain Cemetery?? Pat
Regarding the Cain Cemetery, I haven't tried finding it yet but was told that it is in someone's field! There should be quite a number of the "Cordill Clan" buried in that cemetery such as:
1. James Cordill, son of Wm. (brother to Isom & John) Jul 1830-1 Dec 1886
2. Elizabeth Cordill Hand, daughter of Wm. Cordill Mar 1827-6 Jan 1909
3. Nancy Ann Cordill Cordill, daughter of Wm. Cordill 30 Mar 1832-19 Aug 1910
4. Rufus Morgan Cordill 16 Feb 1823-9 Aug 1911
5. Melvina Hand Malone, daughter of Eliz. Cordill Hand 1855-8 Mar 1885
6. Manerva Hand Shell, daughter of Eliz. Cordill Hand 1863-May 1888
7. William Cordill, brother to Isom and John
8. Isom Cordill
And there are probably more, but don't know about them!! I, too, was hoping to find headstones of these people.
Must close for now.

My name is Margaret Greer and I live near Liverpool in England.
My great grandmother's brother Joseph Close emigrated to US in 1870 and settled in Dale, Atchison after his marriage in 1876. He returned to England after the death of his wife Hannah Winter Close in 1910 and is buried in Westmorland, England
He raised his family of 6 children in Dale and it appears that some of his children and grandchildren remained in Atchison and surrounding counties until they died.
I have letters describing their day to day lives between 1910 and 1914 in Dale and Skidmore, Nodaway Co.
I'm very keen to find Joseph's descendants in US.
Someone on the Rootsweb MOATCHISON mailing list sent me the following extracts from the 'Gone but not forgotten' book and I'm wondering if any of your volunteers has access to obituary notices for the later deaths * which could lead me to their living families

| I am looking for Smiths
from New York, my Nodaway ancestors are Emory Smith and son
Fremont found in the 1870 census and the information in that census is
all I have to work with....so I'm hoping to find a clue somewhere in
the neighborhood. (Fremont Smith married Eve Ann Sharp on Dec 6
in 1882 at Quitman Missouri...she was the daughter of Daniel
Sharp born in 1825 in Orange Co North Carolina, he is found in the 1860
census of Nodaway. Eve Ann's brother Monroe married Fremont's sister
Delphena) I've had good luck researching Sharps but my Smiths are a
rock solid brick wall. Your efforts on my behalf are sincerely
appreciated, Leah Tourond : firstname.lastname@example.org
This is regarding the "Nodaway County Missouri Marriages (incomplete)"
information I found at <.rootsweb.com/~monodawa/marriages/> in August 2004.
One of the listed marriages is Thomas Bohannan & Gracy Wood,09 May
Based on notes I have from conversations and correspondence among Bohannon
relatives (including Thomas' granddaughter) in 1923-32, and what I have found
in recent searches of Missouri census records, it appears that Thomas actually
married Gracy Ann Good on the date you give (or one day later).
Since I am working from indirect evidence and 2nd-hand information rather than
primary records, I could be wrong.Below are 6 citations that together support
the idea that Gracie's maiden name was "Good."
letter: Grace Bohannan Durrett to [Margaret (Jones) Conley?] [Source#8],
approx. 1932 with [later?] notes by Margaret
A pencil note on the letter shows "Gracy Ann Good" as (1) the wife of Thomas
Bohannan; and (2) the mother of William Tilman Bohannan.
[Grace Bohannan Durrett was a/the child of William Tilman Bohannan. I have
only the part of Grace's letter that Margaret kept so I don't know for
sure that the letter was addressed to Margaret.]
letter: Mrs. Edward D. [Margaret Jones] Conley to Miss Agnes Lee Smith
[Source#7], 22 August 1932 with [later?] notes by Margaret.
The letter describes "Gracy Ann" as (1) the wife of Thomas B; and (2) the
mother of William Tillman Bohannan.
[I have Margaret's carbon copy of the letter.]
