He married Melody Ann Shockey on October 24, 1992 , at the Immanuel Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas. An avid golfer, Darren was a member of the Liberty Hills Country Club, Liberty, Missouri and a past member of Staley Farms Golf Course, Kansas City, Missouri. Darren was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Lawrence and Gertrude Derks; maternal grandfather Elby Surplus; father-in-law William (Bill) Shockey. Stella Marie Farnan, 89, Maryville, Missouri, died Friday, August 6, 2010, at Memorial Hospital, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

 Stella was born August 27, 1920, in Conception Junction, Missouri to John Emmett and Margaret Gertrude Cocoran Brady. She married George Edward Farnan on November 18, 1941, in Conception, Missouri.

 A graduate of Conception High School, she was a homemaker.

 Surviving are children, Jim (Jean) Farnan, Barnard, Missouri, Patricia (Patrick) Cleary, Chesterfield, Missouri, Rita Marie (Steve) Ballard, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Steve (Julie) Farnan, Guilford, Missouri, and Marcia (Richard) Pierson, Mason City, Iowa. She was blessed with fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, her pride and joy. She is also survived by three sisters, Eileen Schieber, Stanberry, Missouri, Emerita Farnan, Weston, Missouri, and Rosalee Wilmes, Maryville, Missouri and one brother-in-law, Raymond Schuster, also of Maryville and many nieces and nephews.

 Stella was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community following her membership at Immaculate Conception in Conception, Missouri. Stella Marie enjoyed walking, gardening, sewing, cooking, and baking. Each child and grandchild cherishes the quilts she made.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, George Farnan (April 16, 1972), parents, two sisters Gertrude Schuster and Sr. Margaret Brady CPPS, and three brothers Robert, Donald and Edmund Brady.

She was a high school graduate and was a manager at the Fox Alley Apartments for five years.

Colene Ann Meyer, 73, Maryville, Missouri, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Colene was born June 26, 1937, in Maryville to Robert Wendell and Jessie Griffey Hughes.

A 1955 graduate Maryville High School, she also received a 1959 BS in Education degree in Home Economics from Northwest Missouri State College.

She married Lawrence "Tiny" Meyer April 19, 1980, in Maryville.

Colene was a member of the St Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church, Kappa Omicron Phi, Delta Zeta Sorority and the Knabb Club.

Preceding in death were her parents and first husband Joe Scott (March 1, 2001).

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; son, J.B. Smith, Loraine Jewell - Loraine Jewell Smith, 67, Maryville, Missouri, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Parkdale Manor, Maryville. Loraine was born April 11, 1943, in Fillmore, Missouri to Loren J. and Esta Gertrude (Hagloch) Wilson.  They preceded her in death. She was a 1961 graduate of Maryville High School.  On July 27, 1974 Loraine married Donald Paul Smith in Maryville. She was a housekeeper at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville for 26 years and then was a baker for ARA Food Services at Northwest Missouri State University for 13 years and was a member of the Clearmont, Missouri Baptist Church. Loraine is survived by her husband Donald Paul Smith, Maryville; step-son Donald Paul Smith Jr., Olathe, Kansas; 2 step-daughters: Deana Smith, Raleigh, North Carolina and Donna Jean Merritt, Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter Samantha Smith, Olathe, Kansas; sister Sarah Henry, Maitland, Missouri and several nieces and nephews. Robert Dean Smith, 77, Ravenwood, Missouri, died Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Golden Living Center, Maryville, Missouri.

Robert was born in Leon, Iowa December 27, 1932, to James Leslie and Gladys Leone Myers Smith.

He married his first wife, Yvonne Thrane in January of 1953. They were later divorced. He later married Lois Ethel Allen Archer December 24, 1969, in Maryville.

He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Korea.

Robert was a member of the Tri-C American Legion Post #464, Conception Jct., Missouri.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Lois (May 18, 1998); two brothers: Raymond and James Smith and sister Frances Carson.

Jack L Swinford Sr. 76, Maryville, Missouri died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at his home.

 He was born October 9, 1933 in Maryville, Missouri, the son of Ernest and Martha (Wilson) Swinford. Jack graduated from Maryville High School and joined the US Air Force on February 11, 1953.   He married Eldora Mae Weakley, April 2, 1955 in Seguine, Texas.      

 Jack was an Assistant Food Director at Northwest Missouri State University and later a  Shift Supervisor at Uniroyal, Maryville. He was a member of the Xenia Masonic Lodge #50 AF & AM, Hopkins.

 He was preceded in death by his wife: Eldora Swinford (February 29, 2000); a son: Kenton Paul Swinford (April 3, 1963); his parents; a brother, Kenneth Swinford and sisters: Doris Wiley (March 7, 2010) Margaret Woods, Mary Keith and Barbara Jean Howery.

 Survivors include his children: Randy (Amanda) Swinford, Mark (Twila) Swinford, Jack L. (Kimberly) Swinford Jr. and Karen (Ron) Leader, all of Maryville and Robert (Terri) Swinford, Greenwood, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Merle Alfred Walker, 96, Barnard, Missouri died July 29, 2010, at Village Care Center, Maryville, Missouri.

Merle was born March 17, 1914 in rural Maryville, the son of Wilson Douglas “Doug” and Effie May (Neely) Walker. He attended Maple Grove School in rural Barnard. Merle married Dorothy McKnight February 18, 1936 in Savannah, Missouri. She preceded Merle in death in 1971. He married Iota Hughes December 26, 1963 in St Joseph, Missouri. Iota died in 1964 and he then married Dorothy Deffenbaugh Bodle November 17, 1967 in Clearmont, Missouri. Dorothy also preceded Merle in death in 1990.

A farmer and stockman, Merle joined the Bethany Rural Christian Church at a young age and later became a member of the Barnard Christian Church, where he served as an Elder. He participated in several community organizations and was associated with the Barnard Saddle Club many years.

In addition to his wives, Merle was preceded in death by his parents; step-son: Kenneth Hughes and brothers: Roy, John and Orla Walker;

Survivors include his children: Dr. Leon Walker, Mt. Blanchard, Ohio; Merlene Walker, Overland Park, Kansas and Barry Walker, Barnard, Missouri; step-daughters: Barbara Jean Allen, Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin and Linda Hughes, Savannah, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister: Evanell Whitworth, Winterset, Iowa; one nephew and three nieces.

Francis Welch, 85, De Soto, Iowa, formerly of Parnell, Missouri, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the V.A. Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa.

Francis was born September 19, 1924, in Parnell, Missouri to Frank I. and Christie B. Waldeier Welch.

A graduate of Parnell High School, he was a farmer. Francis served in the army during both World War II and the Korean War.

He married Helen Echterling February 1, 1947, in Stanberry, Missouri. They later divorced.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, West Des Moines, IA and a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Curry-Richardson-Sparks-Waldeier American Legion Post #528 in Parnell.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers: Victor Welch, Bobby Welch, Sylvester Welch and sister Rose Mary Welch.

A 1971 graduate of Nodaway-Holt High School, he was a member of the Graham United Methodist Church.

A farmer, Duane married Joyce Schmitt September 23, 1977, in Maryville.

Preceding him in death were his father Kenneth Helzer and father-in-law Afton Schmitt.

Barbara had worked for many years for NOCOMO Industries in Maryville.

She was preceded in death by her father Milo Vinzant (November 23, 2004); brother Billy Joe Vinzant (September 12, 1998), and her grandparents.

Alice Elizabeth (McGuire) Baumli, 98, of Maryville, Missouri, died Monday, August 9, 2010, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

 Alice was born September 4, 1911, in Arkoe, Missouri the daughter of George Stephen and Mozetta Elizabeth (Butler) McGuire. A graduate of Brewster High School, Brewster, Kansas,

she married Charles William Baumli on September 3, 1938 in Conception, Missouri.      

 At the time of her death, Alice was the oldest member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community, Maryville, and was a member of St Gregory’s Guild. She was a past President and member of Soroptimist International and a former member of the Maryville Women’s Bowling Association.

 A Homemaker, Alice and her husband, Charles, were previous owners and operators of the Lunch Box and 71 Café in Maryville for several years.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Baumli on September 28, 1981; her parents, a brother: George McGuire and sisters: Mildred Wendle and Margaret McBride.

 Surviving are her son: Gary (Jenny) Baumli, Maryville and daughter: Connie Baumli, Merriam, Kansas; three grandchildren: Michelle Jones, Maryville; Robert (Teresa) Baumli, Kansas City, Kansas and Cherri (Donald) Taylor, Lenexa, Kansas, eight great-grandchildren: Erin Jones, Brittany, Jessica and Christopher Baumli and Stephanie, Laura, Emily and Madalyn Taylor, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Doc was born on December 16, 1932 in Elmo, and except for his education and Marine Corps years was a lifelong resident of the area. He was baptized and was a lifelong member of the Elmo United Methodist Church.

His parents were Fred and Geralding James Campbell, they preceded him in death. He married Frances Hull on August 10, 1952, in Elmo. She passed away in 2008.

Doc was a graduate of the Elmo High School in 1950,then graduated from Northwest Missouri Teacher College, Maryville, and later graduated from the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine in 1960.

Doc and Frances operated a large veterinarian practice in Elmo for more than 40 years.

Doc proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal,National Defense Ribbon and received a Purple Heart Medal for injuries sustained during enemy actions on September 16, 1951.

His memberships included the Bradley-Carver American Legion Post 492, Elmo. The 40+8, and the Elmo Community Betterment.

Survivors include three daughters, Anita (Ed) McCumber, Ashland, NE, Teresa (Donald) Fast, Burlington Junction, MO, and Linda (Steve) Kirsch, Burlington Junction, MO. Two sisters, Barbara Cable, Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Joyce Liverpool, Tarkio, MO. She is also survived by nine grandsons, two granddaughters, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Elmo United Methodist Church, Rev. Connie Eighmy will be the officiant. Burial will be in the LeMar Cemetery, Elmo, MO. Military rites at the cemetery will be conducted by the Missouri Military Honors Detail, and members of the Bradley-Carver American Letion Post 492, Elmo. The family will receive from 6-8:00 P.M. She married Merle Melvin (Mike) Redding on December 30, 1947, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They lived in Clarksville, IA; Decorah, IA; Waterloo, IA; Mediapolis, IA; Devils Lake, ND; Carthage, IL; New London, IA; Chariton, IA; Knoxville, IA; and spent 13 winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Mike passed away in October 1997, a few months before their 50th wedding anniversary.

Joyce moved to Maryville, MO, in 1999 and enjoyed many years at Homestead Cooperative. She was a long time member of the United Methodist Church. Her hands were always busy with crafts, needlework, sewing, and quilting.

Joyce is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Ellen and Les Kaler of Maryville, Jan Redding and Bob Smith of Boulder, CO, and Susan and Duane Meindertsma of San Clemente, CA; three grandchildren: Arica Kaler of Maryville, Jessica Meindertsma and Brad Meindertsma of San Diego, CA; and one sister, Norma Wells of Iowa City, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike, a brother Robert William “Bill” Mathes, and three sisters, Mary Wilma Fountain, Jeanne Schooley, and Doris Maxine Mathes.

Mrs. Redding has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home.

Betty attended White Oak and Brand schools through the 8th grade and graduated from Savannah High School in 1948. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education degree in secondary education, English and French, from Northwest Missouri State College in 1952. In 1961 she received the Master of Arts Degree in English from the University of Missouri. She completed a French Language Institute in Kansas City and library certification from Northwest Missouri State University.

Her professional education experience includes Andrew County rural schools; Junior High English in Horton, Ks.; 6th grade and Junior High English in Savannah; substitute teaching for the Department of Defense in Orlean, France; French and English in the Kansas City, Mo., Public Schools; French in Maryville and Mt. Alverno; French and substitute teaching in Graham; Library at NWMSU; Library in the North Andrew Public Schools; and English composition at Northwest Community College, St. Joseph.

On June 9, 1957, Betty was united in marriage to Herschel L. Nelson. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Roger C. (Linda) Nelson of Graham and Eric E. (Sylvia) Nelson of Kansas City; grandchildren, Soren Nelson, Sheldon Nelson, Sierra Nelson (Maryville), and Erica Nelson (Kansas City); step grandchildren Kathy (Berg) Jopling (Monroe City), and Sean Berg (Salem, NE); great step grandchildren Alex Jopling, Katie Jopling, Skyler Berg, and Justice Berg; sister Melanie E. (Larry) Rawlins (Macomb, IL); and niece Lamelle D. (Robert) Ryman (Bronx, NY). She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Wayne Eisiminger.

Community and church service was an important part of Betty’s life. She assisted with Methodist youth caravans and camps and participated in two Methodist missionary tours in the Southwest and East coast, which resulted in numerous presentations. She taught Sunday School and/or Vacation Bible School in Savannah, Amazonia, Graham, and Maryville and lately was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Maryville. Over the years she participated in Graham Community Betterment, Boy Scouts, and was co-founder of the Tri-Community Nutrition Site in Maitland.

Betty was devoted to caring for her parents and other elderly relatives and to visiting sick friends and relatives. She loved music, reading, beautiful sunrises, flowers, and family dinners and celebrations. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Betty has been cremated, a memorial visitation will be from 10:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 23, 2010, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville. The family memorial service will be private and at a later date.

Frances was born on June 5, 1927 in Abilene, Texas. She graduated from the Abilene High School. She had worked in the Accounting Department for Bank of America in Kansas City, MO. for many years, retiring in 1987. She and her family moved to tarkio, MO. in 1996.

She married Jackie Cecil Hayes on May 18, 1946 in Abilene, he preceded her in death in 1999.

Frances is survived by her son, Steven R. Hayes, Tulsa, OK, and by five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Opal Maxine Logan, 93, formerly of Maryville, MO, died August 20, 2010 at her home at the Gables Assisted Living, Overland Park, KS.

Born October 23, 1916, near Guilford, Missouri, she was the daughter of Harvey W. and Otha M. (Rimel) Laughlin. She was united in marriage to James “Lloyd” Logan July 30, 1939. He preceded her in death in 2008.

She was a graduate of Stanberry High School, Stanberry, MO and received Bachelor and Master degrees in education from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. Opal was a school teacher for 23 years in Clearmont, Savannah, Maryville and several rural schools.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Maryville, Knabb Country Club, Retired Teachers Association and Business & Professional Women. She was honored as BPW Missouri Woman of the Year in 1987.

She is survived by sons Robert D. (Sally) Logan, Lincoln, NE, Kenneth A. (Dee) Logan, Overland Park, KS, Richard L. Logan, Maryville, MO and daughters Barbara L. Giffin, Lawrence, KS, Linda S.Brown, Overland Park, KS, Nila K. Simmons, Olathe, KS, Pamela J. Delnevo (Stewart), Springfield, MO and Patricia L. Scheer (Glenn), Durango, IA., 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Beverly A. Bush, sister, Velvadeen Russell, brother, Russell Laughlin, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, August 25, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, Maryville with burial at Nodaway Memorial Gardens immediate following.

Opal Mae (Gilbert) Bellinger, 96, of Roeland Park, Kansas died, Monday, August 23, 2010 at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park.

She was born October 4, 1913 in Barnard, Missouri to Elbert Lee and Stella Mae (Strode) Gilbert. She attended Barnard High School.

In 1982 Opal married Charles Bellinger, who preceded her in death on June 26, 1986.

Mrs. Bellinger had worked in a K-Mart Store 27 years, retiring as Manager of the Drug Department. She was a member of the Methodist Faith. Opal spent many years rescuing and caring for stray dogs and cats.

In addition to her husband, Opal was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Everett and Denver Gilbert and sisters: Ruby Burns Scott and Bessie Cotter.

Surviving Opal are her brother: Basil (Betty) Gilbert, Billings, Missouri and several nieces and nephews including, her niece JoAnn Sturm of Kansas City, Missouri who was her caregiver for many years.

Leroy Joseph “Doc” Wiltz, 86, of Maryville, Missouri died Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St Joseph, Missouri.

He was born March 18, 1924 in Sabetha, Kansas, the son of William and Susan (Dix) Wiltz. Leroy joined the US Army in 1945, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II.

He married Betty Jean Neff on May 30, 1947 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

A lifelong member of the Maryville Community, Leroy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Maryville and a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Wiltz on April 28, 1998; his parents; brothers: Donald and Louis Wiltz and sisters: Opal Polsgrove and Lila Wiltz.

 Survivors include: a brother: Clarence (Helen) Wiltz, Urich, Missouri; sisters-in-law: Louise Wiltz, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Louise Barton, St Joseph, Missouri; Pat (Robert) Nymand, Brayton, Iowa; Leona Wiltz, Westline, Missouri; brother-in-law: Charles Polsgrove, Amazonia, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Philip Edward Tobin, 78, of Maryville, Missouri, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 , at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville.

 He was born September 4, 1931 in Maryville, Missouri the son of Thomas Joseph and Edna Mae (O’Day) Tobin. He was a 1949 graduate of Maryville High School and married Eilene Marie O’Connor on September 3, 1956, in St. Joseph, Missouri.                              

 A member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community, Phil retired as Superintendent of Maintenance at Maryville Housing after 25 years of service.

 He was preceded in death by his wife: Eilene Tobin (October 24, 2007); his parents; a brother: Kenneth Tobin and sisters: Thelma Moyer and Marcella Wiles.

 Survivors include his children and their spouses: Chris and Lisa Tobin, Lenexa, Kansas, Dee and Dan Henry, Louisville, Nebraska, Leesa and Kevin Clausen, Havelock, Iowa, Terri and Chris Ryan, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Patrick and Brenda Tobin, Byram, Mississippi, 12 grandchildren; brothers: Larry (Alicia) Tobin and Jerry Tobin, Maryville and many nieces and nephews.

Richard Morehouse, 71, Hopkins, Missouri died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St Joseph, Missouri.

He was born December 15, 1938 in rural Hopkins, Missouri, the son of Faye and Bessie Belle (Broyles) Morehouse. A graduate of Hopkins High School, Richard attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville.

He married Phyllis Flowers, October 10, 1958 in Hopkins, Missouri.

Richard had done heavy construction work and he owned and operated Morehouse Trucking many years, retiring in 2005.

He was a member of the Hopkins Christian Church, the Xenia Masonic Lodge, Hopkins and he was a Charter Member of the Eagles’ Lodge, Maryville. Richard served as Mayor of Hopkins several years and was on the City Council many more. He loved helping his community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Ronald, his twin and Jackie Dean Morehouse; his sisters: Marjorie Walston and Leota Anderson.

Survivors include his wife: Phyllis Morehouse, of their home in Hopkins, son: Rick (Julie) Morehouse, Plano, Texas and grandson: Tucker, who is a freshman at LSU in Baton Rouge,

Louisiana; son: Brett (Melody) Morehouse, Weatherby Lake, Missouri and grandsons: Connor and Peyton; a brother: Gene (Doris) Morehouse, Berthoud, Colorado; a sister: Carole Oberhauser, Hopkins; and many other relatives and friends.

 She was born April 2, 1974 in St Joseph, Missouri the daughter of Charles and Patricia (Farnan) Redden. A 1992 graduate of Northeast Nodaway High School, Ravenwood, Julie married Brian Nielson June 21, 1997 in Conception Junction, Missouri.

 Julie was a homemaker, a member of St Columba Parish, Conception Junction; Relay for Life of Nodaway County and the Northeast Nodaway PTO.

 Preceding her in death were: her mother, Patricia Redden ( February 6, 2006); her maternal grandfather, Lawrence Farnan and paternal grandfather, John Redden Sr.

Laura Jean Young, 72, Maryville, Missouri died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at her home.

She was born April 2, 1938 in Albany, Missouri, the daughter of Harry and Thelma (Quigley) Bower. A 1956 graduate of Albany High School, Laura attended Northwest Missouri State College, where she was a member of the Northwest Choir her Freshman year.

She married L. D. Young III on September 21, 1957 in Albany, Missouri.

A homemaker, Laura’s passion was spending time with her husband, kids and grandkids. She was a member of the Albany First Presbyterian Church, the LLL Club, Quitman, Missouri and Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.

Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her parents, a sister: Harriet Jane McConkey and brother: George F Bower.

Marjorie Ellen "Micki" Jones, 54, Pickering, Missouri, died Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Micki was born April 20, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ralph and Benita Emerson Wallace.

A graduate of Maryville High School, Maryville, Missouri, she was a Head Cook for the North Nodaway School District and had served many local nursing homes as a CNA.

She married Russ Jones on July 1, 2000 in Pickering.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents and mother, Benita Marlene Emerson.

Josephine (Jo) Hazel Cook, 69,  Maryville MO, passed away August 14, 2010, at home surrounded by her family.

Born February 7, 1941, in Afton IA, Josephine was the daughter of the late David LeRoy and Hazel Ross of Shannon City, IA.  She was preceded in death by her sister Gertrude Jennings and brother David Ross.

Josephine is survived by her husband Gary L. Cook, Maryville; daughters Julie Andrews, Van Alstyne TX and Jeanette Collin,  Maitland MO;  brother Richard Ross, Shannon City IA, as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Josephine was a graduate of the inaugural class of LPN nursing in 1969, from Northwest Missouri State College.  She proceeded to achieve her RN degree from Missouri Western State College, a BS degree in Nursing and a Master of Science degree in Psychology from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.  Josephine worked for several years for Dr. Robert Dunshee, Maryville, as well as St. Francis Hospital, finishing her nursing career at Parkdale Manor Care Center in 2002.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 17th at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.  The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm at Price's on Monday, the 16th.

Burial will be in the Hopkins, MO Cemetery.

Rocky was born on November 22, 1957 to Charles B. and Virginia Peregrine Partridge in Maryville. His father preceded him in death in 2005. He was also preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Maryville High School graduate, Rocky participated in football, and went to State in wrestling. Rocky had worked for Ed Spire Construction of Maryville, doing field tile and water line construction.

Rocky was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, motorcycling, and playing with his cat. He attended the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville, and had memberships in the A.B.A.T.E. of Iowa, and the Maryville Chapter of the Freedom of the Road Riders.

His is survived by his wife, Flame Partridge, and his cat, Sydney, both of the home. And by his mother, Virginia Partridge, Maryville, two sisters, Peggy Partridge, Burlington Junction, MO, and Saun Willtrout, Maryville, one brother, Scott Partridge, Maryville, and by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and two great nieces.

Rocky’s funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO., Rev. Paul McKim will be the officiant. Burial will be in the Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.

Alvin was born on November 8, 1924 in Langdon, MO. to Fred and Mary Erdman Poppa, his family moved to Maryville in 1938 from Tarkio, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harold Poppa, and a grandson, Jesse Scott.

Alvin was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and received a Purple Heart Medal, and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the James Edward Gray American Legion Post 100, Maryville.

He was employed by the City of Maryville for 40 years and retired in 1987. He started part time using a push mower to mow the city parks, later working with the street department, and was the sewer treatment operator, and retired from the water department.

Alvin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen J. Fleenor Poppa of Maryville, and by his children, son, Gene (Gail) Poppa, Maryville, daughter, Boda (Robbie) Scott, Maryville, and son, Danny Poppa, Oklahoma City, OK. His is also survived by two brothers, Merel Poppa, Maryville, and Milton Poppa, White City, OR, and by five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Alvin’s wish was to be cremated. His memorial graveside service and inurnment will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 9, 2010, at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville, the Rev. Mary was born in Hopkins, MO on March 26, 1918, to Charles Albert and Elizabeth Ellen Campbell Thompson. She had resided in Kansas City for many years and moved to Sunrise Beach when she retired. She was a member of the Rosanna Chapter #262, O.E.S. Mary was a graduate of Hopkins High School in 1937. She worked as a lithograph operator for the Kansas City Star, then for a lightning rod company, and Crown Drug. She had done some modeling for Macy’s and the Jones Store, and retired as a clerk from J&G Market, all of Kansas City, MO.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her son Craig, who was killed in Vietnam on February 12, 1968, and by her sister Margaret Alexander, and brother, Harland Thompson. She married Glen Kral in 1988, he passed away in 2007. Mary is survived by numerous friends and family members who loved her dearly.

Graveside services and interment will be on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., at the Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, MO. The Rev. Laura Sauvage will officiate. No formal visitation is planned.

She was born on February 25, 1943 in Illinois, and had been a former resident of Rea, MO., and lived the past 35 years in Graham. She graduated from the Bethany MO. High School, and was a member of the Union Church of Graham, MO. Janet had retired from St. Francis Home Health.

Her parents were Garland Wayne and Wilma Gillespie Coots, and preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, and a brother.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Stan) Sportsman, Graham, MO., and by her son, Mike Carter, Georgia. Her three sisters, Ilene Smith, and Kay Coots, both of Bethany, MO. and JoAnn Coots, Florida., and by her grandson Craig (Jessica) Sportsman, Barnard, MO., great grandchildren, Rylie and Rowdy Sportsman, Barnard, MO. Kirby Ray Fuller, 63, Burlington Junction, Missouri, died Friday, August 27, 2010, at his home in Burlington Junction.

He was born March 05, 1947, in Maryville, Missouri to the late Harry R. and Carrie P. Brown Fuller.

A 1961 graduate of Burlington Junction High School, he was retired, having worked for Kawasaki Motors as a production worker.

He married Betty Jane Harris on March 08, 1968, in Austin Texas.

Kirby was a veteran of the US Army serving his country in Vietnam.

Preceding him in death were his wife Betty (1997); two brothers, Larry and Robert Fuller; and two sisters, Betty Miers and Norma Lee.

Survivors include: three sons; Ronnie, Cameron, Missouri, Gary, Moberly, Missouri, and Brian (Angela) Fuller, Burlington Junction, Missouri and one daughter Jennifer Fuller, Burlington Junction and 4 granddaughters and 6 grandsons.

Barbara Clement, 85, Skidmore, Missouri, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Golden Living Center, Maryville, Missouri.

Barbara was born November 5, 1924, in Maitland, Missouri to late Orien J. and Esther C. Childers Patterson.

A graduate of Mound City Missouri High School class of 1942 and the University of Missouri class of 1946. She taught business in the Rock Port school system.

She married Jack Clement on March 9, 1948 in Shiloh Church of Maitland. He preceded her in death in 1991.

Barbara was a member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church, Skidmore, Mound City and Skidmore bridge clubs, and PEO.

Others preceding her in death were her son Del Franklin Clement and a brother G.D. Patterson.

Survivors include:  Jesse (Joan) Clement, Hot Springs, AR, Greg (Kathi) Clement, Skidmore, MO, Royce (Misty) Clement, Maitland, MO, Scott (Leesa) Clement, Skidmore, MO, and a step daughter Roseann Taylor, Mound City, MO, numerous grandchildren, great grand children, neices and nephews.

Betty (Slagle) Simmons, 88, Ravenwood, Missouri, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Maryville, Missouri.

 Betty was born November 12, 1921, in Maryville, the daughter of Jess and Ethel (Pope) Slagle. A graduate of Harmony High School, Ravenwood, she married Orlo “Buster” Simmons on June 6, 1940 in St Joseph, Missouri.

 Betty was a member of Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville. A homemaker, she had worked at Maryville Packing Company and as a waitress at Kings Restaurant. Betty and her husband co-owned and operated “Bus and Betty’s 66“at 5 Mile Corner, south of Maryville, before going to work at the HyVee Bakery. Betty retired in 1993 after seventeen years of service.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster, on September 22, 2002; her parents; a son-in-law: Buster (Ralph) Millsap and brother: John Slagle.

 Survivors include her daughter: Elaine Millsap, Ravenwood; her son: Kenneth (Linda) Simmons, Parnell; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Thelma Womack Kerwin, 91, of Parnell, Missouri died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St Joseph, Missouri.

She was born April 10, 1919 in Ravenwood, Missouri, the daughter of Herman Sr. and Lora Beatrix (Severe) Womack. Thelma married Fred Thomas Kerwin on February 20, 1939 in Parnell, Missouri.

 A homemaker, Mrs. Kerwin was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church, St Ann’s Altar Society, and the Grantham Homemakers Club, Parnell.

 She was preceded in death by her husband: Fred Kerwin (February 25, 2009); her parents; three brothers: Dean, Herman Jr and Gerald Womack; three grandchildren: Kyle Wells, Shelly Schubert and Tasha Roberts.

 Survivors include her children: Gary (Raylene) Kerwin, Ravenwood, Missouri; Marlin Kerwin, Dearborn, Missouri; and: Rose Wells, St Joseph, Missouri; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, a sister: Lois Farnan, Maryville, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.

 Visitation is 6-7 p.m. Friday September, 3, 2010 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Parnell, followed by a prayer service at 7 pm.

 Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial is in Seven Dolors Cemetery, Parnell, Missouri.

Sister M. Irmina Blatt, OSB, 103, Clyde, Missouri, died Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Our Lady of Rickenbach Health Care, Clyde. 

Cecilia Mary Blatt was born May 7, 1907, in Granville, Iowa the daughter of Nicholas and Anna Mary (Malget) Blatt.

Sr. Irmina joined the Benedictine Convent in 1927. She served in various locations including Kansas City, San Diego, Mundelein, Illinois, and St. Louis and returned to Clyde in 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents and was the last survivor of eleven siblings. 

Survivors include her Monastic Family and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A Wake Service will be 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 7, 2010, in the Our Lady of Rickenbach Chapel, Clyde, Missouri.

Dixie Ann VanRoekel 60 of Maryville, Missouri died Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at St Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri.

Dixie was born August 31, 1950 in Maryville, the daughter of Richard and Ruth (Kaufman) Garrett. She graduated from Maryville High School in the class of 1968 and received a BS degree in Family and Human Environmental Sciences at Northwest Missouri State University in 1995. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Preceding Dixie in death were her parents; grandparents: Feta Garrett and Adam Wright; great-grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Loch.

Survivors include her sister: Jacquelyn Sullivan, Denver, Colorado; nieces: Kelli Beth Matz, Kansas City, Kansas and Kary Adkins, Centennial, Colorado; great-nieces: Katherine McClain, Denver; Kristi Murphy, Gardner, Kansas and Zoe Adkins, Centennial; great-nephews: Austin Murphy, Gardner and Seth Adkins, Centennial and an aunt: Christine Punzo, Maryville, Missouri.

Dixie’s body has been cremated, according to her wishes.

Beulah Faye Morrow, 90 of Guilford, Missouri died Friday, September 10, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri.

She was born December 12, 1919 in Ft Morgan, Colorado, the daughter of Walter R and Faye (Deemer) Babcock. Beulah was a 1937 graduate of Phillipsburg High School in Phillipsburg, Kansas.   She married LeRoy Gilbert Morrow on December 16, 1941 in Los Angeles, California.

 Mrs. Morrow was a homemaker and member of the Guilford, Missouri United Methodist Church.

 She was preceded in death by her husband: LeRoy Morrow on February 15, 1992; her parents and a brother: Walter Babcock.

 Survivors include a son: Albert Lee (Sue) Morrow, Guilford; a daughter: Judy Ann (Terry) Newcomer, Holt, Missouri; three grandchildren: eight great-grandchildren and a brother: Charles L. Deemer, Torrance, California.

 Visitation is 6-7pm Monday, September 13, 2010 at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville.
