1873 in the Good Hope community [Nodaway County, Missouri] where she grew to
young womanhood.

were spent in her daughter's home at Sharpsburg [Iowa].
She was united with the Good Hope Church in her early youth, later
transferring her membership, with that of her husband to the Highland
Christian Church. When this building was destroyed by fire she became a
member of the Christian Church in Hopkins.
"Grandma", as she was fondly known, has led a busy and active
life given in service to her loved ones. She loved flowers and gardening and
devoted much time in her earlier life to these things. One of her fondest
desires was to piece and quilt a quilt for each child and grandchild, but
failing eyesight forced her to give up this goal. After she became totally
blind she spent many hours listening to her radio and her "talking
Books". She always enjoyed having visitors in her home and her
hospitality was offered freely to the many who knew her.
