Walston, Marjorie Elaine Morehouse - Kansas City - Marjorie Elaine Morehouse Walston, 59, Kansas City, formerly of Hopkins [Missouri], died Thursday (May 23, 1985) unexpectedly at her home.

The daughter of Harold Fay Morehouse and Bessie Broyles Morehouse, she was born Feb 22, 1926, in Hopkins.

On Aug 8, 1946, she married Elvin Walston.

Mrs Walston was a homemaker and a retired teacher.

A resident of Kansas City for 20 years, she lived in this area most of her early years. She graduated from Hopkins High School in 1943 and was a member of the First Christian Church of Hopkins.

Survivors include her husband, Elvin Walston, of the home in Kansas City; one daughter, Sheryl Rounds, Cedar Hill, Texas; two sons, Don Walston, Kansas City, and Randy Walston, of the home; four grandchildren; two sisters, Leota Anderson, Maryville, and Carol Oberhauser, Hopkins; two brothers, Gene Morehouse, Longmont, Colo., and Richard Morehouse, Hopkins; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack and Ronald Morehouse.

Services are planned for 3:30 pm Sunday (May 26, 1985) at the First Christian Church, Hopkins.

Burial is set for Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins.

The body will lie in state 2:30 to 3:30 pm before services on Sunday (May 26, 1985).

Willhoyte, Ben – Maryville – Ben Willhoyte, Maryville [Mo], died Sunday (Nov 18, 1984) at Bishop-Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, Neb., after a brief illness.

Born Aug 12, 1917 in Maryville, he was the son of Ernest Willhoyte and Sarah Taylor Willhoyte.

On June 28, 1941, he married Dorothy Whitfield in Oronogo.

Mr Willhoyte was a livestock breeder and farmer.

He was a graduate of the University of Missouri with a B.S. in agriculture, and he belonged to the Farm House Fraternity at M.U.

A lifetime resident of Maryville, he was a member of the Maryville First Christian Church. He was also on the Board of Directors of Citizens State Bank, Maryville. He was the past president of the Nodaway County Farm Bureau and past school board member of the Maryville High School District.

When he was 17, he received the degree of State Farmer at the annual convention of the Future Farmers of America. The Willhoyte family was twice given the honor of representing Nodaway County as Farm Family in 1957 and 1958. The Willhoytes were inducted into the Northwest Missouri Beef Improvement Association’s Hall of Fame in 1981 “in recognition of their years of service and cooperation to the Livestock Industry.”

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Willhoyte, of the home; four daughters, Carolyn Wiley, Glenwood, Ill., Mary Ann Holsinger, Centralia, Marjorie Dinsdale, Independence, and Patty Whan, Maryville; and seven grandchildren, Stacy and Angie Holsinger, Shawna, Travis and Blake Dinsdale and Alison and Ashley Whan.

Services are planned for 10:30 am Tuesday (Nov 20, 1984) at the Maryville First Christian Church. The Rev Robert Allen will officiate.

Burial is set for Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.

Williams, Imogene H. Henderson, 93, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at a local nursing home. Imogene was born at home, near Denver, MO, on February 10, 1914. Her parents were Frank and Etta Henderson. She was a life-long resident of northwest Missouri.
At age 17, Imogene received her teaching certificate and rode her horse “Boots” to her first teaching assignment. She later received a BS in Education from Northwest Missouri State University and taught in several rural northwest Missouri schools. Imogene also partnered in Maryville with her husband Garvin, forming the B&W Sporting Goods Store, Nodaway Lanes Bowling Alley, KNIM Radio Station and the Williams Lawn Seed Co., now operated by their son, Leon.
Imogene loved her church, and was a faithful member of Maryville’s First Baptist Church. She loved playing the piano and organ, teaching the Young Married Sunday School Class, attending the weekly prayer group and doing whatever was asked of her. She was also a lifetime member of the AAUW.
Imogene lost her mother at age 3, helping to form the loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother she was. She had an adventurous spirit and would arrange unique outings for Leon during the family’s many sales trips.
On April 20, 1935, Imogene married the love of her life, Garvin R. Williams, of Albany. Garvin passed away on February 20, 2003. Imogene was also preceded in death by her parents.
Left to mourn Imogene’s passing: her son Leon and wife, Elizabeth Williams, of Maryville; grandson Josh and wife, Joanna Williams, Kearney; granddaughters Rebecca Simmons, Sarasota, FL and Amanda and husband, Duane Monks, Tulsa, OK; four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Cody, Maggie and Brody; sister Mildred and husband, Vincent Adams, Leavenworth, KS. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and other family members.
The funeral service was held at 10 am on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, Maryville. The burial was in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. The family received friends from 6-8 pm. Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Bram Funeral Home of Maryville, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, Maryville.

Williams, Valerie J., 46, of Kansas City, Missouri died unexpectedly at her home on August 23, 2007.

Valerie was born on March 5, 1961 in Terre Haute, Indiana and grew up in the Kansas City area from the time she was 6 years old. She graduated from Truman High School in 1978. Valerie graduated from the Independence College of Cosmetology and was a hair dresser in the Kansas City area for many years. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Loren & Eleanor Frederick of Westfield, IL and her paternal grandparents Al & Neoma Williams of Martinsville, IL. She is survived by her mother, Vera Hanks of Maryville, MO, her father John Williams, of Martinsville, IL, her sister, Holly Kunkel of Maryville, MO, her brother Gary Ball of Springfield, IL, her special nephew, Jared Williams of Fort Sill, OK, and her special niece Brianna Welch of Maryville, MO, and also other nephews, aunts, uncles, & cousins. Valerie was a very sweet girl and had a heart of gold. She knew in her soul that God loved her.

Valerie was cremated under the trusted care of the Danfelt Funeral Home.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville, Missouri 64468 with the Rev. Paul McKim, Officiating. Woldruff, Clarence Glen "Skinny" - Clarence Glen "Skinny" Woldruff, 87, of Hopkins, died June 29, 1985 at his home. Funeral services were held July 2, at the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev Marc Hibbard and Rev Jon Spalding officiating. Burial was in the Hopkins Cemetery.

Masonic services were conducted by Plumb Lodge #285 of Siam on July 1.

Mr Woldruff was born Nov 16, 1897 at Braddyville, the son of James and Amanda Fine Woldruff. On Nov 26, 1924, he was married to Edna May Morehouse in Maryville.

He was a member of the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church of Hopkins, a 60-year member of the Plumb Masonic Lodge #285 in Siam; the Hopkins Order of Eastern Star #401, the Hopkins Lions Club and the Maryville Elks Club. He was co-owner of the Woldruff-Allison Ford dealership in Hopkins from 1956-73 and had worked at the garage for many years beforehand.

He is survived by his wife, Edna of the home; three daughters, Mrs Robert (Virginia) Gill of Lawson, Mo, Mrs Chester (Norma) Robison of Lakewood, Co, and Mrs William (Carole) Spalding of Hopkins; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, George and Marvin Woldruff, both of Clarinda; and two sisters, Vera Clayton of New Market and Lois Orme of Hopkins.

[138] Wilson, Orlena M. [Lucas] - Mrs Orlena M. Wilson, 93, of Coyville [Kansas], died at St Margaret's Mercy hospital--Tuesday, October 15 [1968].

Funeral services were held this afternoon, at 2:00 pm, in the Coyville Christian church. Rev Paul Weymouth of Lafontaine conducted the services under the direction of Cason-Knickerbocker Funeral home. Burial was in the Coyville [Kansas] cemetery.

She was born March 18, 1875, at Nodaway County, Missouri, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Lucas. Her husband, Lewis Wilson, passed away on March 2, 1932. Mrs Wilson was a member of the Coyville Christian church.

Survivors are one brother, Ray [sic, Roy] Lucas of Bedford, Iowa; two granddaughters, Mrs Gay Spillman, Route 1, Fredonia [Kansas] and Mrs Neola Steele of Tulsa, Okla; seven great grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren.

MIAMI, Okla. – Artie Eugene “Gene” Webber, 77, Miami, formerly of Casa Grande, Ariz.; Amoret, Mo.; and Gower, Mo., died Feb. 16, 2005.

Gene was born March 5, 1927, in Gower.

He was a dispatcher and bookkeeper for Union Quarries in Independence, Mo.

Gene is survived by his wife, Faye Webber, Miami; sister-in-law, Loraine Bitner, Miami, as well as, nephews and nices.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler, Mo. Visitation will be 1:30 to 2 p.m. Feb. 20. Contributions: American Kidney Foundation.

Weston, Homer L.

1949-2005

ATCHISON, Kan. – Homer Lee Weston, 56, Atchison, formerly St. Joseph, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at the St. Joseph hospital.

Homer was the son of the late Ruth (R.C.) Weston-Caliup and Floyd Waffee. Born Jan. 10, 1949, in St. Joseph, he attended Bartlett High School. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.

Homer lived in Warren, Ohio, for 12 years, returning home to Atchison in October of 2003.

He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Israel and Wanda Weston Briggs, Atchison; nephew, Lorne B. Weston, Atchison; niece, Janel O. Clay, Topeka, Kan.; two great-nieces; a great-great-niece; and a host of other relatives.

Memorial service: Saturday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m., Second Baptist Church, Platte City, Mo. The family will receive friends and family at 906 S. 17 St., St. Joseph. Arrangements are by Bullock Family Funeral Chapel, St. Joseph.

Wigington, Mary R.

1921-2005

Mary R. “Joe” Wigington, 83, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at a St. Joseph health-care center.

Mrs. Wigington retired as a receptionist from Thompson-Brumm-Knepper Clinic after 15 years of service.

Born in St. Joseph on March 7, 1921, she was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.

She was a member of Hyde Valley United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Wigington was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Wigington, March 3, 2002; her parents, Clyde and Bessie Joe; and two sisters, Mabel Holloway and Lorene Whitcomb.

Surviving: son, James J. Wigington, and wife, Judy, St. Joseph; daughter, Carroll Fike, St. Joseph; sister, Ann Scott, St. Joseph; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at the funeral home.

White - Sandra Kathleen White, age 64, of Burlington Junction, Missouri, passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 30, 2004. Ware, Bill - Funeral Services for Bill Ware, age 88 of Bedford who died Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at the Bedford Nursing & Rehab Center were held Friday, February 24, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Bedford. Interment was held in the Ohio Cemetery in Burlington Junction, Missouri. Memorials can be directed to the Bedford Public Library or the Bedford Senior Center. William Wallis Ware was born June 12, 1917 in Burlington Junction, Missouri the son of James Corfield Ware and Carrie Kay (Crane) Ware. He grew up attending school and graduating from the Burlington Junction High School. On December 25, 1938, in a Christmas Day Ceremony, Bill was united in marriage to Dorothy Walton at the Methodist parsonage in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

The couple farmed in the Burlington Junction area for many years. They moved south of Hopkins and farmed there for twenty years, moving to the Bedford area where they farmed until their retirement in 1978. Bill loved to farm, he enjoyed raising cattle, and had a true passion for being a steward of the land. He was very concerned with conservation, and in every instance, left the land he farmed in better condition than when he found it ~ even when he rented land! Bill was one of the first in the area to raise soybeans as a grain crop. After retirement, Bill and Dorothy spent the next several years in the Savannah and St. Joseph area during most of the year. Summer time was spent at Woodland Park, Colorado, which was a special joy for them.

After retirement, Bill worked in real estate and kept ties to agriculture by taking surveys for the government, gardening and helping his brother with the farming operation. He had to "keep his hands in the dirt". Bill and Dorothy were both active in county extension work. Together Bill and Dorothy enjoyed travel, and had experienced wonderful vacations in Europe, England, Alaska, and many points in the United States as well as some winter time in Texas. Of course, their summers in Colorado, escaping the hot, humid Midwest weather were always a treat. Bill loved to play cards, especially with Dorothy, Rickie, Linda, Amy, Diane ~ in other words ~ the women of the family!

Left to cherish Bill's memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy Ware of Bedford; two sisters, Theodora Meek of College Springs; and Dorothy Derderian of Lake Forrest, Illinois; three children, Dave Ware and wife Rickie of Mountain Home, Idaho; Mick Ware and wife Diane of Bedford; and Linda Ware of Santa Fe, New Mexico; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding Bill in death were his parents; four sisters; three brothers; an infant daughter and one grandchild.

Bill will be missed by many ~ both family and friends. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn Bill's passing.

Wall, Clara M.

1932-2005

Clara May (Dozier) Wall, 72, St. Joseph, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at a hospital in Kansas City, Kan., after a short illness.

Clara was born Nov. 15, 1932, at Lonoke County, Ark., to Emmett and Alice (Hurt) Dozier.

Clara married Thomas Wall, Feb. 20, 1951, at Benton, Ark.

Clara worked as a psychiatric aide for St. Joseph State Hospital for 17 years.

She was a former member of Savannah Avenue Baptist Church and a member of McCarthy Baptist Church.

Survivors: husband, Thomas Wall of the home; son, Terry Wall, and wife, Connie; daughters, Sherry Wall and Bruce Davis; and Sarah Combs, and husband, Charles, all of St. Joseph; brothers, Curtis Dozier, Afton, Okla.; and James Dozier, Mabelvale, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant son, Thomas Grant Wall.

Service: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Gladden-Stamey chapel. Public visitation and family receiving hours: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Graveside service and burial: 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at Wattensaw Cemetery, Wattensaw, Ark. The family suggests memorials to McCarthy Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.

Walker, Mary Ann, 71, of Burlington Junction, Missouri, passed away
Sunday morning, June 4, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville,
Missouri.

She was born December 23, 1934, at Maryville, Missouri, to Joseph William Linneman and Mary Elizabeth (Kueter) Linneman. Mary Ann graduated from Horace Mann High School in Maryville in 1952. She was married to Ivan Lee Walker, April 26, 1954, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Maryville and they shared fifty-two years of marriage.

She was a homemaker and worked part time at Barr-Merrick Funeral Chapel and Carpenter Services Tax and Accounting in Burlington Junction. Mary Ann was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Maryville, St. Mary's Cemetery Board, St. Gregory's Altar Society and a member of Rolla Dicks American Legion Auxiliary, Burlington Junction.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bill, Frank and Martin Linneman and a granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband, Lee of the home; her five children and their spouses, Ed and Emma Walker, Maryville, Missouri, Linda and Charles Johnson, Clarksdale, Missouri, Christie and Kent Redig, Stanberry, Missouri, Mike and Beth Walker, Burlington Junction and Pat and Julie Walker, Maryville; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Johnson, Corvallis, Oregon; two brothers, James Linneman, Lincoln, Nebraska and Nieman Linneman, Camas, Washington; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Maryville, Missouri and burial will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Maryville. The family has suggested St. Francis Home Health as a memorial.

Wray, Orville Kenneth, 83, Maryville, died April 27, 1994 at St Francis Hospital, Maryville [Missouri].

Born Dec 5, 1910 in Orrsburg to Victor Hubert and Susie Scowden Wray, he was a professional sheep shearer for 60 years and was also involved in trucking and insurance sales.

He married Mary Eugenia “Genie” Neal, Dec 24, 1932 in Maryville.

Mr Wray was a 1928 graduate of Harmony High School. He was a member of First Christian Church, Men’s Forum and the Maryville Garden Club.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin Wray, Elvin Wray and Lloyd Wray.

Survivors include: his wife of the home; two sons, Ronald Neal Wray, Bonner Springs, Kan and Steven Fairell Wray, Glendale, Ariz; two daughters, Phyllis Jean Wray James, Bettendorff, Iowa, and Joyce Ann Wray Butler, Excelsior Springs; two brothers, Forrest Wray and Donnis Wray, both of Parnell; two sisters, Beulah Swink, Pickering, and Audrey Dittamore, Ravenwood; 15 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 pm Sunday at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Services will be held at 2 pm Monday at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, with Dr Donald Childers, officiating.

Burial will be in Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville.

Hazel Marie (Sharr) Wiseman was born December 29, 1919, in Pickering, Missouri the daughter of Ira Manford Sharr and Elsie Lorene Treese Sharr. She grew up in the Pickering area attending school. On May 18, 1937 she was united in marriage to Leland Wiseman in Maryville, Missouri. They were blessed with the birth of a son Larry and daughter Marilyn. Hazel and Leland lived in the Hopkins area, and because of Hazel’s asthma problems, the family moved to California in the mid 1950’s, returning to Hopkins in the early 1960’s. Hazel worked for St. Joe Light & Power Company for many years and later worked as a bookkeeper for St. Francis Hospital in Maryville and also for the Allison Ford Motor Company. In 1982, after retirement she and Leland moved to Bedford where she helped her son Larry for a few years at Wiseman Furniture.

The couple loved to dance to country music, and they enjoyed attending the local dances in the area on the weekends as often as possible. Hazel enjoyed quilting and doing embroidery on tea towels. She was an excellent cook specializing in fried chicken and homemade chicken and noodles. She was active when her children were younger, supporting them in their activities which included horse shows, parades and trail rides. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Orrsburg, Missouri.

Left to cherish Hazel’s memory are her loving husband of 67 years, Leland Wiseman of Bedford; a son Larry Wiseman and wife Sharon of Bedford; a daughter, Marilyn Oxley and husband Carroll of Clarinda; four grandchildren, Rick and Randy Sheley, Jeff Wiseman and Gayle Wiseman (Christensen) eight great-grandchildren, Jamie, Megan, Josh, Seth, Erica, Tyler, Leslie and Seth; and two great-great grandchildren, Adrian and Peyton.

Preceding Hazel in death are her parents Ira and Elsie Sharr; three brothers, Earl Sharr, Dick (Ernest) Sharr and Wilbur Sharr; and a sister Gracie McHargue.
