Kamara, Yaya Kabba - Yaya Kabba Kamara, 52, of Maryville, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 18, 2008 at a St. Louis Hospital.

Born on April 18, 1956 in Makeni, Sierra Leone, West Africa, he was the son of the late, Mohamed Kabba Kamara and Mabinty Sillah.

He was formerly employed with Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corporation, Maryville.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sue Griffin Kamara, whom he married on December 30, 2007, loving children, Adama Kabba Kamara, step-children, Michael Dean Owens, Independence, MO, Pamela Sue Bears, Maryville, Amy Lee Weese, Burlington Junction, Robert Brandon Owens, Maryville, Laura Nicole Owens, Graham, brothers, Idrissa Kabba Kamara, Ibrahim Kabba Karmara, Mohamed Kabba Kamara, sisters, Janatu Tarawally, Kadiatu Kabba Kamara, Sunkari Kabba Kamara, Ariatu Sesay, he is also survived by the family that brought him to the states, Dr. Jack & Marilyn Flinner, Mankato, MN, 9 grandchilden.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville, MO 644688. Final Resting Place will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville. There will be no evening visitation however the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 Noon to 2 P.M. The family has requested memorial donations to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

Keever, Lee "Donald" -

L. Donald Keever, surrounded by his family, went to his eternal home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2008.

Donald was born October 12th, 1915 on a farm east of Skidmore, Missouri to Carl and Bertha Dawson Keever, the oldest of four sons. He attended Eureka School, a one room school house, and Skidmore High School.

He married Neva Colwell on February 14, 1937 at the Methodist parsonage in Maryville, Missouri. He and Neva were married 68 years before her passing.

He was a farmer. He and his wife lived all their life in the Nodaway and Holt counties working side by side, always together. He also worked at Center Milk Plant and Northwest Missouri Stae College before retiring in 1980.

He was a member of the Skidmore Methodist Church. Many Sunday afternoons after church were spent visiting family or local nursing homes to see friends and family there. His life of giving was an example and blessing to others.

He was a quiet man, gentle and loving to everyone. He was always there to help if anyone was in need. He loved his family and friends, welcoming them with a smile when they came to visit.

Donald is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Richard Wilson, St. Joseph, his grandchildren and their spouses, Lora and Randy Sondrol, St. Paul Minnesota and Troy and Jodi Wilson, Lee's Summit, Missouri, seven great-grandchildren, Chai, Corbin, Caleb, Noah and Isabella Wilson, Lee's Summit, MO and Katie and Matthew Sondrol, St. Paul, Minnesota, his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Betty Keever Maryville, Missouri and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers, Dean Keever and Bob Keever.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2:00 PM at the Skidmore United Methodist Church.

Burial will be at the Maitland, Missouri Cemetery.

Ruth Irene (Walden) Keever 88, Maryville, Missouri (formerly of Skidmore, Missouri) died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville.

She was born on December 2, 1919 in Maitland, Missouri, the daughter of Grant and Minnie (Apfelbach) Walden. Ruth graduated in the 1938 senior class of Maitland High School, Maitland, Missouri. She married Dean Edward Keever November 15, 1942 in Maryville, Missouri

Ruth was a member of the Skidmore, Missouri Christian Church, a farm wife and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Dean, on March 4, 2002; her daughter, Cindy Ungles; her parents; five brothers: George, Jim, William, Cecil and Ralph Walden and a sister: Martha Ellison..

She is survived by three grandsons and their wives: Bruce and Kathy Ungles, Columbia, Missouri; Brian and Becky Ungles, Ballwin, Missouri and Brett and Shelly Ungles, Kansas City Missouri; a sister: Dorothy Albright, Webb City, Missouri; 4 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law: Elvin Ungles, Mound City, Missouri; nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 6:30-8pm Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.

Kelemen, Mary Mercedes, Sister -

Sr. Mary Mercedes Kelemen, 92, Clyde, Missouri, died Monday, October 27, 2008, at Our Lady of Rickenbach in Clyde.

Irene Marie Kelemen was born January 17, 1916, the daughter of Frank and Julia (Toth) Kelemen in Cleveland, Ohio.

Sr. Mercedes joined Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde December 7, 1949
and made her final profession November 9, 1956.

Sister worked in the altar bread department, the kitchen and made ceramics in the craft shop.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Ruth Kelemen.

Sister Mary Mercedes is survived by her monastic family of the Benedictine Sisters.

A wake service will be Tuesday, October 28, at 7:15 p.m., in the Benedictine Convent, Clyde, Missouri.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 29, 7:30 a.m., at the Benedictine Convent of Perpetual Adoration, Clyde, Missouri with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

He was born January 4, 1910 in the state of Washington,the son of Patrick and Elinor Kelley.

A farmer, Pat was a member of St. Columba Parish, Conception Junction, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kelly, Vera Helen Pruitt - Vera Helen Kelly, age 62, Maryville, formerly of Maitland, Missouri died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

She was born April 29, 1947 in Elmo, Missouri, the daughter of Donald Jacob and Edna Lucille Perry Pruitt.

She was a security officer for Kawasaki Manufacturing, Maryville. Vera was a member of the Christian Church, Maitland.

Preceding her in death were her parents; Donald Pruitt and Edna (Perry) Fithen; 2 sisters, Donna Mae Pruitt and Lois Jean Marks; and brother Arthur Leon Pruitt.

Her survivors include 2 daughters; LaDonna (Ken) Jones, Oregon, MO, Kathryn Kelly of the home; sister-in-law Karen Pruitt, Albion, IA; Step-Mother Peggy Pruitt, Marshalltown, IA; 3 grandchildren Toshia Jones, Miranda Jones, and Wyatt Emery; 2 Aunts Betty (Byron) Osthoff, Shambaugh, IA and Helen Hopper, Webb City, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other friends and loved ones.

She was employed with the Maitland Nutrition Site and the Nodaway-Holt School Library.

She is survived by her devoted husband Harold D. Kenny, and her loving sons, Tommy D. Kenny and wife Connie, Skidmore, MO; Jerry Kenny and wife Cate, Skidmore, MO; Kurby L. and wife Marylou, Skidmore, MO. She is also survived by a brother William Glenn Alloway and wife Christine, Dana Point, CA; and a sister-in-law Helen Alloway, Austin, TX, as well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Anna Mae Alloway, a brother Harley Vernon Alloway, and Marshall Couch.

Kern, George Vincent - George Vincent Kern, 85, of Ravenwood, passed from this life on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at his home.

Born on February 25, 1922 in Conception, MO he was the son of the late Frowin C. & Rose (Schwebach) Kern.

He was a Veteran serving in WW II in the US Navy.

He was a member of the St. Columbia Catholic Church and a member of the Tri-C American Legion Post 464 Conception.

He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Althea M. (Derks) Kern, whom he married on May 21, 1955, loving children, Phillip Kern and wife Janice, Charles Kern and wife Rena and Chris Kern all of Ravenwood, also survived by two grandchildren & three step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leo & Albert Kern, two sisters, Mary Galbraith and Agnes Lochart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, MO. Final Resting Place will be in the St. Columba Cemetery with military honors .

Fred Thomas Kerwin, 91, Parnell, Missouri died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at St, Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri.

He was born April 8, 1917 in Parnell, Missouri, the son of Thomas and Josephine Wilhelmina (Straussmyer) Kerwin. He married Thelma Lauretta Womack on February 20, 1939 in Parnell, Missouri.

A retired farmer and livestock producer, Mr. Kerwin was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church and the Seven Dolors Cemetery Board, Parnell. He served on the Farm Credit Services Board over 40 years, he was also a member of the FHA Board and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: James and Philip Kerwin; a sister: Anna Schmitz; three grandchildren: Kyle Wells, Shelly Schubert and Tasha Roberts.

Survivors include his wife: Thelma, of their home in Parnell; two sons: Gary (Raylene) Kerwin, Ravenwood, Missouri and Marlin Kerwin, Dearborn, Missouri; a daughter: Rose Wells, St Joseph, Missouri; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Kieser, Vivian Ann Sears - Vivian Ann Kieser, 77, of Maryville, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at her home.

Born on January 26, 1932 in Maryville, she was the daughter of the late Kirtley & Vivian (Bulher) Sears. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Leroy Thomas and her second husband, John Kieser.

She was a Homemaker and member of the St. Gregory's Catholic Church as well as a member of the Canasta Card Club.

She is survived by her loving children, Kirtley Thomas, Maryville, Kathy Wiseman, Raymore, grandsons, Joshua Wiseman and Seth Wiseman both of Raymore. Also surviving are brothers, Bulher Sears, Bill Sears, and sister, Shirley Zech, all of Maryville and was preceded in death by brother Richard Sears.

Mrs. Kieser has been cremated under the trusted care of the Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville. There will no viewing or visitation.

Kinder, Ruth Brown - Ruth Kinder, 83, Maryville, Missouri, died Thursday, February 28, 2008, at her home.

She was born on June 7, 1924 in Fairfax, Missouri, the daughter of Michael and Leatha (Wilson) Brown. Ruth married William Allen "Wick" Kinder on April 12, 1947 in Troy, Kansas.

She was a homemaker, waitress and cook and a member of the Mormon Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wick on July 27, 2002; her parents and sisters: Ruby Martin and Bertha Lee.

Ruth is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Karen and Milton Sovereign, Pickering, Missouri and Marla and Mike O'Neill, Kingston, Missouri; 4 grandchildren: Carol Heflin, Marcy Clark, Kyle Tunell and Brenna Schluter; eight great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Pauline Dragoo, Skidmore, Missouri; Helen Bright, Conception Junction, Missouri and Marie Grasty, Ravenwood, Missouri; nieces and nephews.

King, Irene Brockhoff - Brown County native Irene E. King, 84, of Maryville, Missouri, died Saturday evening, June 20, 2009, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri.
A celebration of Irene’s life is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, Kansas. Pastor William Volker, Savannah, Missouri, officiate. Interment were follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha, Kansas.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Tuesday. The meet with friends one hour prior to services Wednesday.
Irene was born March 5, 1925, near Hamlin, the daughter of Franklyn and Dorothea Kruse Brockhoff and had lived in the northeast Kansas area until 1992. She worked in Hiawatha for Kansas State Department of Social & Rehabilitative Service 25 years before retiring.
Though the years, Irene was very active in her Church, serving in various capacities, and also, her community. She especially loved her family and many friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; a stillborn son Bernard Alan; first husband Carl Bauerle , Jr.; second husband William F. Knickerbocker; and a brother Russell Brockhoff.
Survivors include her husband Albert of their home in Maryville; a daughter Jeanne Longenecker and husband Rick, of Maryville; step-daughters Connie King of Maryville, Karen Fleetwood and husband Jeff of Bedford, IA; three grandchildren: Ryan Longenecker and wife Amy, Jami Huckeba and husband Jeb, Shannon Nordahl and husband Mike; step-grandson Tony Shepherd; great-grandson Carter Ashton Longenecker; step-great-grandchildren Gabrielle and Jack Shepherd.

Born on October 15, 1925 in Skidmore, MO he was the son of the late George Raymond & Margaret Grace (Maurer) Kiser.

He was a WW II Veteran serving in the US Navy.

He was a member of Graham Union Church, James Edward Gray American Legion Post 100, Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. Lodge #289, Graham.

He was a carpenter most of his life and retired in 1992 from Northwest Missouri State University.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Roberta Jean (Neff) Kiser, whom he married on February 14, 1949 in Maryville, loving children, Kathryn Davenport and husband Robert, Branson, MO, Karen Elifrits and husband Chad, St. Joseph, MO, Rebecca Jean Kiser and husband Andrew Stanley, Shawnee, KS, a sister, Sandra Sue Sanders, Maryville, two brothers, Paul R. Kiser, Barnard, MO & Clarence "Butch" Kiser, Singer Island, FL, eight grandchildren & ten great grandchildren.

Kivett, Mary Carolyn Slaughter - Mrs Mary Carolyn Kivett, 85, long time resident of Hopkins, died at 11:45 o'clock Friday night in the Berry nursing home at Shambaugh [Iowa] where she had been a patient for four months. She had been ill only a short time.

Mrs Kivett is survived by three daughters, Mrs Ruby Garten, Hopkins; Mrs Dale King and Mrs Stewart O'Dougherty, both of Lenox, Ia; one sister, Mrs Clara Miller, Portland: two brothers, Theodore Slaughter and C.W. Slaughter, both of Portland: 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church in Hopkins and burial will be in the White Oak cemetery near Pickering in charge of the Swanson funeral directors. The Rev Earl Griffith will conduct the service.

Kosiba, Mark "Lawrence," Brother OSB -

Brother Mark “Lawrence” Kosiba, OSB, 74 of Conception, Missouri died on Monday, November 30, 2009, at North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Born Wednesday, April 3, 1935 in Duncan, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna Mostek Kosiba.

He was a member of the Conception Abbey since 1957. He worked as Abbey Infirmarian from 1957-1965; Development Director, Standing Rock Indian Reservation, Fort Yates, North Dakota from 1965-1986; Development Officer at Conception Abbey from 1986-2004; and the Abbey Porter from 2004-2009.

Surviving are his Monastic Community and sisters, Phyllis(Larry) Kush and Diane(Gary)Keeshan, and his sister-in law Vicky(Bob) Carstenesen, all of Columbus, Nebraska, and by many loving nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Ray Kosiba, and sisters, Mary Kumpf, Theresa Aherns, Angeline Brewer, and Genevieve Kuta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with Abbot Gregory Polan, OSB, officiating. A visitation will held at the Basilica at 6:00 PM follow by Vespers of the Dead at 7:15 PM on Thursday, December 3, 2009.

Born on December 26, 1950 in Maryville, she was the daughter of the late Donald Ray & Catherine (Moody) Carter.

She was of the Protestant Faith. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Master's Degree in Psychology. She was employed as a Drug & Alcohol Counselor for many years.

Terri Ranae (Hagg) Kretzschmer, 48 of Independence, Missouri died on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence.

Born Wednesday, April 19, 1961 in Maryville, Missouri, she was the daughter of Gary and Darlene Vance Hagg. June 10, 2000 she was united in marriage to Brian Kretzschmer in Nevada, Missouri.

She was a 1979 graduate of Nodaway Holt High School, 1984 graduate of NWMSU Practical nursing Program, and 1994 graduate of Park College where she received her Registered Nursing degree. Terri had served for 30 years in the medical profession.

Her survivors include: Husband, Brian, Independence; Parents, Gary and Darlene Hagg, Maryville; one daughter, Veronica Lee Malone, Independence; step son, Matthew Ryan Kretzschmer, and brother, David Alan Hagg, Independence.

Funeral service: 5:00 PM, February 6, Price Funeral Home, Maryville, with cremation to follow.

Ruby Virginia Krome, 106, Burlington Junction, died at home on Saturday, October 17, 2009.

Born July 21, 1903, in Burlington Junction, she was the daughter of the late William Presley and Eddice Graves Neff. She attended Burlington Junction High School.

On March 1, 1934, she married William Frederick Krome in Maryville, Missouri.

Mrs. Krome was a member of the Burlington Junction Christian Church and the Garden Club. She was a seamstress and an avid gardener.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill (January 15, 1975) and three sisters.

Surviving are sons, Alton Krome, Burlington Junction and Allen (Kim) Krome, Corydon, Iowa; daughter, Eddice (Marvin) Griffey, Olathe, Kansas; three grandchildren: Duane Griffey, Red Oak, Iowa, Kurt Griffey, Camarillo, California and Scott Krome, Des Moines, Iowa; six great-grandchildren: Michelle and William Griffey, Red Oak, Kahlee Griffey, Blaine, Minnesota, and Jimi, Cooper and Kimberlee Krome, Des Moines.

There will be no formal visitation, however friends may call at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, anytime after 9:00 am Monday.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, at the Christian Church, Burlington Junction.

Burial will be in Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction.
